I took my son to Griffith Park Boys Camp this summer for the first time. I am quite busy and work a lot and unfortunately can't spend enough time at home with him and I figured I would send him for a week to make new friends and learn from new potential role models. When I walked in to register him, all the staff was visible and present, and they were very pleasant and friendly. They all had camp names like Zephyr, and T-Rex and Beast, which made things more fun and put my son at ease. When I picked him up at the end of the week, he told me he had the best time and wants to come back again, which I did re-register him for the last week. Check in was very organized as was the checkout. They gave him a snack box, a picture of the cabin and even a newsletter for the week. With the newsletter I was able to see pictures and read about everything that happened at camp that my son might have left out. I had a great experience here and will be sending my son to camp more often. I hear they have a Father / Son weekend sometime this upcoming fall and hope I can get into that.

as a young kid I used to love coming out to the Observatory and the Griffith Park with family and friends as a parent, lately the park rangers have harassed and complicated things at the park with their racial profiling. Hispanics can't

My son and his friends went to Griffith Park Camp a few years ago for 2 consecutive years. The first year, he and his friends had a great time and everything was great so we enrolled them the following year. That year was not a good year, where 2 out of 5 of his friends got injured during their stay. It was due to lack of supervision. One friend had to go home because he broke his arm and the other friend had a huge bruise on his face the size of a grapefruit. These were some unfortunate events. The person in charge was very responsible and apologized for the accidents.

Both Wilson and Harding offer great golfing value . The best times to play these courses are early mornings during the week as they are very crowded and play is very slow later in the days. I have teed off at 5:45 during the week and have finished in under 3.5 hours, so an early morning golfer has a big time advantage. An afternoon round can easily last over 5.5 hours. The conditions are inconsistent, sometimes well maintained while other times you might think you're on a goat track. They are beautiful courses . Wilson was designed by George Thomas, who also designed Riviera and LACC north.

Cons: very slow play at times, poor playing conditions at times,

I agree with the majority of the comments made before me: It's hard to get tee times, Wilson is better than Harding, not bad for a city course. That said, I felt the responsibility to inform people that the course consistently plays extremely slow. I live 10 minutes from there and play fairly often and I haven't finished a full 18-hole round there in under 5 hours for at least 5 years. This is due to the number of people that play the course as well as the quality of players and the fact that it does have long holes and allows people to walk.

this is a pretty nice place to golf. it has several options. take to the golf course with the heavy wooded area, or just take your time and go to the driving range. there are 2 levels so your almost gaurenteed a spot. it has reasonable pricing and the staff is really nice.

The Griffith park is up in the hills next to the hollywood area. This park is huge with lots of activities. You can hike, relax on the grass, picnic or bbq, play with kids, attend concerts... The main concern that I had is with finding the way though. There are several entrances and the signs (quite rare) in the park are very confusing. There is noone to give directions so it's really better to plan ahead and print out all that you need otherwise you will waste a big part of the day. The parking is quite difficult is some areas also. CHeck with the website because recently they have been closing some parts for construction work.

I went for a round of golf here with three friends of mine and had a pretty good time. We went during the week and lucked out as there was virtually no one else on the course that morning. The environment is pretty nice as it's a heavily wooded area and the course was in good repair. Prices were very competitive though we walked instead of renting a cart. I'd recommend this course if you're in the area and are looking to try out a new set of holes.

PROS: Good value, nice location
CONS:

I have been going to the Griffith Park Golf Shop quite a number of times to practice in the golf range. I have not been playing golf for very long time and this is such a great place to practice and improve my skills. Their prices are pretty decent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I have been to many parks in the Los Angeles area but this is my favorite. It is really huge and beautiful. My nieces and nephews always choose this park because of the playgrounds. This is a perfect place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon relaxing. Picnics would be perfect here!!

This is a great place for getting away with all your family for picnic. If you like hiking, biking, horce riding. You can do it all there. It's so much space for your kids, there's also a nice playground for them. It's a really huge park so watch out not to get lost:)

There are two golf courses at this location as well as a few putting greens, chipping areas and a very spacious driving range. This is a great place for a beginner or an expert. The driving range and greens fees are pretty reasonable and the location makes this a great weekend afternoon getaway.

A decent place to play golf. The driving range is reasonably priced and the two levels ensure that there is always an open spot. I happened to break my driver on this day and the head of the club flew on to the range. The guy in the pro-shop quickly hopped into his cart and retrieved it for me. Something like that will make me go back.

You will probably get lost here since this park is huge. IYou can come here to picnic, play sports, rest or walk up the hill where the observatory is located for a breathtaking view of LA at sunset. There are 4 main entrances to Griffith park. They also have a web page at www.griffithobs.org

Both the Wilson and Harding courses are great layouts. Built in the mid 20s the two couses have imporves through time. Probably two of the best "city" courses in the country

Pretty good courses. Wilson is longer than Harding but both are pretty good courses that offer a very good chalenge. While, Wilson is longer, Harding is more of a shot makers course. Both are good. Course conditios are fair, but what can be expected from one of the busiest courses in Los Angeles.

This course send out players right after another. The condition of the fairways and the greens are poor. There are always people waiting by the Tee box and a lot of yelling going on. Poor restaurant staff seems to be rubbed off by the course staff. Almost everybody working at the course are rude and has no respect to their guest. The Wilson Course has an excellent lay-out but the course doesn't attract me anymore because there are simply too many people, poor course condition and the lack of professionalism of the working staff

The Driving Range at the Wilson/Harding Golf Courses in Griffith Park is a great place to practice no matter if you're just a beginner or if you're tweaking your swing for the upcoming tour. The prices are reasonable, the range has plenty of space and if your time it right, you can eavesdrop on lessons happening that may help your practice session. All talents swing the sticks here, so don't worry if you're slicing or hitting grounders with every stroke. Three tees down, you'll see someone else doing the same thing. They have a great little chippng area and three nice practice greens for putting. Plenty of Parking.

It's definatly peaceful. The trails are easy and beginner friendly. Great views and makes you feel a hundred miles away from the big city. It's a great break from the L.A. pace...
