Im born and raised in L.A and Ive given this place its last shot. I have never been spoken to with such rudeness on the phone when I place my orders. I recently called to order pizza they told me 30 to 45 minutes. 1 hour later I called and they said it would be another 30 minutes and they hung up on me. I called back to ask why he hung up on me and the guy hun up on me again. 5 more calls later.....same thing. I will never go here again. I suggest anyone who wants pizza to check out the other great pizza in L.A. There is better pizza and better service elsewhere.

Fairfax pizza! There are two options in this neighborhood, and Mr. Pizza is very good. Thin crust pizza, lots of topping options, and fast service.

I have to say that I really love this place. Only three stars because they're inconsistent with service & quality-- but when they're good, they are really really good.

I made the mistake of ordering in for delivery and it took almost 2 hours. They actually did tell me that it would take awhile, but I thought there was no way it would be thaaaat long... I'll still go back though, great for a late night slice!

I went for late night pizza with some friends. We paid the check, tipped, left the premises and were waiting outside for a cab. The waitress then came out and claimed to have given us the wrong check and undercharged us. When we refused to pay, the owner tried to follow two of my friends home. The next day I discovered they had charged - without any authorisation from me - the extra amount to my debit card. I will never be eating here again.

Pros: Great Pizza...

Cons: A Little More Lighting

.

I went to Damiano around 11pm on a Wed. and yes it was scary in that place. Its dark and looks rundown. The service is okay, the pizza is a bit expensive in my opinion. I got a mushroom + peperoni. I must say the peperoni was horrible. I had to take them off the pizza. The pizza is way better than Vitos on La Cienega. The area has horrible parking though.

I've been there many times, and they do have great pizza, but it's just not worth it for me to ever go again.

If you go, expect to wait 30-45 minutes before they START your pizza. I went last night, and ordered a large pizza. Our waitress never came to our table after taking our order and bringing us waters. We had been waiting for the pizza for over an hour and were starting to get impatient, and our glasses had long been empty, when our waitress came over and told us "the kitchen said they didn't get your order." She took zero responsibility for the order not getting in, and she never even apologized! When we told her we weren't going to wait for them to START the order now, she seemed happy!

I've long had mixed feelings about whether the good pizza is worth the horrible service and long waits, and this experience sealed it in my mind. I'm never going to go back to Mr. Pizza.

$4 delivery to Hollywood? That's the most expensive delivery I've ever encountered in over 30 years of living. The pizza is pretty decent, but very overpriced for what you get. Order a medium pizza and definitely experience hunger pains after finishing it, because it's only like 4 slices or so. $15+ for that?? I've never been inside this place, but given that I just read a delivery to Silverlake is $10, I'd never even consider making a trip there, because I consider Damiano's a rip off, financially. I shudder to think of how many bitter, middle class people actually lose money eating this food, and then complain about their salaries. That must be every single customer of this place.

Pros: pizza is ok, some of the other food is ok also.

Cons: PRICE IN AN ERA OF $5 GAS!!!!!!!!!!!! $4 delivery to Hollywood? No thanks; I'll forego eating for a day.

Really this place needs to be remodeled, it's old, stinky, and very dirty. Forget about the restrooms, so horrible. It's dark and depressing and stains all over the ceilings, and the lack of quality to used to paint the place is in poor, very poor condition. This place really needs a make-over.

As far as the food, the food is great. The service is average.

who doesn't like freshly-made-to-order pizza or mazarella sticks? rite?? it's open til late (after midnite), so if the bar scene just ain't happening for some reason, just head over here & eat away your A-game & call it a nite. parking's tough tho sometimes cuz there's only street/metered parking. but when you come late, there's usually some spots rite in front. it's a small cozy dark hole-in-the-wall joint, but food's great&comforting.

For the record, I was a huge supporter of Damiano's for a very long time. I've been in this town for 10 years and have been a loyal customer for many of those years. I defended their prices, their slow delivery, because they provided quality late night delivery. Those days are over.

Tonight, my sister and I ordered a pretty large order (pizza, pasta, dessert, and an appetizer). We placed the order at 12:45 AM and were told it would take 45-60 minutes. I live in the valley and I'm very understanding of how long it normally takes for that delivery (although, at this time of night, taking Laurel Canyon only takes 15 minutes). I've ordered at least 25 times from them, tip VERY well, and was expecting the usual service.

Instead, we had to wait 2 hours. The food was cold. And they only offered a $10 discount. When we asked to speak to a manager, the waitress said that because we were in the valley, it would take a "few more minutes" to deliver. Unfortunately, we had to do the "angry customer" routine.

While I understand that delivery is tricky mistress, what we experienced was akin to sitting in a restaurant, waiting 45 minutes to get TERRIBLE service, getting cold food, and then being offered a stale slice of pie to make up for it. Damiano's will still get business. The italian food is decent-good for LA (which means poor-satisfactory every where else). However, I recommend that if you want to order delivery, call in, put on your robe and bunny slippers and make your way over there.

Ok so there's a long wait yes, but the pizza is so good. The cheese is hot, stretches, and melts in your mouth. Just avoid the vegan pepporoni b/c it's dry and gross. Otherwise it's one of the best ...I know my pizza.

Cons: Crowded Late Night

Allow me to start by saying that I have eaten here a few times after leaving clubs and it was a good thing I was drunk because I would have ate anything. We also ordered delivery twice now, and both times got ripped off. I also ordered that over priced artichoke, and it went straight to the trash. The last time we ordered, it took 2 hours to get the pizza and it showed up burnt. I have tried to get a hold of the manager/owner for a week to get my money back and he keeps dodging my calls. The girl who answered my call even gave me attitude and told me I have to reach him when he's there! By the way, his hours are 2am till 6am! I guess I'm the crazy one.

For $72 and a 1 hour and 40 minute wait I guess I expected a lot more!
I will not waste my time or money here again, I will stick with BERRIE'S on 3rd St. Consistently good, orders are always right and a HUGE, delicious pizza is $20 delivered. And takes about 25min!

I will never order from Damiano's on Fairfax again! Got home late and ordered a tiny little pizza with tomato, basil and garlic. As well as an Antipasto salad, the Artichoke Fritti appetizer and the Smoked Mozzerella appetizer. The salad was slimey, slimey, SLIMEY! It was just gross! I think it had tomato sauce on it, well needless to say it went right into the trash can! I never understood how a salad can get screwed up?! The Artichoke Fritti, we had one bite and that went right into the trash can as well. I expected what I was told they were on the phone; artichoke hearts simply fried with a mild white dipping sauce. Instead we got clumps of artichoke just leaves (that you choked on when you tried to eat). It was like trying to eat the wrong end of an artichoke, terrible. The dipping sauce was nothing more than melted butter. The smoked Mozzerella appetizer, we were told on the phone was a big piece of smoked Mozerella warmed and served with tomato sauce. It actually is a small piece (little, and I mean a little bigger than a silver dollar) of smoked mozzerella, deep fried and served drowning in a very acidic tomato sauce. We asked for the sauce on the side but at this point I wasn't expecting much from this establishment!

Ok so the pizza is the real reason every one raves about this place I hear...
The tiny, teeny tiny pizza we ordered wasn't very good either! The thin crust was just WAY TOO mushy! The pizza was LOADED with too much sauce. Asked for extra cheese but I think they heard very very light cheese please. So I looked at the receipt and of course we were charged for extra cheese. The pizza was tiny especially compared to neighboring joints.

NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!

This is one of those restaurants that is open when most are not. Its not fancy, not by any stretch of imagination. Its more like a dump, a hole in the wall. But, it has some damn good food, which is further heightened by your state of drunkeness. You must be drunk to come to a place like this, and I say this in a very GOOD way. Born and raised in LA, Domianos is one of the few surviving pizza joints that actually serves good sloppy pizza - it has a special place in my heart. If you're looking for service and think they owe you something, go look somewhere else. This place is here for the majority of people who want good, crappy, pizza at ALL HOURS -- night or day. I wouldnt ever consider delivery, you're automatically subjecting yourself to further bad service and poor delivery times... plus, you're missing the entire experience of being IN Domianos, watching the LA peeps and freaks come in and out (especially after club hours). Oh yeah, HUGE selection of beers is a PLUS.

Pros: Greasy pizza that falls over, thin crust, bazillions of toppings, open at ALL hours

Cons: Springs coming off of seats, homeless folk outside, parking's a b*tch, service is destined to STINKS

Although they have vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni, they do not offer vegan crust. If you tell them that you would like a vegan pizza they will not warn you of the crust not being vegan. You can order cheese sauce and faux meat but they dont supply the crust! Word to the wise, ask before you order anything anywhere!

"Maria" took 15 minutes to take our order and still did not deliver an hour later. When I called back, she said we would have to place the order again. I asked to talk the manager, but she said he was not available. I asked for his name and she hung up on me. The pizzas are great when we get them, but Maria could learn a thing or two about customer service.

You dont want to be in a rush to eat if ordering delivery.... When you call 80 percent of the time expect to be put on hold, no matter what time of the day! And, delivery is generally at least 45 mins.... But !!! it is WORTH WAITING FOR!... 90 percent of the time the pizza is authentic and great tasting - worth the price even though it is a little more then you would expect to pay! finally... they deliver alcohol, cigarettes, and deserts too - You can't beat that!

For some reason the menu here doesn't anywhere tell you that you can order soy cheese and veggie "pepperoni" even though it is available. The cheese is vegan (there's no casein in it), as is the pepperoni, so if you just tell the server you want the vegan pizza with the veggie pepperoni they'll know. I don't know anywhere else in L.A. that makes vegan pizzas (there is a place on Hollywood Blvd I've heard of, but it is closed for renovation right now). I've been coming here every week since I discovered this place, and always am able to get seated at a table immediately, and you maybe wait about 20 minutes for your pizza. But I have only been during the week, and at about 9:00 at night, so I don't know what its like during weekends or during the normal dinner hours. It's a dive yeah, but it's also really cheap, and where else are you going to get vegan pizza anyways! This spot is definitely a must for any vegan in L.A.

OK, so a lot of the reviews are saying the service is awful, the appetizers are bad, the soy cheese is gross... and they're right. The people that work there are all slackers who hate the fact that they are working but have to pay rent. The owners put other stuff on the menu to appease the people who don't eat pizza. However, this place is the real deal. Who cares about all the other stuff? Its the best NY pizza in LA. And thats it. Leave your pretentiousness at the door, and enjoy a slice.

Well, I went on a friday night afer 2am. When i went there i ordered a pizza with vegan cheese, basil, tomato and garlic. The dough of the pizza was pretty goood but the vegan cheese was not bad but not good. i wouldn't get the vegan cheese again. I would probably stick with regular cheese. The place was pretty cool on a friday night after two there were like 10 people in there and as some were leaving they commented on how they really liked the place and are regulars. The only thing that threw me off about the place was that it was so dark in the back where all the booths are. I don't know if they keep teh lights off to save energy because they run almost all night long but they had one small votive candle on each table that was barely enough to light the menu to read it. But on the other hand i could see ifu had a hang over the bright lights might be painful. But we just grabbed more candels. All in all i will be going back and bringing more friends. Good pizza and a nice place to chill and talk with good people

Three words: Best. Pizza. Ever.

And I've never had a problem with slow or bad service?I usually eat around 7 or 8. And the meatballs are the best ones I've ever had. Try a slice of bacon and green onion, with a side of meatballs. So good, I crave this stuff!

I ordered a slice of pizza and they gave it to me with the crust burnt. I asked for another one and they weren't having it. So I walked out.

I don't recommend this place. It's dark and dingy inside. The employees I encountered (except for the dishwasher who showed me where the restroom was), for the most part, were rude.

I doubt I'll be coming back here.

The pizza is too thin for me anyway. I like the crust and the cheese thick (like Joe Peep's in North Hollywood).

Cons: Burnt Pizza; Lame Service; Too Dark Inside

.

This place is a JOKE! They charge you $3.50 to deliver a pizza to you even if you live just DOWN THE STREET! I'm not kidding. Gas is NOT that expensive, Guys.

Their pizza is mediocre at best. What they pass off as a "Large Pizza" is also laughable. TINY SLICES.

I can't wait for a rival pizza joint to open up nearby to beat the pants off of them. They have been sitting on their bloated butts for too long...

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Place is a dump, charge you exhorbitant amount for delivery, ridiculously small portions

.

It is the best pizza in LA after 2am, because coincidentally it is the only place still serving after 2 and of course anything when you're drunk tastes amazing, the wait is painful but as long as you've had many cocktails you'll be happy, but please save yourself the trip when you're actually craving a good pizza soooooo not worth it!

Pros: open after the bars close

Cons: food ok, wait loooong, pricey for what you get

.

Damiano pizza is like most reviewers say: the best NY pizza in LA BUT a lot of good things in this world arrive at a steep price. The prices are a little exhorbitant, the wait is nearly unbearable and make sure you don't order during a low-bloodsugar attack because you will keel. Also, the manager is not very nice-- I saw him ordering around his delivery people like he was the dictator of a 3rd world country, it was a little infuriating, but I stayed and waited 20 minutes, for a slice of NY style cheese pizza anyways (I hope that doesn't make me a bad person...). I also have never wanted to eat inside the restaurant, as it is dark and loud and a little scary (I usually order it to go and sit on a curb in a peace). Yes, this is a guilty, dirty pleasure and they do have an excellent beverage assortment and the cannoli isn't bad either.

I loved this place - been going for years. Recently they got a crappy transistor-like radio with ancillary speakers...AND THEY BLAST JACK FM. The station is OK, but who wanst to sit and eat with 5 MINUTES OF BLARING COMMERCIALS EVERY 20 MINUTES. I am not exaggerating - I could barely hear the waitress - and she was rude and couldn't care less about repeated requests to turn the music/commercials down. And both times it was around 6 and there was only one other table - it wans't 9PM with a full house. Now it is intolerable. And they serve cocktail sauce with calamari (& try to charge extra if you request marinara instead) I am done....until Jack is gone.

Ok. Here's the thing. The pizza is delicious. The best I've had so far on the West Coast. However, they are SLOW. We went in, sat down and waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come. There were about 4 other occupied tables. One in particular was complaining about waiting over an hour for one pizza. ONE. Our waitress told us it would be at least 40 minutes for a pizza. We took slices and waited 30. But they were yummy. And cheap. With great beverage choices. If you've got time and patience, check it out.

We live around the corner from this place and ordered Pizza to be delivered. When the order arrived, a small pizza with one topping, I was told it was $22.00. This was before tip. Basically it cost me $24.00 for a tiny pizza, that didn't taste very good at all. There are a bunch of better pizza places in the area, for a much better price.

Pizza places are about the pizza, not the toppings or other side issues. Damianos has the most authentic NY thin crust pizza in LA, period. It has a flavorful sauce, good quality cheese and high quality crust. Nothing else matters

We got this delivered, and only live 2 blocks away. The pizza arrived cold. Not much sauce, and the sauce is an important factor when it comes to pizza. I have WAY better than Damiano. Try Raffalo's thin crust or even Brick Dome Pizza.

This is a great place for thin pizza with a myriad of toppings (garlic is my fave). Food is MUCH better eaten in than takeout. Great beer selection.

It is really dark but your eyes adjust. Some comfortable booths. Service is generally good but can get sketchy when its busy depending on the how many people they have working.

Overall a great place to eat and one I frequent a lot since its right around the corner from my apartment!

first time i've ordered from this place, it was $5.50 to deliver to west LA, took an hour, and the pizza was quite small for what we paid. to their credit, the crust was good, and they're open late.

The BEST thin crust NYC style pizza in LA. So good I don't want any toppings messing it up. Cheese only please (and I don't mean extra)!

For the best pie, this is the place. You've tried the rest, now try the best. And they serve it up into the wee hours of the morning. You won't be disappointed.

If youre from the NYC area, there arent many pizza places that match that quality in LA. I think Damianos comes the closest. Ive always had great pizza here. And the fact that theyre open late makes it a nice stop on your way home from the bars/clubs. Im still trying new places, but so far this is my favorite.

My friend and I tried Damiano Mr. Pizza on Sunday after reading a few articles/reviews about their great New York style pizza. It was good. Not the best but certainly much better than the average tasteless pizza that is usally encountered around Los Angeles. The best quality of DMP's pizza was the chewy and flavorful cheese. The sauce is decent and certainly unobtrusive. The thin crust is foldable if that's what you look for and it tasted good where it wasn't overcooked. Black = burnt = bitter = bad tasting in my book but I'm picky. Overall, I would recommend DMP to friends but I wouldn't tell any New Yorkers that we have them beat yet.

They serve really good pizza and pasta, create fabulous salads and offer a great selection of bottled beer. Add to that the fact that they deliver until the wee hours of the morning--and you've got yourself a heck of a pizza joint. It may not be as good as what you'd find in NY, but we are in Los Angeles and it's about as good as it gets out here.
