Great soups everyday. Quick and easy to grab and go or stop and enjoy! Indoor and outdoor seating. Get the breadbowl!

Pros: Flavorful, fast

Cons: Small restaurant during peak dining times

Come in with somewhere around five dollars (in cash) and leave very happy. This soup gallery offers free unlimited bread and a wide variety of soups (and salads) to meet any palate. Samples are free and remember to ask about combinations like potato and leak with broccoli and cheddar or clam chowder with lobster bisk. They are always creative, always friendly, and the atmosphere could not be more relaxing. I take all new comers to chicago to this restaurant and they all want to come back. I simply can not recommend this place highly enough. Even on the extremely rare occasion where I found something wrong with my soup they were extremely accommodating and fixed the problem immediately. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing prices, amazing location what else could you possibly need?

Pros: price, taste, and service

Cons: it's not 24 hours and I wish it was, ha.

After seeing all the great reviews I had to try the Soup Box. The soup was cold, they were out of the Italian bread. The soup tasted like canned Progresso soup.

Pros: None

Soup in the summer is weird but it certainly hi+ the spot today for lunch! The pitch is 12 soups made daily. We went with the Lobster Bisque and New England Clam Chowder - both were absolutely better than what you'd find anywhere else. If you want to be normal and celebrate summer, try their flavored ice gelato-ish cold creations. Also made fresh daily, the icy treats are made with REAL fruit - an excellent/refreshing/healtly lunch dessert for a great price!!!

Pros: Excellent soup and wonderful icy creations!

Cons: You definitely need to walk here - no parking. Cash only.

I love the soup selection and the prices are bueno. The bread is also very yummy.

The ice on the other hand is mediocre at best. It's too watery and sugary. It could use a lot more fruit and flavor and much less sugar. It's a good price, but I'd pay more for it to taste better.

I like the neighborhood feel too.

I was one of the people who was there when it first opened and visited it almost every day. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Unfortnately, I moved to the suburbs and there is nothing like it here. I'm still going through withdrawal 5 years later. I wish they would franchise it. It would be a gold mine in the suburban office parks. When friends head into the city, I always tell them to stop by and pick me up something. Miss you guys terribly!!

Pros: simple menu made great

Cons: with they would franchise it

I travel back-and-forth between Chicago and Colorado on a weekly basis. My hobby in Chicago is finding GOOD places to eat. The SoupBox is one of those places. The soups they make are AWESOME. The staff are always friendly.. Heck - they even tolerated me sitting in there to eat with my Denver Broncos Jacket on!! All soups are great and HOT!! The bread bowl is a great way to enjoy the soup as well as the accompanying "soggy bread" that becomes part of the bowl!!

Pros: PRICE, QUALITY, CHOICES

incredibly good soups, staff. We're very lucky to have them here. I could live on soup, but I'm choosy, and The Soup Box is for real-a must go-eat-eat some more-go back every day place!!!!! Can you tell how I feel about this place?

Pros: soups, staff, ambience

Cons: none

well, I am a really big fan of good soups. really good soups are hard to find but i have found so many at the soup box! i have never had a soup there i didn't love. you can even check online to see what soups they are serving any given day. this place makes me so happy. i think they are sneaking happy pills into the soups....

Pros: so yummy, awesome staff, soup soup soup

Cons: not near me :(

Soupbox has a great selection of home made soups and I can't say that I've ever had one that wasn't EXCELLENT. It's more than I usually would like to spend on a bowl of soup ($6-7), but at least I can leave with a full warm belly.

Pros: Home Cooked, Good Selection, Warm

This is the coolest place in the city. There are no sandwiches or salads but what they do make is great. One of the employees told me if we didn't make great soup we wouldn't be in business. Well they are and they are going on their ninth year. I stumbled into this place about a year ago and have been coming back like a junkie since. I love soup (if no one guessed that by now,) and this place is the best in town. Ask for extra bread too, they are eager to give it away. A very simple concept that works, make great soup and the people will come back, I highly recommend this place. Three thumbs up if I could grow an extra hand.

Pros: Fast, Friendly, Awesome

I'm so glad that they're still serving soup! The lobster bisque is my favorite lunch treat. The staff is among the best in the city, and the soups are consistently good. The ice they make in the store during the summer is pretty good to - try the mango. It's not a place to linger over lunch because it gets so busy, but if you want a quick bite while you're out this is the place.

Pros: service and staff, soup

I love the soupbox. I only wish they were open year round. Price is great, soup is great and the people that work there are great. If you like soup go here.

I love lobster bisqe I get it at every restaurant when it is on the menu. I've ordered it at the so called finest restaurants. but I can honestly say with out a doubt that the soup box is the best. I can only say how much I will miss it because, I no longer live in Chicago. but I will be back and we will meet again!

This place is a great place when you want to warm up with soup! It offers a great variety, its hard to choose! There is no place I know that has so much soup to choose from! Plus the people who work there are helpful and friendly!

I absolutely love this place! It's refreshing, healthy, and the people who work there are so friendly! Where can you find a place that has a fruit ice drink that tastes good and is good for you!

Best soup in town. Love the variety and the mixes. Staff is always friendly and polite.

I am a big fan of the Soupbox. When it's hot, I would love to eat Ice Cream all day, but obviously, I would then be 4x's my current weight. So, even more refreshing....italian ice. Good idea. Soup for the other 9 or 10 cold months in Chicago...great. I actually do think the soup is always one of the best in the city. Thanks

if you like soup, this is the place for you:)

July 29, 2002

this place is great for that just right soup. everything is perfect and the food is great.

Pros: food, service, convenience

June 26, 2002

The variety of choices is amazing -- it's hard to pick just one. But, be careful, the temperature of the soup can be outrageously hot. I got split pea here and honestly had to want 15 minutes for it to cool down. Most folks run in and take their soup to go, but the tables are comfortable enough it you want to stay and eat.

Pros: Great selection

Cons: Tough parking
