My Review is for Dr. Shaver and I will write one there, too. I have been taking my pets to Cheyenne West for well over 6 years now, and I brought in an orphaned rescue dog, 3 weeks old, the day I arrived with her in Las Vegas. They tested her stool for worms, I brought her back in twice that month and then it's a month from when she was tested and I find a huge pile of adult roundworm fecal matter on my floor. Literally spaghetti that moves! I have two toddlers, the dog has been excellent at potty training and this was her first accident inside in two weeks. I called Cheyenne West and apparently they failed to contact me with the test results. I had another appointment with my dogs on Saturday and I have since moved over to another vet. I don't care where you take your pet, if you are a responsible owner and see the veterinarian for years on end, you expect concern and care. I don't care if the automated system failed to generate a call to me, I am a PERSON, I have small children that I now have risked getting roundworm not to mention my other dog and my husband and I - Cheyenne West didn't just drop the ball, they cost me hundreds in new carpet, new veterinarian bills and that doesn't include the hours of scrubbing, disinfecting, stress and worry. What about my dog's health? Why didn't you follow up on the results when I went back when she was 5 weeks old? Cheyenne west, you failed me, my pets and my family. I will post all over the Internet my experience and I hope no one goes through what you put me through.

I don't doubt the positive reviews, but this was definitely NOT my experience at Cheyenne West Animal Hospital. I took my eight year old GSD (German Shepherd Dog) there since 2007 when I first moved to Vegas. At that time, the vet diagnosed her with a chronic, lifetime eye problem and began prescribing prednisone, which caused some kind of a white milky film to form over her eyes because I continued the medication as directed until one week ago!

In 2009 my GSD developed a vulvar infection. Took her to this vet EVERY TWO MONTHS for the ENTIRE year--checking and rechecking--and it NEVER went away.

In 2010 I lost my job and couldn't afford this vet dance and called in to request that the vet just refill my dog's prescription. Fortunately they refused because I FINALLY WOKE UP AND TOOK MY DOG TO ANOTHER VET FOR A SECOND OPINION!!!

Went to AAA All American Animal Hospital. The vet didn't agree with the previous diagnosis regarding my dog's eyes, AND prescribed something else. He told me it would take a little longer to clear up the redness in her eyes due to the prolonged prednisone treatment but said it wasn't lifelong!

AND HER VULVAR INFECTION CLEARED UP ENTIRELY WITHIN ONE WEEK AND IT WAS VERY RAW AND SORE (IT DIDN'T START CLEARING UP WITH CHEYENNE'S TREATMENT FOR ABOUT 4-6 WEEKS!!!) Not only did this vet provide a thorough exam, he shaved, cleaned her, and showed me how to continue the treatment. (Cheyenne barely lifted her tail.) We left AAA feeling like she was definitely on the road to healing AND we were right!

When reading reviews you can see both negative and positive for somebody you're considering. It's confusing.

My advice: ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE GIVING IN TO A LIFETIME DIAGNOSIS AND/OR IF SOMETHING DOESN'T CLEAR UP BY THE SECOND VISIT!!!

BTW: When I picked up my GSD's vet records from the hospital, one vet blamed the infection on anything but faulty exams and diagnosis' on their part! He also stated that HE WAS UNABLE TO GIVE A FULL AND COMPLETE EXAM!!! IF THE VET CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT, HOW DO THEY EXPECT ME TO FIGURE IT OUT!!! WASTED MY MONEY, TIME AND MY POOR DOG'S HEALTH AT THIS PLACE!

I have taken my sweet Maltese/shiatsu dog to the Cheyenne West Animal Hospital since I go him two years ago. I have seen several of the doctors there and they were all caring, helpful, and compassionate to my dog as well as me. I have boarded my dog there several times and he is always well cared for and happy. They are a bit expensive but I believe you get what you pay for--and their care is the best.Bev M

I live very very far away from the place and I was trying to reach the vet 3 days before my appointment so I can describe to her my pet's situation and see if it's really necessary to come in or not, however, I didn't hear anything from her, and the day I went, I brought in my sick pet along with my pet turtle(the turtle is fine), she seen my turtle before and I was just having her take a quick look at her to make sure she's looking good and happy, I didn't tell the doctor the turtle is NOT feeling well. And no surprise, I got charge examine fees on the turtle as well although she only examine it for less than 1 minute. The more I went, the more I felt the vet DIDN'T really feel passionate about being a vet, if she's really a good vet whose very passionate about an animal, why would she charge you so much for something she enjoys doing? I won't be going back there again

I paid $93 dollars so that the doctor could tell me that my two rats were inopperable and she suggested euthanasia at $24 per rat.

This is in addition to that fact that I worked at least 10 hours to earn the money to be told something I was already pretty sure about to begin with.

It's all about money there, please find someone else with compassion and common sense.

If you adopt a child, they say that it comes to feel just like your own; born of your own body... a SPIRITUAL link that takes all precedence over actual, factual, DNA. Dr. Hewitt seems to actually understand this (few "vets" do!); that some animals make their way into our hearts and lives and families and attain adopted child status... so thank God for physicians that realize this and treat them as members of a family. My dog has well earned the love we feel for her, so thank you, Dr. Hewitt, for your EXCEPTIONAL devotion to her health and well being!

Very expensive but that's not the problem. The vets are afraid to make a diagnosis so they run up a lot of tests a still can't make the right choice. I took my cat there twice because he was having a hard time urinating and after much concern I finally took him to a cat's only hospital where they diagnosed him in ten minutes and literally save his life because his bladder was ready to rupture. This vet knew what she was doing. I really don't think Cheyenne does even though there hospital is clean ,new, and has all the equipment. You have to know the animal and if you have a cat do not take them to Cheyenne.

THE SAVIORS AT CHEYENNE WEST ARE ANGELS MASQUERADING AS HUMAN BEINGS. I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS HOW GRATEFUL I AM, TO THEIR ENTIRE STAFF. GOD BLESS DR.SHAVER IN PARTICULAR! DR.SHAVER IS THE MOST ETHICAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE, COMPASSIONATE VET I HAVE YET TO ENCOUNTER IN THIS VALLEY. I AM ETERNALLY INDEBTED TO HER. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HER AND HER STAFF. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I have taken my two cocker spaniels to Dr. Brian Hewitt for over thirteen years and have no intention of ever changing vets! The staff--both front and back--are exceptional. Their care and compassion for all animals is impeccable and impressive. I feel so fortunate to know these doctors and their team. My girls and I are always greeted and cared for in a first class manner. I truly appreciate all they have done and continue doing for us.

Although I will agree that the veterinarians treated my cat like a family doctor would treat a patient, the price that I paid for a spay procedure was outrageous. I spent close to $300.00 and my cat didn't even get shots or a rabies vaccination. Each time, I waited a long time before I was seen and even once, I waited 5 minutes before I was acknowledged. I had to bring my cat back to them because she had a lump on her stomach and the doctor said to me after the informal waiting room visit, "We won't charge you for the visit". Dr. Lopez was concerned and called me several times after the procedure to check on my cat. That was great but realistically the amount of money I paid for the spay procedure was not great and all said and done, I was angry that it was expensive and not free of complications.

This is the ONLY place I will take my dachshund!! My dog is like my daughter and of course I want the best care for her. Dr. Shaver and her staff is amazing!! I took my little girl there for a spay and I felt so confident that she would be taken care of. That night when I took her home, I paged Dr. Shaver and not even 5 minutes passed and she called right back!! Now that is a great doctor!! If you are looking for the best staff and physicians, look no further!!

PROS: Caring, friendly, and very prompt!!
CONS: NONE at all

I HAVE TAKEN MY TWO DOGS AND THREE CATS TO THE CHEYENNE ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I THINK THEY ARE JUST THE BEST VETERNARIANS IN LAS VEGAS. I HAD GONE TO ABOUT TEN OTHERS IN LAS VEGAS BECAUSE MY DOG, THAT I ADOPTED FROM LIED ANIMAL SHELTER HAD A VERY BAD ONGOING SKIN CONDITION. I TRIED EVERY VET THAT I COULD FIND IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA. I FINALLY MET DR. LOPEZ AND DOCTOR WILLYARD AT THE CHEYENNE WEST HOSPITAL, AND THEY TRIED EVERYTHING, UNTIL THEY FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION FOR MY DOG'S SKIN PROBLEMS. THEY ARE CARING, LOVING TOWARDS ALL OF MY ANIMALS, AND I THINK THAT THEY AREF THE BEST AROUND. THEIR RECEPTIONISTS AND ASSISTANTS ARE FRIENDLY, CARING, AND ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP.
JOANN D.

PROS: DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS WITH A LOT OF COMPASSION
CONS: NONE

I would not take my dog anywhere else. The staff and veternarians are very nice and caring. They go out of their way to call after hours to see how my pet is doing. I have seen two doctors and both are top notch.

We have taken our animals here for the last four years and seen several different veterinarians. We liked each and every one. The front office staff is friendly and helpful. We have also used the kennel when on vacation and feel very comfortable leaving our animals in there care.
