Not a store worth seeing twice....went in to check it out on a Wednesday afternoon.....asked for prices to buy a handful of items , such as 1 ounce gold bullion coins, silver bars, and a small can of silver dimes/quarters/halves. I about fell over when they told me prices they were willing to buy thse items. We've all heard of false advertising, well this store is a perfect example of that...they tell us that "they pay the highest prices in town", and that is a punchline to the joke that is the store. They don't even pay close to the big store in town SAHARA COINS. I don't have to pursuade you with words....go to both...ask for prices to the penny, not a "round-about" number....ask for immediate payment in the form of cash...that will be more than enough to convince you. Better yet, take in a random, good-looking seated liberty half...or Bust dime...find out the prices at both places. You will leave American Coin Express as fast as your feet will carry you I promise. It's night and day how much more you'll get paid at the biggest shop in town (Sahara Coins) than you'll get at the wanna-be Am. C. Ex....I invite you to see for yourself....check it out...I did...and have about $300 more in my pocket for doing so!

Response from this business:

We at American Coin Express welcome you to go to American Coin Express and any other coin store in town. We guarantee our pricing and appreciate the customers who check for themselves. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service. In addition, please note we are members, in good standing with the BBB. We continuously monitor our stores to maintain honesty and integrity. We are not afraid to make changes when customers let us know that something is wrong. Please note to Derrick. We noticed that you left reviews for two of our stores. If you had an uncomfortable time or feel the prices offered to you were unfair, please give us a call and ask to speak with Andrew Rosenberg, the owner. I would love to hear the details of your visit so that I may correctly address them. Please feel free to check out any other coin store in town and then come see us. We think you will be pleasantly surprised. Once again we encourage everyone to shop around... Thank you!!!!! The management at American Coin Express

I sold some coins to the American Coin Express company located on Sunset near Pecos. The people there were really friendly to me and explained everything.

I knew what my coins were worth and the first price they gave me was very fair. I have been to lots of other coin shops in town and I always get attitude or terrible prices, I'm glad I found this company!

I had been given a small amount of coins to add to my collection from family, relatively new to collecting at the time I was astonished by what I had been given. A very rare 1913-S "V" nickel. I was so surprised and thought, "I must be wrong", so I decided to take it to a few shops to see if any of them could provide a clearer picture of the coin. As it was I had a 30x magnification loop, which by the way was far more powerful than most all of the shops & dealers I met with, the only shop to provide something which could come close to this was American Coin Express. I was at the Sunset Location and the guy there was really polite, honest and even seemed to genuinely want to help; suggesting I go to the Meadows Lane location because they had a 30x Microscope. Although it was the same Power or Magnification, the added luxury of having a stationary view port with a much more sensitive adjustment dial was far more beneficial than holding my loop in hand while closing one eye and moving both the loop and my face closer or further from the coin to provide a clearer image.
Upon arriving at the Meadows Lane American Coin Express I was not greeted by the clerk but rather after lingering for several minutes was addressed quite briskly by an older man who seemed rather dismayed by our presence. After explaining the conversation I had with the previous man, I asked if he could give his "expert" opinion about the coin. In the hopes that he would validate my determination, which by the way the other American Coin Express associate had told me "unofficially" he thought I was right, but recommended I have the coin graded in order to be sure. Back to the Meadows guy, he took the coin with him to the back room and after a moment or so came back and said, "Naw, this is junk... but I'll buy it from you for $1.00". After a debate, I finally ended my day and once home I placed my collection in their respective holders and away in my safe; only to find, weeks later, I had been swindled!
This Jerk had switched the coin with another of the same year and near identical condition. If not for a small bag mark or scratch on the reverse relief, I might have continued to question it myself. As it was, I sat in bewilderment for months in disbelief. How could a fellow collector, a dealer, and a business representative, coin club affiliate, so called man of honor do such a thing! Well, there is no way for me to prove it, so I had to bite the bullet; mind you if there was some way for me to get a hold of the surveillance footage from that day I would take him, the company, the owner all to court! In addition, have the clerk arrested for theft, fraud and for violating several state and federal laws, as well as violating fair business practices and once he was in jail I would pay some low down dirty S.O.B. to kick his teeth in. Please do not make the same mistake as me, this is one of the shadiest, vile, conniving, despicable, untrustworthy, corrupt, no good, deceitful and just plain rude places I have ever been or have seen. The fact that they are allowed to conduct business at all just goes to show the corrupt nature of this city of sin. What is worse is that the other location, although they did not give a very good price for my items, they were helpful, polite, and kind. This guy, whose face I will never forget, better hope he never crosses my path on a dark street- or in a well-lit public place for that matter.

I know something about coins having working as a numismatist several years back at the biggest coin company in the U.S. Recently I went into American Coin Express at their Sunset location to sell some circulated Morgan and Peace silver dollars. I had spoke on the phone with Dennis and it seemed like it might be a reputable business. When I came in, the first thing I could tell is Dennis didn't know much about coins. He had to look at two coin books to know which coins were common dates. Then he offered me a price which was 35% below the melt value of the silver in the coins, which is ridiculous and much lower than any other dealer quote in town. He obviously thought I didn't know any better. Needless to say, I decided to take my business else where and so should you. This place preys on gullible customers!

The reason for such varying reviews most likely depends on individual stores. The one on Meadows, off Decatur, is one of the shadiest stores I've ever been in. They offered me $400 flat for $50.25 face value on pre-64 silver coins (11/9/10), where the Sahara location offered me $829 an hour later. When I started to walk away, the 2 went into the back (obviously not wanting to discuss prices in front of other customers), and came back with a $600 offer. I managed not to laugh. When the other store used a machine to count the money, I was missing $2 face ($34 cash). By that time, I didn't demand a hand count, I just took the money, but I suspect the machine was correct and that $2 face was missing. I tries to warn the guy who owned the (new) Sahara store that the Decatur store was going to give him a bad reputation. He just shrugged and said they get a very different clientel. I will probably go to Sahara Coins in the future.

I had some gold coins I wanted to sell. My rainy day fund. I called up and they gave 98% of spot. Thank goodness!!!!

The store is a little bit scary to go into but, the transaction was quick and fast and they paid me cash.

Thank you

Pros: Quick and Easy

Cons: Area a little scary

My sister couldn't make her car payment and she needed money fast. She got coins from my dads collection and two gold 1 ounce bars. I told her that I have bought some coins from a store that I dont want to mention but saw a commercial while watching the news a couple days before and told her it was closer and we can try there as well. So I called to both places and and American coin gave me close to spot and the other store gave me 150 under spot. So I decided we would go to American Coin Express. They were friendly to my sister and I! I have gone back to them twice to add to my collection of Peace dollars. They are even keeping there eyes out for an 1928 Peace dollar that is Graded by ANACS, PCGS, Or NGC! They took my name and number when they will call me when they get that. one in. I am looking forward to that day.

If you need money fast and have coins or gold I would go to them.

Pros: Close by

Cons: nothing really

Wow i just cant wrap my head around what took place at this store. I think i just met the troll behind the rock from my nightmares as a kid. My granpa passed and left my gramma his coin collection he had assemble over 70 years. Some very cool stuff (i know next to nothing about coins). I told her we needed to take them to the 3 biggest dealers in town and get the best offer. We went to two other dealers (one on east Sahara that offered us $15,500 for everything, One on west Sahara that offered us $18,830) and then to American Coin Express. The buyer just grunted when i told him of our loss and then went about telling me how common everything was and how little value it had. He even said "basically your grandfather bought junk for his collection". He then was kind enough to offer my gramma $3763. for our collection. This should be against the law don't you think? If we had not gone to any other dealers we would have never known. It is not only "buyer beware" but Seller beware as well. I hope someone reads this before going in with their collection.

Pros: They have an Exit door

Cons: They have a entrance door

This coin shop is amazing, i found coins i have never seen before and the prices are very fair compared to the other coin shops in town. They have two locations now, one on Meadows lane and the other on Sunset Rd. I visited both locations and they are great, i do most of my selling at the sunset store and the buying at the meadows. Great coin place to check out!

Came all the way from Henderson to see this place cause i heard a great deal about this store from my fellow coin collectors. I love the selection, honest grading, good prices. I added to my collection. Cant wait till they open their Henderson location next month.

I had shopped around town and online for a reputable Coin Dealer to sell my Grampa's Coin Collection too and had been to several coin dealers over the last few days when i went in to American Coin Express. I had just left a coin dealer on West Sahara where i got and appraisal of $6,730.00 for my coins and currency. I offered to show Rick (i think that was his name) my coins. He thumbed through my 4 books of Morgan Dollars and said "The market is pretty low on these right now. Even so I can give you 950.00 for the books." OMG! It takes a lot to get me to sit down and write about my experience with a business. I only do so when i think the service is exceptionaly good or really really bad. Well this coin store is the worst. There should be a 20/20 story done on this place. I just feel sorry for the unsuspecting ones that went before me....

Pros: had a business license

Cons: HAD A BUSINESS LICENSE

I couldn't believe my ears. I went in to American Coin express, and brought along several coins that were once graded by PCGS, which is a major coin grading service, and are considered the front runner in the industry. The coins were still in the holders they come in. I was offered 40% lower for my collection than what I was offered at the Sahara coin store. I was so shocked by the insanely low number that I asked the guy working there if he could repeat it. Once he did, I told him how much more I was offered at the other store(sahara coins store), and if he could match it. He very rudely told me "not a chance, guess we're done then"...and turned and walked out of the room! Not only are they rude, they are paying shameful amounts for older, collectible coins!!

Pros: hmm....

Cons: many
