On my way back to New Jersey, my family and I visited La Guli Pastry. The cannoli was wonderful and reminded me of my childhood Sunday dinners and desserts. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend La Guli Pastry if

We used to live in Manhattan and bought everything in the way of sweets at La Guli! There are a ton of places to go in NYC but this is worth the ride, car, train...whatever! The owners are amazing, and very proud of what they create

I remember Sunday morning trips after Church to a neighborhood Italian bakery just like La Guli. The smells and the treats take me back. We would pick up some bread and pastries every Sunday because we were either having company or going

I remember going to La Guli's as a child with my dad to get our 'Sunday' pastries. We would wait on line outside the store and as a few people would leave, they would let a few more in. Today, I carry on that tradition as there is no

Everytime I'm anywhere near Astoria I go to La Guli Pastry Shop. They have the best cakes, pastries, cookies, etc. and the service is excellent. Near bus and subway. Worth a trip. My favorite - the Napoleans.

Fantastic Italian pastry shop in Queens. I live in the Midwest, but travel to Manhattan regularly. As often as I can, I stop either to/from LaGuardia to pick up a few tasty bits.
Great assortment of almost any treat you're looking

I love Astoria... My parents have stories of getting La Guli's cannolli cake for every single family birthday party and that tradition continued through out my childhood. I also remember my parents taking my sisters and me for a drive to

I too, remember this place from back in the day and was glad to move back to within walking distance.
Had heard from a couple of people that it had gone downhill but my nostalgia blinded me. Until today when I took one bite of my pignoli tart and it was OFF, i.e. tasted kinda stale. Btw I've been eating pignoli pastries since I was a kid - mostly from Terrizzi 'cause it was closer to where I lived. So one more bite to confirm and I went back into La Guli and told the (short dark-haired) girl behind the counter that it tasted stale to me and asked if I could change it for something else. She claimed the pignoli was from this morning, said, "I don't know" and just stood there giving me a face. WTF? After it dawned on me she wasn't going to help, I said, "How about, Sorry you're not happy with your tart. What can I do?" Then a portly old guy with glasses, I'm thinking the owner, started shushing me and chimed in with even more attitude, yelling and shoving my money back at me.
COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
Anything they have at La Gruesome you'll find by crossing 31st where there are two old-school bakeries St. Honore and Astoria Bakery II on the South side of Ditmars Blvd.
PS a couple of the other reviews sounded suspiciously like plugs from the inside.

Cons: Stale Pignoli Topped with RUDE worker and owner
How long has this place been here? Long before my time, but long enough to establish a wonderful reputation for having some of the area's finest desserts. The service is great here and they package the desserts well. Pricewise aren't terrible but each dessert valued at $1-2 each can add up quickly when getting a large box full. Its a good spot to come to after a nice dinner along Ditmars.

Its that special type of local pastry shop that you get nostalgic about when youre traveling around the world. Always saying in my head I would love some Gulis right now. This is the place that should be landmark for what it truly is. It is your perfect little local pastry shop that has helped define Astoria along with its many fine restaurants.

Queens knows its pastries, and La Guli is the queen. From cannolis to gelati and everything in between, classic Italian desserts and breads are made with love and perfection. A neighborhood staple that I learned to love from my Queens-bred family at a VERY young age. You won't be disappointed!
