I was impressed with this animal doctor! Close by on the 405 and 101 freeway we got in the same day. The animal eye doctor took me, my girlfriend and my dog in the exam room. We were able to follow the exam along with the eye specialist on a large television monitor. We could see exactly what the animal ophthalmologist saw on a T.V. on the wall. When he explained the condition of my Labrador's eye, we actually saw it! Very cool. It was nice that the animal eye specialist included all the testing with the initial exam cost.

Excellent animal eye doctor. I needed a dog veterinary ophthalmologist when my dog's vision was not doing good due to an infection. When the infection did not go away over several weeks, my vet in Los Angeles suggested going to an animal ophthalmologist. This animal eye specialist was close by in Sherman Oaks. With a few medications my dog's eye infection was completely cured. I could feel how gentle and caring this animal eye doctor was, as well as his great sense of humor. I felt very comfortable. He saw what the issue was immediately. My dog is now completely cured and seeing great.

My vet in Los Angeles recommended this animal eye doctor as great. I needed a good dog eye doctor. I found my Lhasa, Ella going blind. She couldn't go down the steps to from my bedroom. I set up an exam with animal ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman in Sherman Oaks. It is true this animal eye doctor wasn't going to do unnecessary surgery. This animal eye specialist explained my dog had cataracts that had matured and needed to be removed. I scheduled a test with this animal ophthalmologist called an ERG. The ERG eye test has a few stages, done by the animal eye doctor on the same day. The animal ophthalmologist first starts and completes only the beginning of the ERG test. He stops if he isn't getting good results. There are no other charges after that if so. The animal eye ophthalmologist finishes the ERG test only if the dog's eyes show what is called "retinal function" -- if the animal eye specialist would be able to do cataract surgery and restore vision. The ERG showed my dog Ella was a good candidate. The veterinary ophthalmologist took a lot of time explaining everything to me -- there was no unnecessary testing. I also did not ever feel pushed into surgery. I was also glad to find costs were reduced here too with the cataract surgery. There was a good discount plus a month of free rechecks. I had the surgery at this animal eyecare clinic. I dropped my dog off in the morning and picked him up that same afternoon. Because of this veterinarian ophthalmologist, my dog is now running in the dog park. Dr. Silverman is a great animal eye doctor. I agree with the reviews, he is an animal eye doctor who truly thinks about his clients.

This is an excellent close by facility with a great animal ophthalmologist. We have taken our dogs here for years. It is amazing to me that anyone can be so hostile and write such exaggerated and ridiculous posts. Yelp is known to filter good reviews when doctors don't agree to their terms. Nothing suspicious about it. People can write reviews, like the long rambling one on this site, that is so twisted it is almost as if the person has nothing better to do. Our dog had folds rubbing into his cornea and needed surgery -- a very painful condition -- however, the price was nowhere near as high as in this novel length post. All tests were necessary, reasonable, and the work done was excellent. Our dog sees beautifully. At no time were we pushed into surgery. This doctor was referred highly by my vet, and has excellent bedside manner. When people write such mean spirited and hateful words, which breaks YELP's own rules, I have to wonder about the emotional stability of the author. This doctor has been nothing but completely ethical with us.

It's really rare that I give 5 stars - actually I don't think I've EVER given 5 stars!!! So that's saying a lot! Dr. Silverman is a godsend! One day I was hiking with my beautiful dog Jasmine and all of a sudden she started squinting her eye. I immediately called one of my best friends and she gave me Dr. Silverman's number. When I called the office the receptionist was super nice and got me in the same day. Once I got there he looked at my dog's eye and found out that there was a dried foxtail in it. I'm so grateful that I got it taken care of as fast as I did!

My dog was scheduled to have surgery for glaucoma. When I got to the clinic, the pressures were normal. The animal eye doctor Dr. Silverman was great. He said there was no need for surgery. I was happy and relieved.

My dog had a mass growing on the back of the cornea and was not seeing well. The animal eye surgeon did an iris neoplasia surgery on her which took care of her haziness beautifully. She is seeing fine now!

We needed to be seen on an emergency basis and were very impressed when we called Dr. Silverman 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. Our dog's eye had a melting corneal ulcer and we needed to be seen by an eye specialist right away. Dr. Silverman met us at Complete Animal Eyecare within forty five minutes of our call. He explained everything to us thoroughly. His help saved the vision of our dog. To find a doctor this dedicated is extremely rare.

I would highly recommend this hospital if your dog needs eye care -- especially quickly. My dog ran into a bush and got a thorn in his eye. I waited awhile not sure what it was. This was a mistake -- the eye actually ruptured. I felt unbelievably awful. I rushed him to my vet who put a catheter in his leg and called Dr. Silverman. Dr Silverman did a graft on my dog that saved his eye. If I had to travel far away or couldn't get into an eye doctor right away, I am sure my dog would have lost all vision. The eye would have had to have been removed. With gas prices this high, the fact that this hospital was close by in Sherman Oaks was a blessing too. Right off the 101 and 405. My dog being in such pain I did not want to go far away like to Camarillo or Pasadena. Dr. Silverman was kind, warm and an obvious expert in what he does. Thank you Dr. Silverman.

My King Charles Cavalier of 12 years -- my best buddy -- developed a corneal indolent ulcer. He needed a procedure called a keratectomy. I was very impressed how quickly and efficiently the staff at Complete Animal Eyecare worked with my vet to get the current bloodwork needed and 2 Xrays. This was done at my vet's in one day and we scheduled the procedure for later that week. Everything went beautifully. His vision returned; he was taken out of discomfort and returned to normal. I was very relieved.

My bull dog had a ruptured eye over the weekend. My vet sent him to Complete Animal Eyecare first thing Monday morning. Even though the doctor here had a very full schedule he found time to work us in and gave us the care we needed. Because of him and his fast work my dog still has sight.

We needed an ophthalmologist right away when our veterinarian told us our dog had a deep corneal ulcer. He recommended Dr. Silverman as top quality. I was very happy Complete Animal Eyecare was so close! Right off the 405 and 101 freeways in Sherman Oaks. We made it here in 1/2 an hour and they graciously fit us in their schedule. No one is turned away here -- you might just need to wait if it is a busy day. I was so happy we didn't have to drive a great distance and my dog could get the care she needed. She is doing much better.

I loved the fact that Complete Animal Eye Care was so close. We didn't need to drive to Camarillo or Pasadena. Dr. Silverman is a very talented and caring doctor. My dog had conjunctivitis severely in both eyes, also known as dry eye. The doctor treated it with drops which seem to be working. If we need surgery I feel very comfortable here. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a good amount was actually taken off the charge for the surgery our dog needed. We found Dr. Silverman to be very reasonable when our dog started to lose her vision. Our veterinarian let us know Dr. Silverman did a great laser surgery on his dog; he has referred many many patients to this facility. Plus we got a month of free rechecks. We were happy it was close to the freeway and our home. It would be hard to believe anyone would find fault in any way with this doctor. He is honest and understands that times are challenging for a lot of people. We could tell he loves animals. The surgery came out great. The idea of living with a blind dog was more than my family could bear. We were very happy we did have surgery in this facility.

This is an excellent, talented and dedicated animal eye doctor. We found him to be available 24 hours a day when we needed to be met on an emergency basis. Our vet explained to us that the only difference between being board certified or not is that the specialist is able to work with breeders. Not every animal eye specialist wants to work in this area. All veterinary ophthalmologists go through the same training to be able to practice. Dr. Silverman came highly recommended by our vet. Our vet sends all his clients to Complete Animal Eyecare. Dr. Silverman removed the thorn in our cat's eye right there in his office. His prices were less than I would have thought. He is close to where we live and a caring human being -- we would send anyone here with a high recommendation.

I would really question a person's state of mind to criticize Dr. Silverman or Complete Animal Eyecare Center. He is an excellent ophthalmologist! Our Boxer was diagnosed with a indolent ulcer and fitted with a contact lens. The contact lens acted like a bandage and allowed the eye to heal. Along with antibiotic drops, the eye healed perfectly in less than 2 weeks. We found the prices here very good. The hardest part was the cone our dog had to wear. However, we knew if the cone was to come off our Boxer could shake out the contact lens so we were careful to follow the doctor's instructions and leave it on. This was our responsibility. We do have an active dog. One time our dog did knock out the contact. We found it sitting inside the cone. Dr. Silverman got us right back in and put it back immediately. We were very impressed with the quality of service.

We have been coming to this clinic for years with several of our dogs that have had eye issues. Dr. Silverman is thorough, caring, and above all, able to heal. Without his expertise, our dogs would have certainly gone blind. He has given us choices in treatment, has not ever pressured us to move toward any treatment, but instead took a lot of time educating us as to what was happening and what was going on with our dogs. One of the most ethical doctors I have ever come across. And most importantly, he restored vision to our animals! If I got another dog, I would not hesitate to return here. I only wish my human doctor was this good.

Our veterinarian rushed us to animal ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman when we saw our dog's eye was enlarged. We had been to Complete Animal Eyecare Center about 10 years before with our other dog -- we got very good care then too. Recently, our veterinarian suspected glaucoma with our Golden Retriever, when the pressure of her eye tested greater than normal. One of her eyes was swollen quite large. We found out at Complete Animal Eyecare Center that it was glaucoma. Dr. Silverman did treat the pressure in the eye and successfully brought it down. He let us know surgery was a possible option down the line -- but we could try to treat medically first which was our choice. At no time did he pressure us to do surgery right away which I really admired. The doctor spent a great deal of time with us. He is a kind and understanding doctor who truly loves animals. The staff was warm and efficient. This is a great hospital we would recommend to anyone who has any kind of veterinary eye issue.

Update: August 11, 2010

We went back today to Complete Animal Eyecare. It turns out that though we tried, our animal does have to have an eye removed due to the pain. I respect the ethics of this doctor. It is unusual to meet someone like this.

Our dog had lost her vision due to diabetes. We took her into Dr. Silverman who performed surgery on our dog. Before surgery she was depressed and lied around all day. Now, she is back to her old self and stands on the couch watching cats go by across the street. We were very satisfied here.

Dr. Silverman is an excellent animal opthalmologist! My dog injured his eye at the dog park and had a corneal ulcer. After two months of treatment and no cure we went to see Dr. Silverman. He knew immediately what was wrong, treated our dog and in 10 days the dog was better. He did a great job!

I would highly recommend it here.

My wife and I asked our veterinarian for a good animal opthalmologist when we saw our dog was not seeing as well. Our veterinarian recommended Dr. Silverman as one of the most thorough, excellent opthalmologists in the Los Angeles area.

He also told us Dr. Silverman was the only opthalmologist he recommends to his clients.

All opthalmologists go through the same training he told us to practice -- the only difference with a board certification is the ability to tell breeders if their animals have suitable vision or not for sale. Not all opthalmolgists want to do this in their practice.

Dr. Silverman did cataract surgery on our veterinarian's dog with tremendous success. His clients come back to him very satisfied with Complete Animal Eyecare Center.

Dr. Silverman did a laser surgery on our dog which came out beautifully. We also got a month of free aftercare visits. Our dog has his vision back and runs around our backyard like he did before he started to lose eyesight.

Our whole family is very grateful and would highly recommend Complete Animal Eyecare and Dr. Silverman as a thorough, conscientious, and excellent doctor.
