Christiana Care Hospital is a very large hospital. I have only had experience with 3 of it's many departments, emergency and obstetrics and NICU.Let me start with the obstetrics department since that is the first contact I ever had with them. I have had 2 experiences with the obstetrics department and both were positive. I have to say that the second, most recent, was even better than the first though I think that may have had something to do with my doctor as well as the hospital. Both of my babies were preemies and stayed in the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) for 2 weeks. I have to say that the NICU nurses are the hardest working people in the whole hospital. They are absolute wonders and most of them are absolutely fantastic!!! The technology in the NICU is amazing and the fact that they can keep the smallest of infants alive and thriving is a total miracle to me!Unfortunately, I also had a chance to visit the ER with my daughter. Everything turned out fine but I have to say that the ER was not equipped to deal with my tiny infant. After an hour of unsuccessful attempts to get my daughter started on IV medication, the ER staff was still unsuccessful. Through the knowledge of a wonderful doctor (Dr. Bhat....see my review) and the expertise of the wonderful NICU nurses, the IV was started and my daughter became stable. Precious time was wasted because the ER was not equipped to deal with us though.Overall, for the general population, I'm sure that the ER experience would go more smoothly. And, overall, I would recommend Christiana Care Hospital!
