There is no where in Hawaii where one can find such an unusual and wonderful school. They cater to educating the whole child offering opportunities for every child to excel academically, artistically, musically, and athletically. I was lucky enough to have graduated from this school and now am even more fortunate to have my child attend. While the lower and middle schools are exceptional in nurturing a child and offer quality in their own right - I think their high school surpasses all others in the State, more so now than at any time before (yes, yes, even from when I went).

Hawaii Preparatory Academy is nestled in the hills of the rural community of Waimea. It has a great reputation for its outstanding academic curriculum and its wonderful research and athletic programs. Also HPA has outstanding facilities for sports, drama, and technology. Even though the tuition at this school is very pricey, it is know for its quality and excellence in education. There is something at HPA for every child. I would recommend this school to Waimea families looking for a small private school on the Big Island.

Hawaii Preparatory Academy is a small, independent school for students on the Big Island. They integrate rich experiences on and off campus with its outstanding academic curriculum. Attracting applicants from across the globe, HPA enrolls day students and boarding students in grades 7 - 12 on two campuses. This campus has excellent facilities such as the student center, the Gates Performing Arts Center, the Rutgers Tennis Center, a competitive swimming pool and four sports fields. I would recommend this school for parents looking at private schools on the Big Island.
