I took my friend to see SF. Took the cable cars and was planning on walking down to one of the other Pier bars, but was pleasantly stopped by a greeter at the door. We headed in. We were pleased by the Irish pub decor and Brent our

Went here during Fleet Week (which was probably a mistake anyway) but the service was SLOW. SO SLOW!
But, the food was pretty decent. For bar food, of course. We had the Buffalo Chicken Tenders -- I love hot wing sauce, so those were

We should have left when we had to ask 2 different people if we could place an order. Our order of Onion Rings resembled a fast food restaurant, the Clam Chowder was luke warm and the Pint glasses had a smell that made the beer taste bad. Too many other nice places are near to have this type of experience.

Pros: Decent Chowder

We didn't eat at this place, but sat at the bar for a while. The bartender was awesome and recommended some local places for us to check out. She was so friendly it seemed like our local bar at home. The beer was pricey, but it seems like beer anywhere in SF is pricey. I'm not sure why other people gave this place such a bad review. Maybe not eating there or not having a waitress has something to do with my opinion......

Pros: Great bartender, good beer selection, nice atmosphere
Cons: $$$
The long and short of this story is basically poor service with a flippant attitude from the bar tenders. I even called the owner, Susan Tiernan, who's business card is displayed right next to the bar. No call back.
I'm just shocked people can run a bar/restaurant these days with lousy service. My prediction is this place will be out-of-business before the end of 2009. Walk down the street and grab your beer from Fiddler's Green instead.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Service & Food
Arrive at after 9 pm and the kitchen was closed. Beer selection poor.
Attitude poor. Got there just in time to hear the Band play two songs but then they took an 1 hour break. That's when we left.

Pros: Clean and good location
Cons: Shuts down early
I had a very bad experience here! I would not recommend this place to anyone! We stopped in last weekend, not because of any recommendation or urge to eat an Irish Pub dish, because we wanted to quickly get out of the cold. We had parked nearby and came in off the street.
The regular menu on the table. The waitress was sour. I ordered from the menu and was then told I could not order from it, and must order from a special Saint Patrick's Day Menu (still two days away). "Why is this menu still on the table if we can not order from it?" I asked. It had the beer list in the back. Okay, I guess that makes some sense.
The drinks were really short. We were served wine in plastic cups that were about 1/4 full. And, the wine was 6 dollars or so a glass, but you could buy a bottle for $25. I would rather pay more, and a least feel like I was served a regular glass in a glass. I asked the bartender to just send us over the remainder bottle and was told I would have to pay $12 and another $25. (I would never drink that much) The bartender was also very rude, after chatting and passing me up for 5 minutes, I called for his attention, at which he seemed offended. I was very embarrassed. He accused me of trying to cheat him. Wow! We paid for drinks, did not finish them... just left. Never again will I visit your pub.
I am currently a high school teacher of 20 plus years. I just thought you would appreciate the feedback. While in college, I worked in a very nice restaurant in Pasadena. I am well aware of what would be standard practice and how to treat customers.
While looking for your address online I found a place does reviews. It seems I am not the only person with a negative experience. Check out other reviews.
BTW, we went down the street and had a wonderful dinner, great wine and perfect service. The next day our food and service at the Fisherman's Grotto was the best!

Pros: Lots of Beer.. I guess.
Cons: Poor Service. Bad Customer Service. Short Drinks.
I think we were there on a Tuesday night and Liem Tiernan (the owner) was performing that night. I have only wonderful things to say about Liem and his pub. He's an amazing musician that made Irish classics and originals relaxing and fun to listen to. Granted, we were there a little late and did not have any of the food but the beer selection was pretty good and even a decent irish whisky selection. I can definitely recommend Tiernan's for good live music, a good time and few drinks.

Pros: Location, Live Music, very nice owner
I was wandering around the Wharf killing time one day with some friends ( I'm a local, by the way), and wanted to grab a bite and a beer somewhere we haven't been before. We saw Tiernans and thought we'd give it a try. First impression was it looked and felt like a large cafeteria with a bar. Decent beer selection, typical pub food menu, etc. The bartenders seemed like amateurs at best. Measured cocktails with jiggers, ran around like chickens with their heads cut off when it was just a little busy, seemed confused. They didn't even make their coffee drinks with the type of liquor that was specified on the drink menu. If it said Kahlua on the menu, they poured some generic stuff. Same with a few other ones. Food was mediocre. I asked for extra ketchup AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT! The corned beef was awful (I thought this was an irish pub?) Expensive for what you got (even for a tourist trap). I definitely will not be back.

Pros: lots of decent beers. good location across from cable car turnaround
Cons: everything else
Nothing but mirrors and advertising on the wall, very empty with a kind of cafeteria vibe, definitely could use some ambience. I waited a while for my food. Pricey too...
