Alaska Backpackers Inn

I have traveled all over the United States staying in different hostels in all 50 states, and i must say, that BY FAR, the Alaska Backpackers Inn is one of the cleanest, and most well appointed hostels that I have stayed in. Everything was just right, from the attentive staff to the day trip brochures that were offered in the lobby. If you are thinking of coming to Alaska and are doing it on a budget, I highly recommend staying at the Alaska Backpackers Inn.

This is my second stay and I will definitely be returning! Would most definitely recommend! Fantastic location, close to transport, outdoor activities AND nightlife. The hostel itself is comfortable, clean and well run. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There's laundry for a reasonable price, a kitchen, a games/living room (with awesome couches and a huge tv), a reading room and internet on site. This hostel provides everything a traveler would need and more!

I hate to leave this Hostel, but when I come back, I will definitely be staying at Alaska Backpackers Inn, and I will definably recommend ABI to anyone who is thinking of visiting Anchorage. One more thing, the staff here is awesome, Santi, to Ken, to Joe, they definitely know how to make someone feel welcome in their Hostel

This place was was amazing! this was my first time here and I plan to come here again. I love the way this place was designed it was so cute. The people here you meet are also very nice and the atmosphere in this place is wonderful!

The people definitely make a place! I loved meeting the other travelers and hearing their story of why the came to Alaska. It's a very nice place to stay and the bathrooms are very clean!!!!

Good location 400 meters from downtown Anchorage. Walk to most attractions in downtown, easy to reach bike and hiking trails. Big kitchen for cooking, fully equipped.

I must say that the environment, location and customer service cant be beat. This Hostel is unique among Anchorage lodging due to the fact that past tenants have left their mark by leaving a little message or a drawing on the walls.

if in Anchorage again I would stay here again no problem, especially since they are affiliated with Hostelling International and provide rate discounts to members like me. For the wireless signal, you could go for lunch at a local coffee shop and stay online that way if you wish.

The host made me very welcome and put me in with a guy from California. He did point out that the hostel has a very different clientele from the summer which I fully support.

Highly recommended, will return for future travel. I give them 5 strars for everything, was a great stay!

The staff was wonderful- friendly and accommodating to my every need- including supplying me with an extra coat and handwarmers when I didn't arrive prepared for the cold. There were three huge fridges and a full size kitchen with every utensil needed to cook stir fry or just heat up a pizza. This meant that my friend and I could travel even cheaper by preparing our own food. We met several interesting characters that more that made the trip worthwhile, in my opinion. The location was perfect- a short walk from downtown anchorage, a grocery store, and a few good restaurants. There was a great used book store down the street that offered some great deals. If I ever get the chance to return to Anchorage (and even if I could afford a big fancy hotel) I would choose to stay at ABI!

I just visited Alaska for my spring break- not the wisest choice since there isn't too much to do in Anchorage when everything is covered with snow and you don't have a car! However, my stay at the Alaska backpackers Inn made it all worthwhile. The price was terrific, especially for the best service I have ever received. This was my first time staying at a hostel and first time staying anywhere on my own. At all times I felt completely safe and taken care of.

I needed a room for only one nite in July, 2013, and didn't think twice about calling ABI.I had the same room as a year ago and the same comfort as a year ago thanks.

I stayed at the Backpacker's Inn for 6 nights, and it was relaxed, friendly and there was a terrific camaraderie among the guests. I had a private room ($60/night) with a TV and a fridge Accommodations are simple with few frills, but the bed was comfortable and the staff seemed to go out of their way to assure my comfort. There's a kitchen downstairs of the Blue Building, adjacent to the TV room, a fun gathering place.

These guys are so awesome!! No complaints here, love what they've got going on! When we needed more towels, they were up within minutes.
