I brought my cats to Mission Pet Hospital on the advice of a dear friend who has had elderly cats with special needs.

The staff at the Hospital are very kind (it's obvious they love animals) and very knowledgeable. Even the staff at the counter is very friendly.

Parking on Valencia can be a bit tricky, but they have a lot around the corner that you can use.

I decided to take my shihtzu puppy here even though this was not her regular vet. I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Jones and hope to continue to take my pet to her should I need to. She seemed genuinely concerned about my pet's health and offered great suggestions. Outstanding service at the front desk, receptive and very accommodating. I did not have to wait very long in the waiting room. I called to ask about a type of immunization and the person who answered the phone was very knowledgeable and sweet (and didn't ask me if I took my pet there). Customer Service at its best!

I've been using MPH since 1987 and have never had anything but great care for cats and dogs both current and dearly departed. I just called them on a Saturday, late afternoon (one of their busiest times), to ask a question about guidelines for introducing a new puppy to an established dog, including questions about the immunization status of the older dog. I did have to wait on hold for a few minutes - but not long. Without hesitating the person on the phone looked up our records, asked good questions about how the older dog interacts with other dogs, etc. This was just a small example of the interactions I've had with both staff and doctors at MPH for the past 20 years. Yes, they're busy - probably because they do great work - but they really do care!

Pros: A few spots in a small lot a block away.

Cons: It's Valencia street - need I say more?

I took my cat to Mission Pet Hospital for about four years. The vets always took a lot of time to explain things to me, in terms I could understand well enough to make decisions (I wish my own doctors were that good about explaining what was going on). The first time I brought him in spotted a heart condition in my cat, for which we successfully treated him for several years. Dr. Jennifer Scarlett had to deliver to me the sad news that he had terminal lymphoma, and did a great job of laying out the options, from kitty chemotherapy (which was unlikely to succeed), to more palliative treatment. She obviously cared a lot, and returned several phone calls about the treatment decisions.

I saw that some other reviewers mentioned issues with the receptionists being busy or nonattentive. Busy wouldn't surprise me, but I always found the people behind the desk very conscientious - just occasionally overwhelmed by the many pet owners who definitely gravitate towards this hospital.

My dog has been a (patient) for over 3 years. She has been given excellent care! All the vets are top notch! The staff is friendly and very pet smart! I have never been over charged and feel that the staff and vets really care about my pet.

They got me in immediately for my sick puppy. Staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. It was very clean, and the vet was nice, efficient and helpful. They didn't overcharge me, I am SO glad we went.

I had an emergency with my small dog, and could not have been more satisfied and comforted by the people I dealt with at Mission Pet Hospital. They were crowded, yet took the time to explain to me what was happening with my dog. It turned out not to be life threatening, and my dog was sent home with me with some medication and instructions. I could not have been happier with the staff, or the final bill for that matter.
I will be bringing my kitty here from now on, too! Great place...in my humble opinion.

I called and made an appointment, which was an difficult. The girl on the phone was more interested in laughing with her co-workers than helping me. When I arrived 2 of of the so called receptionists were too busy in their conversation to even notice someone had come in. I never made it to my appointment, as while I was waiting, the same two receptionists started going over how much marijuana one wanted to purchase from the other. After hearing that I decided this was not a place I wanted to leave my pet at. I guess if you don't mind your pets being taken care of by a bunch of potheads, then this place is fine.

In trying to book an appointment for a dog with a chronic health problem, I was told in a very rude manner that I was not allowed to speak to a vet until my dog had a chart and was an established patient. I have a puppy with a chronic condition, and an acute problem. The rude desk person refused to listen to my questions which would have maximized my upcomming visit there. The vets are supposed be great, but the front desk is rude, unprofessional, and not geared toward patient care.

Vets are great with my pet, but I got billed for a procedure I didn't order, and had a confusing time straightening out my bill. They really need to computerize.

I've taken my dog here regularly, and everything's always been smooth; the vets always take the time to answer all my questions, and have referred me to excellent specialists when needed (my dog had major leg surgery). No complaints here!

Did not keep track of all procedures resulting in a duplicate shot. The staff is nice, but seem out of it at times. It is very difficult or impossible to get an emergency appointment.

If a vet at mph recommends an expensive procedure, get a second opinion first. I unfortunately didn't and a different vet at mph told me it wasn't necessary. But if you and your pet need extra stress in your life this is the perfect vet for you!
