Guitar & Keyboard City has been closed for many years due to owner retiring. I had bought many instruments there in past years and had an excellent experience at that time buying from Tim Praskins. Recently found Tim again and bought a new digital piano from him for less money than anywhere else in the US. Excellent advice, service, and help just as in the past. His honesty and integrity are refreshing. Will continue to recommend my family and friends to Tim and his business, AZ Piano Wholesale.

Please note: this is the rating that pertains to this location only. However, it is bad enough and it reflects on the company as a whole.

I was there to look at what they call "excellent pianos." Well, as if it wasn't bad enough that the description of those instruments was more than somewhat inflated, the staff was absolutely incredibly rude. Before going there I inquired when would they close. The answer was - 4 pm. So, I came in 1/2 hour before that time and was trying the pianos and waiting for my spouse to join me. Well, at 3:40 a young man, unkempt and not very professional looking, came and said, "we're closing in 5 minutes." I told him it was not going to be closing time for almost 20 minutes, but he kept repeating it like a broken record, we're closing in 5 minutes," and insisted that I leave the store. Now, we're talking a purchase of about $7000 here, not an electrical cord of $10. Regardless, the attitude was - we want to see the Super Bowl, and we ARE closing in 5 minutes!

When I got up to leave the store (15 minutes before the announced, and already changed) closing time, I told them they were not very professional and that it appeared they didn't care about a possibility of a huge sale and a customer who was entertaining the idea of spending that many $$$ in their store. What they did was incredible: they laughed at me. Laughed!!!!

What did I do - I phoned my spouse, met him in another store that was just blocks away, and we dropped $3000 more on another piano! Yeah, we spent more money, but we got a far better instrument, and service that was second to none!!!

Good bye, Guitar and Keyboard City - never again!

I have been doing business with music stores in the valley for over 15 years and have never seen a chain go downhill like Guitar and Keyboard City.

I dealt consistently with Gary Gordon (the manager) for a dozen years and was not only satisfied, but quite impressed with his high level of customer service. He left the company in February of 2006 and the Glendale store is now one of the worst stores I have ever had the misfortune to step into. Note that all of the great reviews for this store were while Gary was manager.

Three times I ordered products from salespeople and waited weeks and weeks while I was told "it's on its way", only to find out the products were never even ordered. Then the General Manager, Tim Praskins, lied to my face several times about the reasons for the "delays". I know they were lies because I received emails from the manufacturers contradicting Mr. Praskins claims of "back orders".

One thing I can't stand is when someone lies to me.And why a salesperson (or General Manager) of a store lies to my face when they could have made not only a profit, but made a happy customer - well, I just don't get it.

One good thing though - I found out Gary Gordon is working at the Sam Ash Music Store. So, I know one honest salesperson who I KNOW will do whatever it takes to MAKE SURE I get what I need. Also, the store is at 43rd avenue and Cactus which is less than a mile from my home.

Thanks for reading my review,

J. Carter

PROS: None.

This is a great place to buy musical instruments. They have a wide variety and selection to choose from. Their staff is highly trained to know about all the equipment. They sell and rent equipment and sometimes have some very hard to find specialty items for sale as well! It's a great place and worth a stop to check out. Their prices are fair as well.

As a professional Guitar player, I like to be able to find the equipment I'm looking for & not have to drive all over town to find it.Be it a set of strings to a New Ax, Guitar & Keyboard City is close by , Well stocked and reasonably priced. Now if they could only get a bit more space.

This is a great place to go to. They have a very wide selection of guitars and the employees are glad to help out the customers. Also, they let you play the instruments before you buy them. They frequently have very good sales, also.
