I visited San Francisco a few times in the past and didn?t come across this beautiful spot unit the last time. After revisiting the usual places I leafed through one of the tourist booklet and found this spot. We arrived at the parking lot at the top of the hill in the twilight hours, so we couldn?t go up the tower but the views from below were still spectacular. The photos I took there have light and shadow, colors peaking behind a evening fog with the beautiful San Francisco background that reminds me of classical paintings.

Don't miss the beautiful murals painted inside the ground floor which encircle the tower, and can be viewed for free. They were painted during the 1930's and carry strong socialist themes, which were very controversial at that time.

This place is the place to be to bring your visitors from another state or country. You get to see San Francisco. The atmosphere is pretty cool and kinda quiet to me. By the way, prepare to climb the stairs.

Great Views of the city from the top, also Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. I was disappointed I didn't have time to go up on my most recent trip to San Francisco. When I did go eight years ago, The Bridge was emerging from the fog, for a really cool photo. If visiting as a tourist, you should definitely check it out!

I walked up Telegraph Hill to see this. I have admired it from down below for years, and the trip is absolutly worth it. 360 degree view of the city and the bay. Friendly staff to take you up. Beautiful grounds surrounding the tower. Please don't miss it.

As a SF native, Coit tower wasn't all that memorable for me. The traditional Mexican murals were beautiful as was the view from the top, but other than that there wasn't much going on. It's a pretty mellow visiting place, and the lines are practically inexistant. There are a lot of stairs, so be prepared for the climb

I love San Francisco. One of the reasons why I love it so reminds me whenever I go up at the coit tower. The view from the tower is breath taking. You can walk up the hundreds of stairs and get a great exercise too.

This is a great place to bring tourist to see spectatular views of the city. It also has a tower that is dedicated to firefighters. There is usually a long line to get to the top- you might want to park and go up the stairs.

My husband and I recently visited the Bay area from Arizona. We had forgotten that such large bodies of water existed! We saw the Bay, Alcatraz, downtown, and more from atop Coit Tower. The elevator staff was entertaining on the ride up. I had heard that parking could be difficult, so we decided to walk up Telegraph Hill from the twisted part of Lombard Street. I tell you what, we hike all the time out here, but Telegraph Hill had us sweating puddles by the time we got to the Tower! Wouldn't you know, we walked all that way and the parking lot was only half full?! Ah, well. We got a close-up look at the lovely architecture in San Fran, anyway. We could have taken public transportation, which was free on the day we visited due to a Save the Air day, but we were in the mood for some exercise after our 12 hour drive, and boy did we get it! Make sure you take your own water and snacks since, like most touristy places, that stuff is a ripoff at the Tower. The gift shop area was very tight, too, and a little difficult to maneuver around. If you enjoy views, Coit Tower is a must.

At first the tower doesn't seem that great but once you really start looking at the murals on the walls and understand their meanings, it is quite the place. You also get a great view of the city from up there. If you do have the chance, park below and walk up the hundreds of stairs that will get you from sea level up the tower - great exercise.

I'd never heard of this place when my friend (from Fresno) suggested we go, while spending the day in San Francisco. I'd already done the golden gate bridge, fishermans warf, pier 39, cable car and chinatown but this took me by suprise. A lot of history to this place and not only in viewing it yourself along the bottom do you learn but the man working the elevator the day I went was full of information, facts and trivia.

Pros: AWESOME view, FRIENDLY staff, VERY affordable

Cons: had none we lucked, out with parking

The view from the top of Coit Tower is spectacular. I'm not sure about charging to ride the elevator up to see the view but its worth it. They really should have it open later so that people can see the view at night with the wharf all lighted up. They have a gift shop downstairs to buy souvenirs.

Coit Tower is the historic tower in the middle of SF. I'll be honest and say that the tower itself isn't that pretty. It looks like a big white tube sticking up. What is pretty though is the views of the entire Bay Area that can be seen from the top of Coit Tower. You can see beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, financial district, and berkeley. It's truely amazing what you can see from the tower. I would recommend going in the mid afternoon when all the fog is gone, or else, you might not be able to see much. The price for going to the top isn't to bad either, so I recommend that anyone in the area stop by Coit Tower.

Coit Tower is one of the best places to view the city at its best. Telegraph hill is where Coit Tower is located. You will be able to see many sites in the area like the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge, the TransAmerica Pyramid, Alcatraz, and the beehive of houses you see in all the postcards from San Fransisco. This is a fairly long walk so you can choose to ride a bus or walk up the hills and steps. You will learn the history behind this tower once you reach the top so listen carefully.

If you want to look out from the tower's top, you'd best go during daylight, as Coit Tower generally closes at 5pm. Coit Tower is one of San Francisco's best attraction spot because of its mixture of history and scenic prominence. But you'll need to find something to do afterwards...it doesn't take that long to stand there and take it all in.

San Francisco has been my favorite city in the world. When I first went to visit the city I went to all the popular sites like the Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39. However I skipped over the hype of Coit Tower. So when I came this summer again I decided to go and see it. It was amazing, even though the walk was long. Still the tower was very beautiful and the view amazing, especially at night. Overall it was a good experience. I do however suggest that you should take the bus up to the tower and even though the fee is of 2.50 adults and 1.50 children, it isnt that much.

When I went to San Francisco for my vacation, I wanted to see everything: Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Cars, Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. When my friend told me to go to Coit Tower, I was like what!!! Then suddenly I came to my answer and said okay. I'm glad I did. Coit Tower is one of th most beautiful buildings in SF. You could see everything from the tower!!! A gorgeous sight to see the city by the bay!!!

Coit Tower is such a beautiful place to see San Francisco from. I mean right there in front of you is the Bay Bridge, Golden Gat, Pier 39, fishermans Wharf and much more. I found Coit Tower to be such a wonderufl place to visit and had such great sites to view. However the facilities weren't that great and parking is very hard to get. I suggest taking a bus, taxi, or if you have enough power, walking.

Coit Tower offers an incredible view of San Francisco and it's beautiful city! You'd have to pay $5.00 (i believe) to go up the tower, and depending on whether the guy who takes you up tells you a story or not, could give you a little bit more entertainment! Even if you don't go up the tower, it's still a MUST to stop for if your visiting! The great view from the parking lot is something you can't miss out on! Parking is VERy hard, i found myself waiting a couple of hours a few times I went.

This is a must-stop for out-of-towners. Not only do you get a great view, but it's free. We combine this with a trip down Lombard Street and you can knock down two tourist favorites in a matter of minutes. On weekends, though, it's tough to find a spot to park.
