So far, my favorite museum to date...(and I have been to MANY in various states!) A virtual maze of stuff to see from historical artifacts to visual art pieces. Pay-what-you-want entrance...epecially nice for those travelling on a budget. Cool stuff in the stores, LOVE the sculpture garden and inside sculpture rooms. For me, must sees are the sculptures, Impressionist art (lots of Van Goughs, Monets, and Seurats), musical instruments, the Armory, and the Egyptian Temple area. On a beautiful day, the patio is also a must! The only negative is it being kind of far from the train...the green/6 stop is a bit of a hike, especially in the rain/cold or toting kids. I wish we had an apartment on 77th, right on the park, so we could enjoy it EVERY day! A MUST SEE if you plan to visit NYC!

The metropolitan is a great place to see all types of artwork from many different cultures. The building is very large and there is too much to explore. This place is widely enforced with security which guarantees safety. Most workers are nice and polite while a few were rude to some visitors.

Nonetheless, its a an enchanting place to visit various types artwork combined under one roof (:

From the moment you enter, you are surrounded by our history. There is so much to see here, it's virtually impossible to see it and appreciate it all in a single day, so go often, heck revisit your favourite sections time and again. The atmosphere is very peaceful and it's a great way to spend a day in New York City. In fact I'd say this is a must see.

This is the best museum in all of the US. They have a huge collection of Egyptian artifact because of an arrangement with the Cairo Museum of Egypt. The museum has a suggested admission price so you do not have to pay the whole thing, you can get in for as little as a quarter. On weekends it is open late. They also have an impressive display of Asian artifacts. It is a beautiful museum and I highly recommend going.

World class, one of the best museum in the world. Very large collection, so plan and only see a small selection each time. Dont try to cover everything at one time. If you live in NYC, consider getting a membership. Also they have nice jazz and afternoon tea / drinks on Fri & Sat. Price is not cheap, but its a nice break if youre in the hood.

PROS: Art everywhere
CONS: Not cheap

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an excellent art museum with a huge art selection that would take many days to go through if you had the time. The collection is wonderful with works of art that range from modern to classic. Do not forget that the museum houses wonderful cultural exhibits such as the amazing egyptian wing. All this and you cannot forget about the special exhibits that can range from decent to amazing.

If you've ever read "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Franwieler"---then you've already had some of the magical exposure to this wonderful museum. (the book is about some kids who run away and stay in the museum overnights) Be sure to see the egyptian exhibit with the rebuilt tomb life size. The knights are also great---with all the armor. It is truly incredible---do not miss this if you are in the city at any time.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is definitely a must-see. It is a fantastic and huge museum that I still probably haven't seen in its entirety. From photography to sculpture to paintings, this place has it all. I particularly love the French Impressionists and the Egypt exhibits. The Egyptian exhibit begins with a wall leading into a tomb. You can follow the path into the huge Temple of Dendor which was an actual temple. It's an incredible place to be. Also the gift shop is a lot of fun - it's two floors and it has lots of things for everyone - posters, cards, toys, and games.

The Metropolitan Museum Of Art has the best collection of art in the United States. Room after room of great paintings, sculptures and other works of art. Check out the armor from the middle ages or the paintings of Tieppolo. It's just endless. A little known fact is when the Museum was built on city parkland the Museum agreed to make admission free. There is a large sign trumpeting the "Suggested Admission Price" and they will try to charge you $15. Just refuse and offer a quarter or fifty cents and cite the real rules and they will grant you admission. This is a real money saver if you are on a fixed budget.

You can't beat this museum; it's huge, it's free, what else could you want? The admission is anything you want, you don't have to pay at all if you don't want and don't mind being a douche. The museum itself is huge and has many different sections; you could spend days in there. There are a few cafes inside incase you get hungry, which you will. They also have benches everywhere to rest your feet.

PROS: Free, large
CONS: None

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an enormous and amazing museum. They have an exhibit on everything imaginable, with endless halls of paintings, sculptures, and much, much more. They are famous for the Egyptian Temple of Dendor, which is very interesting. They also have a popular coat of arms exhibit. as well as a priceless baseball card collection. It is impossible to even begin to describe the breadth of artwork at this museum. From ultra modern to ancient art, the Met has everything.

If the Museum of modern Art is Cheers, then the Metropolitan Museum of Art is Frasier. Commonly known as The Met, this is an austere art museum that takes a classical approach to art appreciation. So, no bustling crowds and interactive exhibits and free for all flash photography and kinetic design store like at the Moma. Just classic, classy art. It is elegant and beautiful, filled with a sampling of the best art accumulated over the course of civilization. Even if you're not an appreciator of painting, you need to see the Met at least once in your life.

The MET is a beautiful and GORGEOUS museum. Walking in, you meet a grand staircase taking you upstairs to magnificiant artwork. The last time I've been there was for the China exhibit, which was absolutely great. High recommend

This Museum is a favorite of all New Yorkers. Located at the corner of 82nd street. Hours Tues-Thurs and Sun 9:30-5:30pm, Fri and Sat9:30-9pm. Suggested contribution is $12.
I have gone with my daughter and have paid what I can afford. $7 students and Seniors suggested contribution. You cant miss "The Roof Garden". A must see for a fantastic and breathtaking view of Central Park and Fifth Avenue and the art located on the roof.
