The University of Michigan Museum of Art is not particularly large, but it is right on campus in Ann Arbor; the only nearby art museums of compare are in Detroit & East Lansing.
It might be smaller, but it's also free. Donations are accepted, but not mandatory.
UMMA's best feature is probably its rotating exhibits; it has pulled in world-reknowned displays in the past, and will continue to do so. Be sure to call or check the website to find out what's new & upcoming.

This is a nice museum for an afternoon outt where you don't want to spend the whole day at home or at a musuem. This is perfect because it isn't a very large museum but they feature wonderful exhibits both ones hosted year long and travleing ones to give you some variety.

I have been to this museum about 3 times now and I have been very impressed. They have a great collection of themed displays through the course of the year. Such as Van Gogh and many more great artists. Very little fee to see all these great works as well. Conveniently located in the heart of U of M Campus. A must visit if you are in the Ann Arbor area

PROS: impressive art, cost
CONS:

This is a great art museum - not too large, but they have some really nice pieces of art. I recently went to see the "Pop Art display" - Andy Warhol stuff, and it was quite nice. The museum asks for a $5 donation, but it is not required for entry. Parking can be a little difficult, usually its hard to find street parking, but there are parking garages close by.

The Museum of Art is a nice place to go if you want to get some culture in between classes, or just on a nice afternoon out. It's conveniently located on State St., and while it is not the largest museum...there are always new exhibits traveling to campus. The museum is a great place to go and stop in...and every few months there is something different. Exhibits in the past included the traveling AIDS quilt, Indian Art, and many other exhibits. There are also the exhibits that are there year round. Just walk in and take a look - you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to do so!

This is one of the top universities in the world. It's a decent bargain still if you are in-state and pay public school tuition, but if you're out of town, good luck because you will have major debts.

It's right next to the Michigan Union, right in the middle of the University of Michigan campus. It's a somewhat small building that most students don't even notice.

But it's a wonderful art museum. There is a lot of great art in there, and they bring in new and interesting collections every 6 months or so.

Most students don't visit the museum, but it's priced for a student's budget. There is no entrance fee, and the suggested donation is very cheap. I don't remember the exact amount, but it's probably close to $2 per person.

The art museum is definitely worth visiting.

PROS: Good art. New collections every 6 months or so.
CONS: It's pretty small
