I went here four years before I transfered to Cal State East Bay and I think I got spoiled. The classes were decent and the campus was a decent size. The staff and instructors always seemed to be there to help me and look out for me. I also had classes with some friends because the college was local. This all changed when I started at East Bay.This school also has a really good nursing program.

I went to this school before getting my bachelors degree. This is a really good school for the money. It is clean, quiet , and have many great programs. I spent about 2 years here and highly recommend it to anybody who is trying to get their first two years in before they go to a 4 year college because it is a good foundation to start from.

PROS: Highly recommended, inexpensive way to get your first 2 years.
CONS: None. Truely a great school.

Chabot has a pretty popular dental assistant program. In about a year, you can earn credits to be certified to work in a dental office. The classes are not very hard and most of the class time is devoted to studying at your own pace. The final stages include fulfilling internship hours at the clinic where you practice learned skills on real patients.

I spent the last 4 years of my life at Chabot College and it has been a wonderful ride. I have gotten to know many students and faculty over the years and I have many good memories.

I can't think of too many negatives. They are getting more and more expensive each year. When I started it was $11/unit; when I left it was $29/unit!

Chabot College could be the best deal on the peninsula. I was in the Dental Hygiene program and with my BOG fee waiver (which covered tuition) for the two years I spent in Dental Hygiene school I estimate it cost me less than $10,000. Considering I am making $400/day as a hygienist now which is comparable to many other Doctorate professions such as Optometrists and Pharmacists I can say this is a great deal!

Chabot also has a nursing program which will allow students to become licensed nurses.

Add in the fact that Chabot College is located strategically in the middle of the San Francisco bay area south of San Francisco and Oakland, north of San Jose and Silicon Valley, and it's accessible to everyone! There are other dental hygiene schools in the Bay Area, but they are located much further in any of the 4 directions and are nowhere near the "center" of the Bay Area.

Lastly, the counselors are extremely patient and try to help you with all your questions. They are also very knowledgeable and can generally steer you in in the right direction.

PROS: Faculty are great, inexpensive, great programs
CONS:

Chabot College is a junior college in the bay area. Its not a large school and the student population is small enough where you can earn your associate degree pertty quickly. The prices are pretty comparable to ther junior colleges in the bay area. The campus itself is very pretty, a little run down but still nice. The environment is great for learning. But I did not like the area that the school was located in, right off the highway in Hayward. It just did not appeal to me.

The first thing many people think that Chabot College is grade 13. It's a lot harder than some CSUs! Anyone can get their bachelor's with a OVERALL GPA of 2.0! At Chabot, if you don't get a C in all of your classes, you can't get transfer. The 2nd thing many pople think is that Chabot is "ghetto". 1. That is a stereotype that people should not even bother listening to! 2. You are in school to learn and only learn. Chabot has great facilities, great teachers and great learning system!

At first, I didn't want to go to Chabot, but I didn't have much luck with the UC's. I have spent the last two years at Chabot College, and I am now transferring next Fall to UC Berkeley (as an economics major)! Chabot is underestimated. Yes, it seems like high school there sometimes and there are immature people, but all you have to do is avoid them and do what you got to do (which is whatever your goal is). College is really up to you anyway. I met a few bad teachers but a couple of great ones as well (that I am keeping in touch with as I continue my education elsewhere). Parking sucks there but you learn to deal with it, I had early classes so it wasn't much trouble for me to find parking. There are plenty of leadership opportunities (student government) and clubs to join. There are sports teams as well and you usually find out about clubs and events by the posters the student government makes. They also makes you feel like a big family when they have events in the quad (main grass/cement area). I also found work opportunity as a student (a tutor), and I knew people as campus security and a lifeguard. So there are plenty of opportunities for everything! It is just all up to you. Classes depend on the teacher, but it's just like anywhere else, you have good classes and bad classes, but you usually study independently anyway. It is true what they say, work hard and you will have great rewards. So, don't listen to those people complaining about Chabot, they most likely are going to be there for a couple of more years, if not then they will drop out! I am glad I went there, I saved a lot of money going to a junior college rather than going straight to a UC. Education is very important and Chabot is a great place to start.

The school here is very nice and clean. The bathrooms begin as nice and clean as the day go on it gets dirty because of reckless people. The school is not bad. The food is decent. Theres not much of a selection but you manage. Theres jack in the box near by as well as a subway. The teachers i have taken are nice. You can get a good education here. The library is circular so thats cool feature. Its a nice school its just the students there are kind of rude sometimes.
