OK we went there this last Saturday night. The establishment itself was very nice, with decent ambiance. The wait staff were quite good, yet I was dissapointed.\r
\r
My wife and I thought that for $200 the dinner was actually quite average. The side dishes were competent but really nothing special. And the steaks were decent (I had the porterhouse and she had the New York Strip) but it was pretty average fair all in all. I expected a bit more flavor and presentation for these prices.\r
\r
After eating at the Metropolitan Grille in Seattle recently, I have to say that the steaks are inferior in taste at the Capital grille compared to the Metropolitan grille. I may not be back actually, I won't be back unless someone is paying for me.

Pros: nice atmosphere, great service

Cons: average side dishes and average tasting steak

My all time favorite steakhouse in the country is Smith & Wollensky's, but this is right there, just slightly less impressive. Capital Grill is outstanding in my opinion in quality of beef, service, and ambiance. Well worth the money and you will return my friends. I would only recommend Ruth's Chris close to this here in Phoenix. Flemings is tops on service, but the steaks did not even compare. Go here and have at it--their Kona coffee rub is outrageous, as are the side dishes!

Pros: What can I say? the best steak in town, and 2nd best in the U.S.

Cons: Hmmm, the fact that you can't eat there everyday without going bankrupt?

.

This place has amazing steaks and seafood. The atmosphere is very nice and perfect for a romantic dinner. The prices are a bit expensive but its because of how fine the steaks are.

I'm confounded by the reviews I read where they claim the Capital Grille is overpriced or boring. I've dined at the CG in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix and Scottsdale and it is by far the best corporate owned steakhouse in the country, easily out distancing the over hyped Ruths Chris and their gimmicky hot plate or the once great but outdated Mortons. I go to the CG for the over 800 bottle wine list and the dry aged steaks. The service is customiarily outstanding and the staff's wine and food knowledge is exceedingly above board. The decor is just what I expect from a old school traditional steakhouse. Dark wood, cigar humidor, oil paintings and a wine list that expands from $30 Kendall Jackson Chardonay to $3000 Screaming Eagle Cabernet. The prices are inline with the Smith and Wolenskis and Delmonico's of the world and I would highly recommend the Capital Grille to anyone wishing a special dining experience. Make sure to try the Kona Crusted sirloin and the Coconut Creme Pie.

I can't understand why this over-priced place is popular. It has a snobby feel to it (truly fine dining does not have that feel to it - all feel welcome and comfortable). I have eaten here 3x's (never my choice) and the food has always been ""OK"". I think I could make something tastier at home myself. The prices are totally unjustified and the atmosphere is so old and stuffy. NOT FUN, this is a place for those w/o imagination.

I expected this restaurant to match the ones I've visited in other cities. It was an awful experience and we will never return. Our waiter was rude and cocky, the male management was surly and the food was just okay. This is a poor example of a supposed upscale restaurant.

I am a Concierge at a resort nearby the Capital Grille and we always send guests there and have yet to hear a complaint. Their service is top-notch, their food is always excellent, and their private dining is always a good idea. I was surprised to see some negative comments on this website, because we have about 100 people dine there a month that all come back with raving reviews. \r

We had a group of 20 people, and not one single person was happy. Not only was the service inexcusably bad, the manager didn't even acknowledge our complaints. He promised to call us to follow up, and it has been 2 weeks and we haven't heard a thing. The appetizers were boring, the steak was mediocre at best, and the sides were no better than a microwaved Marie Callenders meal, and that was if you could even get your hands on them since the waiter was dishing them out as he saw fit. I would not recommend Capital Grille to anyone, unless of course you are breaking up with someone, and you want to take them out for a terrible evening. I have had a far better meal at Dennys. Please, please, please, avoid Capital Grille at all costs.

Who knew it would be so crowded two weeks before Christmas, at lunch? But, the food was great, steaks to order, and service pretty darn good for having a full house. I've not ever had an unpleasant dining experience at The Capital Grille. It's a favorite!

The food was great (especially the lobster bisque) but they can definitely use improve on customer service. Went there with a couple of international guests for a dinner, thinking we would impress them with the great food, wine and service. Well, at least we got 2 out of the 3 since the waiter forgot my steak! My meal finally came out after everyone almost were done with theirs!! You would think the manager would come by and apologize for the mistake or comp a desert on the house.....NOPE! Would I go back? Probably not because I can get far better service at Morton's or Ruth Chris. \r

A recent visit on a Saturday evening to the Capital Grille in Phoenix turned out to be enjoyable, satisfying, delectable and pleasant for our party of three. The atmosphere is upscale elegant, the staff uniforms are white linen and black slacks making for an impressive outing for entertaining a friend or client. Our server, Jennifer Smith, took unbelievably wonderful care of us, from explaining the menu to suggestions on the wine list. She was attentive but not bothersome, allowing us to enjoy our meal and conversation while never having to look for her to refill a glass. The food was well prepared, unique and generously portioned. I enjoyed the dry aged porterhouse, my wife had the chef special delmonico and our guest enjoyed the filet mignon. We enjoyed sides of the chefs special mashed potatoes and broccolini. We started with the Wedge salad (outstanding!) and a mixed green salad with house dressing. Our appetizer was an interesting capicola wrapped cheese, and for desert we shared the strawberries and vanilla bean custard and their version or a triple chocolate fudge cake - a wedge big enough to feed a small village. Jennifer shared wine recommendations with me, and upon request brought out a special list by the glass, where I found a terrific merlot that retails for $150 a bottle, sold by the glass for $19 - an incredible value and just the ticket with the dry aged red beef. We sat and indulged in this feast and conversation for over 2 hours on a busy saturday night without a comment or evil eye from any of the staff. I WILL return, and will be certain to request our outstanding waitress Jennifer. Highly Recommended, this experience wont be inexpensive but will be worth every penny. Be certain to make reservatons well in advance, it books up early. Located in a mall but once you step inside that harldy matters.

Pros: Service, dry aged beef

Cons: in a strip mall, no imported draft beer

Their service was excellent - absolutely no question that it is the best service I have ever had. the food on the otherhad was same as ever other steakhouse everywhere. Meat good, sides typical and abundant...nothing stood out. Very Very pricey. Unless you dine more for service than food, for the money I would recommend Morton's or Ruth's.

When we arrived at the Scottsdale Capital Grille the valet greeted us by name and wished us a Happy Anniversay. The Host held the door open for me and my husband and wished us a Happy Anniversary again. When we arrived at our table it was adorned with rose pedals and our server brought us champagne to toast our special day. We began our dining experience with caviar and took the expert advice of our server and continued with an excellent Reisling. We accepted the recommendation of Surf and Turf and dined on a magnificent Porterhouse, expertly prepared, and a 3 pound fresh lobster, broiled to perfection, and sipped on a superb Pinot Noir which came with great accolades from our magnificent server. The Capital Grille sent us dessert and ended the evening with a photo commemorating our special day. The Capital Grille made our anniversary as special as our wedding day. Thank you, Capital Grille!

The Scottsdale Capital Grille could not have been more accomodating for my corporate dinner party. They arranged for all of the floral centerpieces on short notice, prepared a special menu with my corporate logo and when time came to serve the entrees it seamed that there was a waiter for every person. I have never been so overwhelmed with great service. Everyone of my guests felt special. I'll be sure to return even on a personal occasion.

I have been to many steak houses and I find Capital Grille average at best. The decor and ambience is great, but when it comes down to the steak, which is supposed to be the best attraction in a steak restaurant, they fall short. Whether it be the seasoning or quality of the meat, or both, the steak doesn't taste that great.

My husband and I have been to the Capitol Grille several times and each has been an absolutely fantastic experience. We travel all over the world and have had the great fortune to experience food/service/ambience at some of the most posh and trendy spots anywhere -- and the Capitol Grille can stand head to head with some of the most exquisite places out there. We look forward to going back soon!

Beautiful restaurant with nice ambience. Your mouth will water parusing their great menu and wine selection. They really know how to cook the Dry Aged steaks to perfection here. The salads, French onion soup and desserts are excellent too. Good location in a high-end shopping district with valet parking. Highly recommend this restaurant!! Wish they had more west-coast locations than just Arizona; their others are all in the mid-west and east-coast!!
