We have three Golden Retrievers. Dr. Leach and the Beverly Oaks Veterinary team saved the life of our youngest dog when she was a puppy, and gently cared for our 15 year old when she suffered an acute attack of vertigo in the middle of the night. We had to carry her in to the clinic, and she happily walked out a day or two later.

The front desk knows us by name, and never fails to offer world class service. They are conveniently close by, but we'd travel miles to get the level of care offered here.

IN MY OPINION, THEY KILLED MY DOG. BEWARE; READ BEWARE.... We should have listened when we were advised against taking our pets to Beverly Oaks by animal rescuers. But it was after midnight, they were close and open. Our tiny dog had been attacked by an owl or other wild animal. Upon arrival, getting a credit card was the priority as we waited 20 minutes before they disappeared in the back with her. We waited over an hour in the lobby then said she had a punctured lung, needed surgery and $4k later, she'd be fine. I pleaded to see her but they refused to let us in the back and told us to wait in a room and they'd bring her to see us. I questioned the idea of jostling her around- they promised it was fine. I called a dear friend, a night owl - her dog once had a punctured lung. She assured me this was fixable and not to worry. But she paid $1400.
We waited over an hour. Finally I stepped out & was snapped at to be patient. We waited almost 2 more so I went out and could find no one. I knocked on the forbidden back door. With an attitude, a vet went to 'check'. Minutes later, she came out and said, YOUR DOG IS DEAD.
SHE DIED AS SHE LAID WAITING FOR MEDICAL CARE.We never even got to say good bye- because of their STUPID POLICY.
I did research afterwards and found a punctured lung can be surgically repaired.....WITH ALMOST A 100% RATE OF SUCESS.
They charged nearly $900 for THIS emergency "care," cremation, etc. When I questioned IT, they BULLIED- I was too upset to argue. They never called when her ashes arrived. ANYPLACE THAT WON'T LET YOU GO IN 'THE BACK' BEWARE. THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE. LIKE IGNORING YOUR DYING ANIMAL AS IT LAYS THERE CRYING FOR HELP... 3 HOURS AND THEY DID NOTHING TO SAVE HER LIFE BUT WERE HAPPY TO TAKE MONEY DURING THOSE 3 HOURS....

Today November 23, 2011, the day before Thanksgiving, I realized that I was very low on my cat's thyroid medication. My veterinarian is closed for a few days, so I sent my husband to our alternate vet, Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital with our cat's medication bottle. They REFUSED to give him a few pills to tie us over until next week when my vet comes back. My husband called me from his car and to tell what had just happened.
I could not believe it and thought that maybe my husband did not tell them that my cat is a patient there also and was just there one month ago when my cat got sick where she got a blood test which cost a fortune... and I told him to go back in and let me talk to someone there... So he did and I spoke with the office manager who confirmed what my husband told me. They would not do it!

She told me that because the cat did not get his thyroid blood test with them, they would not give us the pills! I told her that my cat has been on this medication for some time for a chronic condition. She responded by saying that hey were not a pharmacy! . I then asked her if they sold these pills to their patients, and she said yes we do . I cannot not believe that the veterinarians in that office would let my cat get sick rather than give us a few pills..They told my husband that it would be a liability risk!

I am not making a judgment here, I am just telling you all of you out there exactly what just happened to us in this vet's office and that from now on, we will take my business else were. An animal hospital who is more worried about business than the animals is not a place I want to take my animals to!

For the sack of your pets life, DON' GO HERE! For the sake of avoiding the deep hardship you will experience, DON'T GO HERE!

There's no doubt that the people writing good reviews of this hell hole, must work there, are friend or family of those working there or got paid.

DON'T GO HERE! If you do, you'll regret it.

Worst facility in the valley. Stay away. Avoid this place. If you don't believe me just check with the Calif State Board. Use Animal Emergency and Care Center in Woodland Hills.

If I could leave less than one star, I would. I blame them for the death of my cat.

I've had other cats with thyroid problems. With those cats, I would give them regular medications. For some reason, I allowed myself to be convinced by a vet to have my cat get a radiation treatment for his thyroid. I was told that he would have to be there for 3 days, after which he would never need to get daily medication.

Well, they refused to let me see him during that time, claiming that the radiation would be harmful to me. They claimed that he had some mild diarrhea but was doing fine. After the three days were up, they refused to allow me to have him back or to even see him.

It was 10 days before I was able to get my cat back- I was, of course, getting charged per day for him. The staff acted as though this was perfectly normal and that my concerns were unfounded. He died right after I took him home.

PLEASE, DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

Bad!! Worst vet in the valley. They killed my dog, never admitted to fault and then acted like her death was no big deal. I am in the process of suing and reporting their actions to the state board.

You guys are crazy! Beverly Oaks is amazing, I took my cockapoo there after she gave birth to "9" puppies and they treated her like a princess. They gave her food and all of her shots and even checked the puppies for free. Dr.Leach came in and made sure my dog was okay and good to go. And the price was low. Beverly Oaks is a great animal hospital.

I am sad to read all this negative stuff here but I do believe the stuff about the money sadly . They have alot of overhead & certainly have to charge more for their location & all the top of the line equipment etc..so I understand the fees higher.
But to be rude & make the money so much more important than people's feelings is truly sad & will cost this facility patients.
I do understand on the other side of the coin, that many people pay doctors last when in fact they should pay them first! & I imagine this place has been ripped off too many times to count however there is such a thing as diplomacy & I hope & pray the get educated on their bedside manner.
I would definitely use this hospital over Studio City after a very bad experience there in March. NO doubt I would come here or go elsewhere just not Studio City
Dr Laurel Leach is the main draw here. She is truly dedicated, professional, & very very experienced. I understand that getting to her & getting past the rudeness is the problem
I dont know why but they always had alot of rude people at that desk..why? not sure but that can be changed if they work on it
NOW FOR THE BEST REVIEW FOR 2010 for this place:
I had a 13 yr old Mini Schnauzer that would periodically get pancreatitis. She had a bad attack in March & I went to Studio City emergency ..awful ..will never go back, but she made it through with the help of another vet i use that is closer.
But : 6 weeks later she had another attack that just escalated so fast & she was in so much pain..that I made a decision to put her down. So I called Beverly Oaks & explained that I am disabled/ low income: I want to come in & put my dog down, I dont want an exam I am certain she must go & that I put my last dog down there 11 yrs ago ..so please. give me a price now..they did . it was very reasonable
SO NOW: we go in, myself & my 3 dogs cause if you euthanize a pet & the other pets witness & smell the death they will never have to wonder what happened. they know & they grieve & then accept you can say the name etc they are fine..if they know.
They were outstanding: I signed in, I went in the back to a special room they now have just for that with a fireplace, a sitting room , small & intimate..I sat the 2 little sisters mini schnauzers next to us in the chair, I held my sweet dog in my arms & an asian Dr came in with a piece of paper decorated w/ just the dogs name & reason why : pancreatitis. no chart, nothing to scare her. no exam room , nothing..thank god..the Dr asked if it was ok to take her in the back to put an IV in & give her a sedative I said: no problem & they got her right back to me. I held her close to my chest & then he came back in with a paw print he had just made for me to keep, he had to 2 final shots & explained
& it was very peaceful, the best experience ever..the other 2 were so focused on those needles I had to ask them to please look at their sister ..once they see & smell they always turn their head away fast like: OK I KNOW>
then we left. Whoever that girl was at the front desk: she had a piercing below her mouth? she was just wonderful!!!!! best person ever at the front desk!!!! The Asian Dr was great as well. Maybe God just blessed us that night but I have to say: this was the best place to put my precious baby down that night & also 11 yrs before I put my other one down w/ Dr Leach & that was very good as well but I love the new setup
A tip when you go to any vet esp emergency: they are obligated to present to you a treatment plan that is the ultimate treatment, you have every right to ask questions & decline anything you feel you cannot afford or is unnecessary
& thats what I have to do cause of my circumstances however, since I have a gross medical backround I am able to sift through & only do the bare minimum & I accept the outcome but I sacrifice all I have for my girls.
Be clear in the front about your financial situation & always ask the Dr on duty: what if I cannot afford this whole thing, what do you think is the critical part that needs to be done please help me figure this out cause I cannot afford all this
& then you will be able to see if they are truly heartfelt dr's or not ..I assure you Dr Leach hears that & will be honest & help you figure out what you can do that is most critical & she will explain the options & the risks.
If any Dr doesnt comply or explain or give you options..get out & go elsewhere unless it is a true emergency..communication is the key & I do pray they get better help at the desk...like that wonderful girl that worked the night shift when i put my dog down
Best of Luck to You all

The place is a total ripoff. They haven't really done anything to my dog, anything, but nevertheless charged me bunch of money. The stuff is a bunch of stoners. The adoption crew is the only normal people in there. if to go there that only for emergency needs (since they work on Sundays).

If there is anyone that would like to join me in a lawsuit against this vet, please contact me. Everyone is right, it is the worst place ever. I am going to court on April 2, 2010 for a small claims case, but was thinking, how great it would be to have a small army to join. They need to be closed down!
The cat connection attached as well, these people do not care about animals in any way, it's a total facade!

Beverly Oaks has employed numerous receptionists throughout the years, and I have had negative experiences with all of the ones that I have encountered. The last receptionist with whom I had the displeasure of dealing was rude, incompetent, and completely uneducated.

My sister also had a run-in with one of the receptionists a few months ago. She brought her dog to them for a routine exam, and the vet tech decided to weigh the dog when my sister arrived. Then, after waiting for an hour to be seen, my sister decided that she was unwilling to wait any longer. She should have just waked out, but she was polite enough to inform the receptionist that she was leaving. The receptonist then presented her with a $50.00 bill. My sister was stunned. She couldn't understand why she should pay FIFTY DOLLARS for her dog to have been WEIGHED! She told the receptionist that she refused to pay the bill, and the receptionist threatened to CALL THE COPS!!!! My sister reluctantly paid the bill after she and the receptionist had some choice words with each other, and the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude.

The ONLY time I use Beverly Oaks is an EMERGENCY situation, and this is ONLY because they're open 24 hours and they're so close to my house.

This place is a RACKET and they care more about making money than they care about your pet, your time, and the level of respect with which you are treated as a customer.

This place is NOT owned by Dr. Leach or any other vet- it is owned by a CORPORATION by the name of "Juno".

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE and instead go to Dr. Moon, who is much more competent, much kinder, does not try to rip you off, and has an AMAZING staff. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Moon, Eunice, Karen, and Lila.

I was absolutely stunned when I heard that Beverly Oaks had won the Best of L A designation. They must have paid someone off because, based on my experience and most of the others here, they should be Worst of L A! I've been going to them since 2006 and although I always knew that they were expensive, I didn't have any major problems with them, until my dog was diagnosed with cancer late last year. They performed a biopsy on her which cost over $2,200 which was done incorrectly (they targeted the wrong area and the results were inconclusive). My darling girl couldn't even walk after they got through with her. They then wanted to do a second biopsy, saying that this sort of thing is quite common where it needs to be done twice. There was no excuse that this needed to be done a second time. They took numerous x-rays and had ultrasound at their disposal. I was so upset that my dog had to go through the horrible pain of another biopsy because the doctors in question (Drs. Leach and Raj) were unable to determine the site of the (huge) osteosarcoma on her tibia bone. I reluctantly agreed to a second biopsy, only because they said they'd waive the lab fees whereas, if I went somewhere else, I'd pay more. The second biopsy cost over $800 for a total of over $3,000. They finally got it right, but $3,000 for a biopsy is outrageous and my poor dog was in agonizing pain. Her illness progressed quickly and I had to put her down shortly after that. When I called them to let them know that I was coming to put her down, the receptionist said coldly: "We're busy tonight and you'll probably have to wait in the waiting room about 45 minutes to an hour". When I objected she said, "If you don't want to wait, you can go to any city animal shelter that's open 24 hours". I couldn't believe it. It's traumatic enough to go through euthanizing your beloved pet, let alone having to deal with someone like that. I was so distraught when they led my dog away that I followed her in the back (employee area) where they all started screaming at me to get out. I wanted to have a last goodbye with her and was sobbing hysterically. I looked up and saw Dr. Raj smiling, almost like she was going to laugh. It was a nightmare, it seemed surreal. When I finally left, I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach. They are completely devoid of compassion and caring, it's all about the bottom line. I went back a couple of days after I put my dog down to pick up her records and the same receptionist waited on me. There was no mention of my dog's passing and she acted very coldly, like it never happened (minimal eye contact, unfriendly, etc.) I later heard from someone else who had their dog put down there a few years ago that they received a card and flowers and even free euthanasia! They charged me $165 to put my dog down after botching her surgery and all the tens of thousands of dollars I threw their way. We now go to Studio City Animal Hospital just down the street and I've been extremely happy there. They're friendly, caring and honest. Dr. Matsuka is wonderful, she really cares about animals and makes follow-up calls to inquire how your pet is doing. I just wish that I would have switched years ago.

I have been going to beverly oaks hospital for many years and I really liked Dr Leach, but after spending over 10,000 on my animals, they both came down with heart disese, I probley have seen all the doctors there and the worst has to be Dr Franklin, my dog required a lot of medication and I started ordering it thru petmeds. They would take so long to approve it I would run out, so I would call them to get a few meds untill the delivery came. On one ocasion I was lectured by a recepionist on how unfair it was to other clients for me to request those meds with out 24 hour notice, I went down there and was told by the receptionist and dr franklin they couldnt honer my request, Even though the other doctors did. I got very emotional and told them you gave my dog a death sentence and now you refuse to give me a few pills to get him by (whichI always paid for) because you took days to approve the petmeds order. the waiting room started to get crowded and dr franklin finally relented as long as I signed a paper relieving them of all responsbilty, and the receptionist kept saying sign the paper and you ll get what you want, I was so upset I finally signed it got my meds and left, the next time I ordered my dogs meds from petmeds I was told beverly glen refused to acknowledge it, What a caring vet, I emailed dr Leach and never got a reply I changed vets and my dog who was given 6 months to live has surpassed that by 5 months, Id advise if you love your animal dont go there their all about money and dr franklin needs to change careers or learn compassion and dr leach should shut down too many complaints and I can see why!

These people prey on the fear of owners of sick and injured animals by price gouging. I've visited lots of vets both for my own pets and fosters, and I've never seen prices like this. Their facility is also very dirty. I wiped up a mess my dog made on the floor and came up with black grime. Don't go here if you can help it.

I've been working with animal rescue for years, so I've been to the vet's FAR more often than I've been to any human doctor. When I read the Yelp reviews, I hesitated about going there, but I really needed an emergency vet provides 24-hour care, not just off-hour care. I've been to Beverly Oaks three times now, and I still don't understand all the bad reviews they're getting on Yelp. My experiences have been very different.

The entire facility is clean, organized and attractively decorated. All the staff members we met were competent, friendly and personable, as were the doctors (we saw Dr. Leach and Dr. Turner). Yes, they're expensive, but their prices are similar to what I'd expect in similar practices: 24-hour care, very experienced doctors and modern facilities and equipment.

We went in for an emergency situation and were very satisfied with the care our foster dog received. We can't afford to use Beverly Oaks for our regular vet, of course (we spend thousands of dollars a month on vet care, so we have to be frugal), but they are now our preferred vet for emergencies and medical situations that require serious care.

I encourage people reading these Yelp reviews to consider Beverly Oaks' positive reviews, perhaps even give them more weight than the more numerous negative reviews, which don't seem to be accurate either in fact or spirit.

Beverly Oaks animal hospital has its good moments, and I would trust them with surgery, and their outside specialists, but PR is lousy. Focus is finely tuned to $ generation machine like a people's hospital to squeeze every last dime out of you. Cancer surgeon was supposed to call me with a price for liver surgery (after I spent about $2000 on tests) and office manager focused on cost of surgeon consult- apparently I'm supposed to pay to get a price quote for surgery. Manager won't discuss negative on-line ratings. K-9 loft opened across street and I would also try them. Parking for Beverly Oaks is excellent, on street in front and they have a back lot. Plus is that they are open 24hrs.

Beware!!! This is the cruelist most inhumane animal hospital I have been too!!! Beware of the technicians because if they make a mistake with your pet, you will have to pay for an add'l office visit to consult with Dr. Leach. She will not speak with you or look at the expressed problem unless you agree to pay for her time!! Outragous!

The worst Vet experience i've ever had in 20 years of owning animals. Do NOT go here under ANY circumstances. I've never felt less sure of a diagnosis, the procedure by which to diagnose, or the doctor's skill, she herself didn't seem sure.
They charged me more for digital x rays than i've ever paid, human or animal. They also make you pay in full same day.
The receptionist didn't seem like she could care any less and mumbled. She avoided eye contact and never smiled even though i was obviously felt worried about my cat. I felt so anxious the whole time i was there (which was 3 hours, one person in front of me briefly).
My cat has also never acted so scared and uncomfortable in any other vet office or anywhere on this earth for that matter , and she's not a kitten.

The weighing and temperature tech didn't even set the scale to zero first and then really wondered for a moment whether or not the reading of 3 pounds was right for a full grown cat. I picked her up and said it probably needed to be reset. i've also never seen a vet use an anal thermometer that took so long to register a reading. It seemed like a full minute. That has to be uncomfortable. for all the extra money they tack on compared to others, you'd think they could afford better technology.
I brought my cat in because it had been throwing up, it seems she swallowed a rubber band, because parts of one came out. Something that looks exactly like the rest of the rubber band she swallowed showed up on my expensive x rays. Now that it's at least mostly out of her system (no thanks to anyone but her) she seems better, but i'm taking her somewhere else that i can trust to follow up. The vet said it was probably metal, but way she barely spoke to me about it and dismissed me seemed like she'd never heard of anything else showing up that well on an x ray except metal. there's nothing in our house in that shape that is metal and it looks like a rubber band. I've seen other animal x rays where rubbery plastics show up really well. She didn't comfort my cat or seem to care that much. She also went ahead and gave me name brand medicine for my kitties mild infection or stomach irritation instead of asking if i wanted generics.

It smelled horrible and the exam rooms were really uncomfortable, especially for such a long wait. Our pants stuck to the gross old dirty bench paint. f you love your little furry friend, find a good vet to take it to, and research another emergency vet you can take it to ahead of time, just in case. Just NEVER go here.

The worst! Horrible!, horrible, horrible.. Don't think about going there! The guy at the front desk did not show .01% concern during an emergency with my dog, he started telling me prices thinking I couldn't afford it and we can, told me it would be half an hour to get someone to look at my pet, 40 minutes later, he comes back and tells me it'll be another hour. The guy was leaning on the counter as I struggled to open the door with my pet and struggled to leave out the door. Today I find out that the BBB gives them an F rating and 12 out of 15 reviews on one site are 1 star... This is a really nice part of Los Angeles and you get this kind of service. I would quit if I were a doctor there or insist on getting it together. When you see that you have an F rating with the BBB..
you work on your business. Gosh. I'm pissed off at how people can run things and get away with it.
+++++++ please read ++++++++++++++++++++++
oh.. and they lost out on at least $2500 considering my dog ended up in the City of Angeles hospital after two visits to another emergency clinic...

Juliana, I'd like to inform you that no, the place isn't the best for boarding, but as a veterinarian, Dr. Leach is the most professional woman you will ever come across and knows her stuff. The reviews on how the employees are treated were written years ago- Check the dates. Dr. Leach is not nearly as profitable in the business as she should be, because she goes the extra mile every time for every animal she treats. She keeps her employees in check and will not accept any behavior from them that is less than professional. I've had personal experience in the work field there and to ILONA S- Dr. Leach does not recommend euthanization unless there is no other option. Clearly you were looking for an easy way out with your cat rather than giving it the proper care recommended by BOAH for the cat to survive.

I'm sadistically pleased to see how many bad reviews this place has gotten. If you care at all about your pet, DO NOT take them here.

I needed a place to board two of my cats for a week because I was in the process of moving and couldn't keep them anywhere else on short notice. I searched online and found that Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital had boarding available immediately. I was told the accommodations were very nice, and that my cats would be "spoiled". I figured they should be since I was paying about $1,000 for the week, plus grooming. When I got there, they led me to a room upstairs that smelled kind of gross and was not at all the cat-haven I had imagined. There were different sized cages placed all around the room, and that was it. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I thought there might be more room for them to move around and some toys or something. It broke my heart to leave them there like that, but this was nothing compared to what would happen during the course of the next week. I paid the required $700 deposit with a credit card and left.

I came to visit my cats a couple of times and they seemed alright, all things considering, though they were pretty unhappy to be stuck in that cage. The day I came to finally take them home, they made me wait for about 45 minutes even with my appointment, and there was literally no one else there. They brought my cats out and the receptionist told me the bill was $1,000. I informed her that I'd already paid the $700 deposit and she said she couldn't find proof of payment on the computers or anywhere else, so she told me I needed to bring in my original receipt or else I'd have to pay the full price. She then let me know that she knew which nurse ran my credit card and made the mistake of not recording it properly, and that she was "a dumb b*tch." Very professional. When I got home and let my cats out of their carrier, they really smelled bad and I noticed that one of my cat's toes was bleeding. Upon further examination, it looked like one of his claws had been ripped out. I immediately called the "hospital" and asked them about this. They gave me the run-around for a while and finally told me that during one of the grooming sessions, my cat "freaked out" and injured himself on the edge of the tub. I asked why, since they were a hospital, they didn't seem to have treated the injury properly and they told me that they had wrapped a bandage around his foot, but that he must have taken it off at some point. Really great supervision. When I finally spoke with the hospital manager (she wasn't in until a few days later), I asked her, among many other heated questions, why they never called to tell me my cat had been injured. She told me they had a policy of not letting the owners know about injuries while their pets were in the hospital's care because some of their clients are "old people" who might get really upset and I guess they feared they would have "old people" strokes or heart attacks. As ridiculous and offensive as I thought this was, they had my information and could check to see that I was 22 and most likely was not going to keel over from the news. On the upside, while speaking with the manager, she looked in my file and found my proof of payment. So, yay.

Places like this really make me sad and angry; places that on the surface seem as if they care about animals and your pets' well-beings, but will
cut corners and be deceptive to save money (and steal it from you).

To the guy who used more than one dog metaphor for his rating: I feel like you either work at Beverly Oaks, you've turned a blind eye to certain things that have happened, you're very rich, or you've gotten extremely lucky if you have in fact not had any bad experiences in ten years. Yes, businesses need money to operate. However, if there's a place that many people can barely call a "business", due to negligence, poor ethics and incompetence, there's a problem. I think most people would agree that even though the prices are exorbitant, they might seem more reasonable if the amount of care was proportionate, which it is not according to the majority of their clients. Have you actually read some of these horror stories? They make my experience seem like Christmas morning. If Dr. Leach is as great as people say, then she should get off the sinking ship that is Beverly Oaks as quickly as possible.

BEVERLY OAKS IS TOTAL RIPOFF, PADS BILLWITH UNNECESSARY MEDICATIONS! BEWARE!!!OVER PRESCRIBES MEDICINES WHEN YOURANIMAL IS SICK OR ABOUT TO DIE..This place has too many people running around the office to make it appear to 'look good'. It is run by one woman who is never available when you have a question or want to challenge a billing error. This horribleHospital is a GOLD Mine for it's owner. Be prepared to overpay for INFERIOR CARE. My cat was dying. No change of reversing the condition and they sentme home with six different medications including4 injections to be given daily for a week. She wasFIV POSITIVE; I took her to another vet and onehour later they agreed to euthanize her. The place has a large staff and payroll to meet...and YOU PAY FOR IT. I HAVE SIX CATS AND THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF A SCAM HOSPITAL...STAY AWAY!!! They take advantage of peoplewho are traumatized with a sick or dying animal.,and overcharge and over prescribe. WATCHOUT!!! BEWARE !!!

WATCHOUT!!! BEWARE !!!

Hands down the best and most caring place around.Dr. Leach is the best vet you can get.She goes the extra mile every time.I have been taking my rottie. there for ten years and we can sleep better for it.They know what to do and how to do it. When you have a special little one (140 lbs.) you want the very best for your baby.If your looking for bargains you get what you pay for. They are the best place in town and for me that's what counts.Dr. leach is the greatest , Pauly and I thank you.
From 1-5 woofs they get a 10 plus.

In response to just a few other people's comments.

It's not all about the bucks, mister business man.Try staying in business by telling your creditors I'll pay you this much in three weeks. Lets see how long you stick around. Then ask your staff, bank and all the other people that you owe money too the same.thing.- Guess what ???,You'll be out of business and on your ass in a New York minute . i hope you like selling hot dogs to people who don't want to pay you and for the same reason you don,t want to pay (jerk)...Bottom line, when you need the best care at any given time (24-7) who you going to run to ( not Costco)? Don't think twice about it.You and Fido will thank me for these few words many many years down the road.
again ,thank you DR. Leach and staff

This place is horrible!! Every negative review is 100% accurate. The only reason to ever bring your animal here is if it was hit by a car at 3 am and your animals life was at risk but be ready for excessive fees.

I have mixed feelings about this place and I'll tell you why. I brought my 9 yr old Yorkie into this vet on a Sunday night because he had diaherra that just wouldn't go away. The first thing I noticed was that the office was pretty old. The girl at the front desk was nice though, she signed me in and we waited patiently in the lobby. After about 10 min, they moved us into an exam room. We waited there for another 20-30 minutes, because a bigger emergency came in. No problem. I waited patiently b/c if MY dog had a big emergency, I'd want him to be seen ASAP.

The issue with waiting that long in the exam room is that I got a chance to look around and see how dirty the office was. It was gross. Dust bunnies floating across the ground. Rusty exam table. The barbicide disinfectant was slimy and green (its supposed to be blue). And the worst thing was the thermometer they used to take my dogs temperature. They used a digital thermometer that was sitting a glass and didnt put any protective sleeve on it. Just grabbed it, stuck it in his butt, got the temp, and put it back in the glass. Yuck!

Anyway, we had to wait even longer for the vet to come in b/c she was dealing with an emergency. As I sat there waiting, I could see the vet techs and assistants walking by. All the guys had their scrub pants sagging off their butts (very 'hood) which I thought was kinda unprofessional. And the staff looked like the avg age was 21 years old. They were all soooo young. Not a problem, because I'm young too, but I guess I just expected more.

After the vet came in (she was VERY nice), she looked at the dog and examined him a little. My only complaint is that she kept calling him OLD. He's 9. He's not 17. I literally had tears in my eyes as she called my baby dog "old man". I guess it just hurt to hear it from a doctor.

After she left, a vet tech came in and grabbed the dog. I literally had to ask where she was taking him and what they were gonna do because she didnt explain it to me.

The upside is they gave my dog an antibiotic shot and some meds to take home and after a week, his diaherra went away. Thank goodness.

I came across this so called "Animal Hospital? because my puppy out of nowhere started vomiting and had uncontrollable diarrhea in the middle of the night and this was the closest 24 hours vet office to my house. Being the only person there at 2 AM they still made me wait 45 minutes in the waiting room and more than an hour in the observation room (mind you that my puppy throw-up twice already while we waited and no one seemed to care much, but that??s besides the point) before the doctor came. Not even looking at my puppy or anything the Doctor just came and said they will need to do several test such as two X-Ray exams (one lower body and the second upper body?WHAT????) and a blood exam before he can see and do anything for me. He quickly pulled out a contract and an estimated invoice for $700+ and told me to sign it and give it to the front desk as he left the room. So after 2 hours of waiting its now 4 AM and I denied signing the $700+ contract so they told me in a nice way to leave, but before I left they gave me a $90 after hour office fee.

After getting no result and $39 short I waited until 8 AM and took my baby to my regular vet??s office in North Hollywood (don??t want to advertise even though I think I should) I paid $85 for the visit which included two shots and a weeks worth of medication. My puppy felt much better and stopped vomiting the next day and his diarrhea ended the day after.

Beverly Oaks seems to just be a business of collecting money from hard working people who love their pets. They take advantage of people who bring their sick, ill or injured pets and milk them for all they got with unnecessary testing and treatments to increase the bill as much as they can and more.

The funny thing is if I was rich and had the money I would have agreed with the $700+ invoice and paid it. It is very hard to deny treatment for your beloved pet as they lay their in your arms crying and being ill. Beverly Oaks knows this and they take advantage.

STAY AWAY FORM THIS PLACE?THERE ARE SEVERAL BETTER PLACES IN THE VALLEY TO TAKE YOUR PETS..IF YOU DON??T TAKE MY WORD READ THE OTHER REVIEWS ABOVE AND BELOW THIS ONE.

This place is horrible. DO not use it even for ER - go to Studio City or to McClave in Reseda or VCA in West LA. My dog was rushed there for emergency surgery and all they could do was keep asking for the bill. I kept trying to transfer her out and they said if I did she would die...I was not allowed to see her and she ultimately died! I used to volunteer with a rescue group that used them and I was appalled at the treatment of some animals. Several years ago, I took an ill dog from the shelter there - it was a sunday evening and I told them he needed help right away. They stuck him in a cage, no one did anything and he died the next day. They are overpriced, have caused the death and extreme suffering of many animals. You will wait forever, overcharged for substandard care. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. They are thieves!!

I had gone here for about a year before I became fed up. Long waits and unprofessional front desk is a constant. Saw two different Dr's here and they never really came to the route of the problem, but never stopped testing my cat and charging me hundreds of dollars. I went to Studio City Animal Hospital and was so shocked to leave after a visit, a few tests, and with medication for less than $200.
Do not go to Beverly Oaks!!

Its all about money. the staff and doctors are violent and abusive towards animals and clients. A staff member assaulted me with a clip board. THEY HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED NUMEROUS TIMES BY THE STATE BOARD OF VETERINARY MEDICINE.

Can anyone please shut this place down.

Koa (2 month old kitten) ate too much can food with Salmon oil. An hour after eating it she started getting really sick (throwing up and foaming at the mouth), afraid of dehydration I took her to Beverly Oak Emergency even though I should know better. They wanted me to sign a piece of paper saying I??d agree to pay a bill of $732.00 to START treatment. I was furious to say the least ...I said, ??you haven??t even seeing the cat and you??re asking me all these tests not even knowing what emergency she has?? ----I crossed $530.00 of the bill and asked them to put some fluids on her and give her some medication to prevent vomiting. I wanted to get her stabilized until 7:30AM when I could rush her to my own Vet. I'm an animal behaviorist for 23 years and I've around sick pets thousands of time, I knew all she had was a bad stomachache. The attitude this Beverly Oaks gave me was absurd ...first when they saw I wasn??t going to pay the starting fee, they never put us in a examination room; secondly when they brought her out (through the reception) I was asked to wait and the doctor was going to come and speak to us. His speech was ??spacey? (almost like he was high) and said she probably had some spinal injury. I said ??WHAT?? ....she never fell from anything! Well ....she seems tender on her back (which she was NOT at that point) and I should give her baby aspirin and pepto-bismol when I got home. On the way home she seemed to be getting worse (now screaming and twitching) ....to make a long story short, she never stopped SCREAMING until 3:45AM with agonizing pain. At 1:30AM I called the Vet to ask him if the injections he gave her could make her sore since she clearly was in pain ....do you know what he said to me? Here is the conversation:
Doctor: -- ??Well ...no, those injections shouldn't make her scream like that?....
Me: --?Doctor, she??s worse now comparing to when I brought her to you ....before she had nausea and severe stomachache ...now she??s in excruciating pain! Something is wrong here.?
Doctor: -- ??Hummm ...yeah her case is very strange ....I gave the same pain medication to another cat and he??s not screaming ....maybe she??s just a drama queen, I don??t know.?
Me: -- ??Are you telling me that a 2 month old kitten screaming in pain is a drama queen, doctor??
Doctor: --- ??yeah, it could be. If you want you can bring her back and we can X-Ray her like we intended from the beginning?

At 7:30AM she was rushed into my normal Vet who diagnosed her with an overdose of reglan (anti-vomiting medication). She's still in treatment and I'm praying she won't have permanent neurological side effect due to an incompetent doctor.

UPDATE:
Well ...the combination of both drugs administrated by Dr.Connelly (Buprenex + Reglan) made my kitten not just disoriented and confused with muscle spasms but it also made her to hallucinate --- literally she was seeing things ...that's where the screaming and agony was coming from, not in pain as I interpreted at first ---- I've never encountered an animal hallucinating from an overdose before so I didn't know it was possible, to be honest. Thank God, she's fine now and miraculously didn't have neurological damage from the overdose I'll be happy to add force here and as mentioned by the above comment ...I'd love to see this place shut down as well. Seriously.

I rescued a cat and took him here, where Dr. Leach did great work on him, and got him somewhat stable. The Animal Cruelty Task Force needed copies of the medical record in order to present the case to the DA. This clinic refused to give the records until I paid the bill in full!! This was a criminal investigation! I had already paid half, and I explained I was fundraising to cover the other half, and would get the money to them within the next week, but they did not care, they just wanted the money. They were so cold and uncaring! And to top it off, the kitty died. Dr. Leach was great, but the fact that they wouldn't give the paperwork to the cops so the case could move forward just made me sick. I will never go there again.

Dr. Leach is my dogs vet and has been for many years. I have paid in many many thousands and when Boris nearly died they did help him get better. It was shockingly expensive and I have referred them numerous clients and never received a discount. I heard they treat many celebrity clients so I figured the services were good. However, in my experience you have to track them down and call repeatedly for results which they always tell you they have to call you back, after the third or fourth request and you have told them that you have called back 3 or 4 times they will call you back. However the staff often loses information, double bills you and many other things. Boris doesn't like going there and begins whining and crying immediately pulling away on his leash and I feel terrible I wasn't listening to little boo. This is the third time they lost blood work results- requesting I bring Boris back for the tests- yet later my bill reflects that two tests were charged for! The incompetence of the staff has finally left me requesting my dog's history and moving on. I will never do business with them again.

My five year old sheltie went to this vet because he was throwing up. turned out he had pancreatitis. They told us he would be OK he just needed to stay in their hospital for a couple of days. He did not make it. He passed away alone in that hospital without any of his loved ones there. We never got to say goodbye. When we spoke to the vet over the phone he kept referring to our beloved dog as a female. Our dog was a male. In this horrific time for our entire family the doctors and nurses treated his tragedy as nothing more than routine business. They refused to release his body for an autopsy until the many thousands of dollars in bills were paid. This happened 10 years ago and is still one of the most horrible events in my entire families lives.

This evening I went to Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital to pick up a bag of dog food. I stood at the reception counter for more than10 minutes and eventually left without making a purchase. Although the clinic was quiet, of the three staff members behind the desk, none made eye contact or even acknowledged my presence although only one person was talking to another customer. Unfortunately this seems to be the norm and if you phone in, you are dealt with abrasively over the phone. They overcharge for their services and insist on running tests that are costly and probably unnecessary for the most routine of ailments. The staff seem to be very young, inexperienced and untrained in even the most common of courtesies. Needless to say this was my last visit and I will take my business elsewhere in the future.

In my 30+ years as a pet owner, this is the worst experience I have ever had with a vet. I took my dog for emergency care and after 3 days of hospitalization and numerous intrusive diagnostic tests costing thousands of dollars, these vets had no idea what was wrong with my dog, wanted to do exploratory surgery and eventually gave me a completely wrong diagnosis. They were inexperienced, rude, dismissive of my suggestions and combative in response to my questions -- they told me nothing except that they needed to do more expensive tests. I had to beg them in tears to be nice to me because my dog was dying. As soon as I could (it was after-hours on the weekend), I took my dog to a wonderful vet -- Dr. Richard Martin of Brentwood Pet Clinic who, in 10 minutes, diagnosed what Beverly Oaks couldn't diagnose after 3 days -- it was a problem with my dog's heart and Dr. Martin referred me to an amazing cardiologist, Dr. Sarah Zimmerman of Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Lawndale, who could not save my dog, but who provided her with the best medical care and provided me with the utmost respect, comfort and kindness. Stay away from Beverly Oaks -- do not subject your pet or yourself to their horrible treatment, their inexperienced vets and their rude uncaring staff.

PROS: NONE
CONS: TOO MANY TO LIST

This place is the worst!

We took our cat here for emergency care.
These people ran a battery of tests, charged $500 to our credit card and then did NOTHING AT ALL to even try and help our cat or tell us what could be wrong.
Once the tests results were in (nearly 24 hrs later than promised) they refused to discuss them
insisting that we spend an additional $1,400 for an
Ultrasound (to be conducted thirty miles away from our home) before they would give any sort of opinion whatsoever. By this time 48 hrs had elapsed, $500 was paid and still our cat received absolutely zero help from these people.

The vets who saw our pet were inexperienced; they were noncommittal and cold, cold, cold. The staff is worse: incompetent, rude, dismissive.

We spoke with freinds and found a different vet who treats our pets, and us, with kindness and respect.

PROS: ZERO
CONS: Poor vets. Abominable staff. Terrible treatment of pets and humans.

We found their vets were competent. However, their staff is incredibly incompetent. We must have been promised call-backs over a dozen times, ALL of which were never returned. Every time we call, we are stuck on hold for 20-30 minutes with numerous interuptions from the staff thinking it was a brand new call, and numerous times we had to give our information again and again and again to staffers since they had forgotten our call or passed us off to some other clueless staffer to be put on hold yet again.

PROS: Competent Vets
CONS: Bad Staff

Dr Laurie Leach is a fantastic vet. She put one of my dogs to sleep and was so caring and wonderful to me as she takes the time to understand not only the animal's emotions but the owner as well.. She is an excellent surgeon and has been extremely fair with pricing as I have a few dogs. She takes everything into consideration. She has been a great @ removing cancer with local anesthetic from my one dog, diagnosing her with Cushings and She Works with me to provide me and my 3 dogs with EXCELLENT CARE! . I cannot speak for any other doctor and some of the staff is not easy to deal with, but DR LEACH IS WORTH ALOT!!. A Hard Find in Sherman Oaks, I lived there a long time, alot of bad vets, she is a gem ..Also 24 hour hospital saves money and time and worry, never have to transport from emergency clinic to vet. You can override the staff as Dr Leach will e-mail you results, some staff great, some lemons.. but main thing, you need a great vet/surgeon and 24 hrs! Dr Leach outstanding!

PROS: Dr Laurie Leach Great Vet and Surgeon! 24 hour hospital care
CONS: office staff :some lemons!(not all) big place but 24 hours!
