A real gem in my opinion has local items, creativity, eco-sense, and great staff. Dig has all of these, and we are pleased that we happened upon it on our vacation. Thomas' friendliness and knowledge rounded out our experience. Like on his website, Edgy, Modern, and Unique best describe this Portland Gem.

A garden shop unlike any you've seen before, its reason for being is to highlight the work of local artists, who transform industrial recycled materials into inventively modern garden pieces. Scores of planting pots and a wide range of patio furniture (chairs, umbrellas, etc) round out the environmentally friendly selection.

What a cool store -- went in for the first time and was awed by the fun array of sculptures, giant pots, bird feeders made of recylced materials, rain chimes, fountains, wrought-iron garden doo-dads and lucious-smeling hand-made soap sticks. A place to hang out, get ideas for the garden, get inspired.
