Pros: nada

Cons: read below.

.

The family brought my wife here for dinner on Mother's Day. We wanted to avoid the brunch crowd so we waited until the evening. It a spot my wife had heard about and was interested in trying so we wanted to get the "real" experience. Boy, did we.

The place is quite pretty and well laid out and the menu- while fairly basic- had a good variety of tasty sounding selections. The problems started shortly after we were handed our menus.

My wife noticed that some of the diners were being rather short with our waitress which we both attributed more to rude customers that a problem with the service. We soon learned that was a mistake.

When the waitress came by for out drink order my wife asked how the cheese fondue was. The waitress told us it was great- especially with the sausage- and the walked away. We were a bit confused- and hungry. When she did not show up again for 15 minutes we were getting frustrated. During this time someone tried to bring us salads that were not ours. The next time we saw our waitress she brought us the fondue that we hadn't actually ordered, just asked about. Fortunately for all of us we WERE going to order it- and it was quite good.

The waitress told us she would be right back to take our order. Once we'd finished our fondue another 15 minutes later she actually did show up. We placed our order (my wife and daughter split the filet mignon, I had the prawn fettucini, and my 4 year old ordered a cheeseburger. The whole time we were ordering the manager kept waving at our waitress distracting her attention. This may sound petty on my part, but it certainly made us feel like we were the least important people in the room.

After a few minutes our salads arrived. My wife ordered hers with bleu cheese and I had it with the house vinegarette. The bleu cheese was made with onions and my wife is allergic so she sent it back and asked for the house vinagrette instead. The waitress said "I'll see what I can do". about 15 minutes later (seems to be the minimum amount of time the can complete any task) a busboy came out with a replacement salad that the waitress made him take back because my wife only ordered the dressing. She never actually received the dressing and her salad went uneaten.

I took another look around the place and noticed that there was not a single happy face on the customers. The people behind us were having an issue that I was not nosey enough to discover. There was another group that had been waiting for silverware so long they had to hunt someone down to remind them.

It was a full half hour after ordering that out food arrived. Unfortunately they brought out chicken strips for our son instead of the cheeseburger he ordered. Normally in a situation like that I would have my child eat what he was brought even if it wasn't what he ordered since I've worked in customer service environments before and I understand that mistakes can happen. This night I was not feeling quite so generous after the hour we had thus far experienced. She said it would be no problem and the burger would be out in a few minutes.

At this point our drinks were empty and we were quite hungry. We teach our kids to wait until everyone is served before we start eating, so our food sat there getting cold.

About 5 minutes (record speed!) our waitress brought drink refills for us- only she gave my wife the wrong drink. We waited a while and my wife's anger grew- she finally got up and found the waitress and told her our son was STILL waiting on his burger and she had gotten the wrong drink.

It took them ANOTHER HALF AN HOUR to make my son's cheeseburger (my wife never did get the correct drink). I can only assume the reason it took so long was to cook it to the point of inedibility. The burger was a charred hockey puck. On top of that they did not include the fries that are part of the meal.

We never saw the waitress again until she brought us our check. We asked for a box for the steak (keep in mind the food here is pretty good aside from the cheeseburger). The waitress returned with a couple of boxes. When we went to put our food in the first one it had a greasy stain on the bottom and was full of crumbs and bits of purple cabbage.

As I looked over the check I noted they still felt entitled to charge us for my son's late, burnt, fry-less cheeseburger.

Overall the food was quite good (I did no like my prawns, but that was a matter of personal taste and not a reflection on the quality of the food) but the service was bar none the worst I have ever endured. I always try to give folks the benefit of the doubt- especially on a busy day like Mother's Day- but Blackstone pushed me and my family beyond our limits.

I'll try to sum up our experience quickly-

Wait staff was never around- every request (including getting silverware) took 15-20 minutes. While we were ordering the manager kept interrupting our waitress. My wife never got the salad

Pros: The food isn't too bad

Cons: Service, service, and service

Sat in the bar for a couple of hours on a Friday night:\r
Women must be desparate here - never seen so much blatant push up bras on average girls, but the men were worse. If you have a toupee, you are too good for this place. Men don't

When we arrived, we were told that it would be a five dollar cover for both myself and my fiance- to sit in the restaurant! As we were being seated, one of the waitresses made a snide remark to the doorman, asking in a very catty tone if we were indeed eating dinner. The waiter took our order and brouht my fiance her Stoli and Cranberry, which was HRD and Cranberry if there was any liquor in it at all. After ordering our food and waiting for a full half an hour, we were served the blandest chicken I have ever had- hers on a salad, mine on a "chicken club" which was on a cheap sesame hamburgetr bun. After this mediocre at best food, it took at least another 20 minutes to catch the waiters attention so we could pay the bill! Bland food, some of it frozen, poor service and overall a bad experience.

Where do I begin.....when we arrived I was impressed by the ambiance. Nice decor, spacious. Then we sat down and listened to hard rock music - not so nice. The greeter and waiter were friendly and that's the nicest thing I can think of to say about this place. The menu was impressive, the food and service were not. My husband ordered a Chardonnay, I ordered ice tea and our friend ordered coffee. After some time we received a Cabernet and an ice tea and after much more time, finally a coffee. The "NC BBQ pork sandwich" I ordered was anything but. Unlike a real NC BBQ sandwich, which is pulled pork in a sweet BBQ sauce, this one had big chunks of pork burnt around the edges. The sauce may have started sweet, but it was generic at best and not sweet. In NC they serve this with cole slaw on it. My friend asked if they did this here - no, it would be on the side. Good she said - she did not want it on the sandwich. When her sandwich came, it came with the cole slaw ON the sandwich - so we asked to have it prepared again, which was done quickly. But then we had to specifically ask, twice at least, to bring her cole slaw on the side and also her fried dill pickle which was also supposed to be included. My sandwich came with the cole slaw and dill pickle on it which was fine except that the portions were so meager they barely covered a small portion of the bun. We're not talking expensive condiments here -just a pickle and some cabbage. Surprisingly when my friends "sides" finally arrived, they were quite generous. My daughter ordered "mini cheeseburgers" from the child's menu. She was served what looked to be a quarter pounder. She didn't mind.My husbands chicken dish was missing fries but he decided his portion was sufficient without so he didn't even bother to ask and the waiter didn't notice. Although friendly, the service we received from our waiter was pretty bad. It was incredibly slow, the orders were not delivered as the menu described and we constantly had to remind our waiter to bring us food and beverages. For what we received, the prices were out of line. If the menu delivered what it represented, it would be worth going to this place. From our experience, we will never go there again.

My husband and I have been very impressed with Blackstone's delicious happy hour menu and their live music scene. It's wonderful to have fun without having to go into Portland. I have never had so much fun locally, they book great music venues, and their happy hour is very affordable.

This is a nice restaurant unfortunately tucked into kind of a bad location overlooking a gas station. It's not so easy to get to even though it's just off of 164th, a main road. It offers the usual American restaurant fare. Our burger was good but kind of pricey considering the area. There really wasn't anything that made us want to come back.

This place has a very sophisticated atmosphere and an eclectic menu. It is a great place to come with a group because they have special rooms. The restaurant is very expansive and has incredible views of the Portland lights.
Happy hour is especially popular here as you have a chance to try many savory items on their happy hour menu. The drinks are scrumptious too!

Blackstone is a great place to go for sandwiches and family meals. The Salmon is great and so are the steaks. My family likes to go here for just a nice dinner.
