Expert Lamp Repair & Restoration

Harold Cates rewired my very old former oil lamp. It had last been wired in 1929! He certainly went the extra mile to make sure that the job was done in the right way. It now has a three way switch and all new insides. I really enjoyed meeting Harold and finding out about his real love for old lighting. In our throw-away society it is a real pleasure to meet someone who invests himself in updating our treasures from the past. I would certainly recomment him.

I found Mr.Cates on another recommendation site. He rewired my parents old chandelier from the 1960's. He took it completely apart and cleaned it, put new candlesticks on and made it better than new. I will definately use him again. He loves what he does and it shows.

I had two lamps that were broken during a recent move. I read the reviews on Harold Cates and Expert Lamp Repair and decided to try him out. I am so happy I did! He was very professional, sweet, trustworthy and did a great job. He got my lamps back to me quickly and charged a very reasonable amount for his time and hard work. I will absolutely use him again and will tell everyone I know about him!

Mr. Cates did a fantastic shop on my pottery barn floor lamp that had a very difficult and time consuming switch! He was very professional and got the lamp back to me quickly as I was taking it out of town. He is very professional, honest and his repairs are reasonable. I highly recommend him

I had an 8 year old floor lamp that stopped working. I found Mr. Cates through the internet and was so pleased (and my mind was put at ease) after meeting him. He is very knowledgeable, honest and caring man. In addition to dis-assembling and analyzing the lamp, Mr. Cates spent a lot of time trying to find a new part. Although it was not possible to get the part (the lamp is from Canada) Mr. Cates charged me too little for all his time and effort. I would recommend Mr. Cates to anyone without hesitation.

Mr. Cates is absolutely a gem! I am beyond happy with his restoration of my vintage, six-arm chandelier. He took the time to carefully hand polish every single crystal, clean, and rewire for me. The presentation was absolutely perfect! He asked that I wait just outside the shop until he had turned off the lights so that I could see my beautiful chandelier shining by itself. Mr. Cates is friendly, welcoming, and passionate about what he does. I will always go to Expert Lamp Repair for anything I need in the future, and recommend him to any and everyone!! I am beyond excited to hang my prize in my library! It's something I will always cherish!

I inherited a large old table lamp, and Mr. Cates completely restored the electrical components and wiring so it works like new - probably better than new! He took particular care to maintain the original appearance of the lamp, reusing visible parts like the pull chains and socket covers to preserve the 'vintage' character of the lamp. We could not be more pleased with the results. Mr. Cates does exellent work in reasonable time for a reasonable price.

Mr. Cates is the most lovely man who fixed 2 antique floor lamps that others had tried but failed to fix. Now the lamps work perfectly and look beautiful. He treats the lamps like they are his own and does the repairs at an exceptionally reasonable price. I will tell all my friends to go to him for lamp repairs.

If you are looking for someone who truly cares about craftsmanship, integrity, timeliness and just plain old good business ... you have found him. Harold loves what he does and it shows. He just repaired my Restoration Hardware lamp and I couldn't be happier. He even went above and beyond and put a new piece of felt on the base of my table lamp! I am so happy I found Expert Lamp Repair and intend to share the experience with my friends. I recommend Harold with a good conscience knowing he will always try his very best.

Harold Cates restored my 1915 craftsman light fixture to it's correct and beautiful original self. He is competent and creative. He was timely and reasonable. He was just the right man for the job. I highly recommend him for any project that is important enough to get it right.

Mr. Cates is a "lamp wizard." I gave him a very complicated custom made lamp that my wife had purchased at a Craft Show, and which had been damaged by some workmen while they were installing new flooring. Not only did Mr. Cates make the lamp function again, it works much better now than it did when we first brought it home. Additionally, I gave him several old art deco lamps with various problems and he quickly returned them all to me, cleaned up, tightened up, and completely re-wired with all new electrical components. It was like getting brand new lamps, at a fraction of the cost. Unless Mr. Cates has a clone somewhere, I don't think you can beat him for quality, attention to detail, or price. I highly recommend him to anyone needing lamp repair, and I will most certainly use his services again.

It is hard to find good repair shops in our disposible society, so I was relieved to find this wonderful shop, and in a location that is convenient for me. Mr. Cates puts care and pride into his work, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the repair he did on a table/lamp combo. I am happy to recommend him to anyone who prefers to keep a familiar or treasured lamp in working condition, rather than spend money to replace it with a lesser quality item. The cost of repair was honest and reasonable for the work done.

I was desperate to find someone who could change the length of a ceiling light I had purchased for my bungalow kitchen. It is a special light and I could not use it in any other room. I could not return it and did not want to anyway because it had the arts and crafts look that I wanted. I knew it was going to be a complex job to make it work.

A very popular lighting place in Nashville recommended that I call Expert Lamp Repair. This was one of the best contacts I have ever made and I have used them several times since. It is great to know that if I find an old light fixture at the flea market or antique store I can buy it without being concerned whether or not it can be made to work.

The work is excellent in every detail and in addition they are patient and pleasant. They strive to get the finsished product exactly like you want and it is obvious that they take great pride in their work.

I've used Expert Lamp Repair a couple of times. The quality of workmanship is great as are the prices. I recommend them to anyone. Most of their business is local, but due to their reputation they have a significant amount of business from out of state.
