Washington, D.C. has many art art galleries downtown, but they are all crowded on weekends. American Studio is in Georgetown, but still close enough to dowtown to escape all of the crowds. This is a private studio which means you can actually buy things. There are many nice paintings at the Nationa Gallery of Art, but I have never seen one for sale.
This is the perfect place for art lovers to go on weekends.
You can actually meet a new artist once in a while.
PROS: Not as crowded as the other galleries
CONS: Georgetown is a little out of the way

This funky art gallery / home dcor showcase has loads of fun stuff. There are plenty of unique objects ranging from flatware to picture frames. The sales staff is more than happy to help and there are one or two personable cats which roam the store freely. While the products are fun to look at they will put a dent in your wallet so be careful. Be sure to check out the sale room in the back!
