I have been to Vida Loca on several occasions. The place has potential, nice atmosphere and decent food, however the service is horrible and it is also a bit overpriced. Our most recent encounter will be our last! We attended the crawfish

Worst Mexican food we ever had! We all contracted some sort of food poisoning (4 grownups) except for our little 2 year old daughter, who smelled the "bad" and refused to eat anything. For the money that they charge you would expect at

The food here was okay, but really overpriced given the quality, location and atmosphere. It certainly wasn't anything special and with all of the options we won't be going back. There's always a wait so I guess other people enjoy it.

I can??t recollect such a poor dining experience within the last 20 years. Firstly, the wait staff disappeared for no less than 20 minutes. Inclusive was the busboy, waiter and we finally encountered a hostess who was preparing a table. When we requested a manager (we asked the hostess), our waiter magically appeared and suggested that he would 'look for our food'. Given that we had 'lost' the restaurant personnel I could only wish him the best of luck. In any case the manager then appeared, agreed that there was little activity and added that he had this waiter on only '3 small stations' and appeared as exasperated as we were. Compounding poor service was the food which after being served caused us to better understand the reluctance of the servers to serve.

The food is decent and the wait staff is hit or miss, but we mostly go for the patio and the kids' play area. Togo orders are also hit or miss....about 50 percent of the time my order has been incorrect. Why still order then...because it is close when we want Mexican. My biggest frustration is the constant policy change. One weekend we were there and watched several customers be seated ahead of us. When I asked why, they indicated that it was call ahead seating. So tonight when I decided to take advantage of the call ahead seating, I was told that they don't have call ahead seating. Hmmm....why not? Because they were already on a wait. First of all, that is the whole point of call ahead seating. Second of all, I had to sit 15 minutes past my quoted wait time the last time that I was there because they were seating people before based upon call ahead seating. Absolutely frustrating! If you do decide to go, ask for Paco. He is the nicest and most attentive waiter there.

This is not a good place. My daughter who is 17 yrs old came home one night and we noticed she had been drinking alcohol. I asked her where she had been drinking and she said that she and a group of girl friends who are all in high school went to this restaurant and they were able to order alcoholic beverages. She said the wait staff were aware that they were in high school and still served them alcohol. I filed a complaint with the police dept and was told this restaurant has multiple complaints. They need to be shut down if they can't be responsible and card customers who are under age!

I went there and tried the enchiladas. They're not as good as Lupe Tortillas but they were pretty good. My server made it a point to let me know that he would still wait on me even though I was not seated in his area...I was like okaay?...didn't know why he felt the need to tell me that. Anyway, the place is nice and spacious enough, prices are reasonable, food is good, and they have a live band outside. I've already recommended this place to friends.

Cons: none that I've found yet

Double check you drink orders... I recently visited Vida Loca with a large group of friends. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the recently cooler weather. We ordered a round of Jager shots. When the waiter brought them out we immediately noticed something was different about the shots. They smelled different, looked completely different, almost the same consistency as a cola. If you have ever had Jager, you know how thick it is. Anyway, we questioned the waiter and he assured us that it was indeed Jager. My friend and I finally followed the waiter back to the bar to ask the bartender. After 15 or so minutes of the bartender trying to convince us we were wrong and refusing to show the bottle. The manager walks up and asks if there was a problem. We explained the situation and the manager asked to see the bottle. The bartender now admits that there is no Jager and he has been out for 3 or 4 days. Now he shows us a Zwack bottle and has the nerve to try to tell me that it is more expensive than Jager. I knew better... it is half the price of Jager and no where near the quality. The manager agreed to take the drinks off the tab. Beware of bartenders at Vida Loca. It turns out he did the same thing with Tequila to other members of our group that night. NOT COOL, NOT COOL AT ALL!!!!!

Vida Loca has great mexican food. This is a place we continue to go back to. Their stuffed avocado is awesome and they have a good selection on their kids menu, which is hard to find for a mexican food place. Bonus that they have a playground and a fountain on the patio that keeps the kids entertained.

We decided to check this place out on a reccommendation, and it looked pretty generic, like a lot of mexican places we've been to in Houston. It was full on friday at 7:30, but not crowded, so we had no wait getting a table for 2, but we did have a problem finding parking, which is unusual in Katy. Due to a mixup with the servers, we had quite a wait in placing our orders, but once done, service was quick, friendly, and familiar. We loved (LOVED) the chips and salsas they brought out, fresh from the oven we could see on the patio, and that really set the tone. Margaritas were OK (skip the strawberry rita), and well priced. The fresh guacamole was absolutely delicious, and a small was plenty for two. When we first ordered, I asked about the tamales since I love them, and our server advised us not to try them, as they weren't anything special. When our orders came out I was slightly disappointed because it all looked so generic, but I was in for a surprise. The chicken had great flavors, the tortillas were amazing, the stuffed avocado was crisp, and the mexican rice was fresh. It even tasted great the next day after being microwaved. Fantastic place, we'll definitely be back.

Found this place on Citysearch and decided to call in a to go order last night to take home to the family. The food was awesome and the prices reasonable. They also gave us a free order of queso which we later learned is standard for all to go orders. Looking forward to having Vida Loca cater a party we're hosting next month. The food is outstanding!
