Dude below sounds like a drama queen. It's a nice place. I've been to Pierce Street a few times now and have found the people working there and the patrons to be nice people. The food's solid. I usually come for lunch, so I haven't seen the nightlife but I hear it's bumpin'.

This place will literally kill you. I??m not trying to be dramatic, but it almost happened to us. You might die by going here. If you want to live, go somewhere else, anywhere else. Run like hell!
Six of us went there to sit outside on the patio on a sunny Saturday afternoon (May 28, 2011), to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine. Two of us ended up getting thrown out! Like virtually everyone else in the bar, we were in no position to drive yet the manager threw us out. What can one do, but drive home? Drinking and driving will kill you, but Pierce Street Annex doesn??t seem to care. They??ll throw you to the wolves. The management is dangerous, irresponsible and legally liable.
So why did we get thrown out? I don??t know and neither does anyone in our group. We were not told. I have no idea and can??t even venture a guess. We did not have a fight with anyone; not customers, not staff. We did not spill any food or drink, we did not damage any property, we did not steal anything, we did not vomit, nothing. To this day we have no idea. None of us can come up with a reason.
We are mature, middle aged professional adults and none of us have ever been thrown out of anyplace. We wanted to sit a while longer, enjoy each other and burn off some alcohol but we were not allowed.
Four of us went out the front door to get something from the car. The other two stayed at the table. We were not leaving, all our personal stuff was still at the table, as were two of our friends, and the bartender still had our American Express card. While outside, we took pictures of ourselves when the manager came out and rudely, obnoxiously, offensively and abusively told us to leave the property without giving a reason and without us having an opportunity to go back to our table to get our stuff. (I went anyway disregarding the rantings of the manager.)
So if you want to enjoy an afternoon or evening out, don??t go here. Go somewhere else, anywhere except Pierce Street Annex! If you do, you are likely to be exposed to extreme danger when getting thrown out for no apparent reason, only to have to drive home in an unsafe condition.
DO NOT GO TO PIERCE STREET ANNEX! Good luck to any and all who do not head my advice.

I don't usually go out much but my girlfriend dragged me out. I had so much fun at Pierce Street. I am so glad I went. We had so much fun dancing. (they have a big dance floor) and we had an amazing waitress. Her name was Marissa. I suggest you sit in her station. She was so sweet and fun. Very personable. Drinks were very reasonably priced and we met a lot of people there. Very easy to socialize with crowd. When I go out, this will def be on the top of the list!

I think it's an ideal place to hang out with buddies after work and go dancing. Everyone there is super-nice, and there is a small dance floor when you've had just the right amount of alcohol in you. The music is mostly hip-hop. Bartenders are very friendly and helpful. The service is great and pricing reasonable.

I'm not really a club guy as I find them to be dull and overpriced. But at my last visit to Vegas, I visited here with my friend on his cousin's birthday. To my surprise it was the best place I have ever visited. The girls there were all smoking hot and there were plenty of them whether they were the waitresses, bartenders or others girls dancing there. The service was great and the music was good and that too; available at a very reasonable price. I will recommend them for true.

Sleazy, dirty and poorly managed. A raggedy crowd. Security is weak and the dress code is asinine.

I stayed in the OC for 4 months the summer of 2007 for work. PSA was a regular place for my friends/co-workers and myself. I loved the place. Being from the southeast it was rare to find friendly people on the west coast, but at PSA everyone was very nice and pleasant. The DJ was great and the bartenders were the best. I think we pretty much lived at the bar after work got out, good place to have a few drink and socialize with friends. Also loved the outside grill and being able to cook our own food, the patio was very nice and the big heaters kept us warm on those cool summer nights. I will always remember my summer in Southern California and I'm glad we found a great place to hang out. If i eve make it back to CA i will definitely make a trip to PSA!

It actually made me sad to read some of the reviews on here.

This bar has been my home bar since the day I turned 21. In that time I have made countless friends and still hang out with them right here, every Tuesday and Sunday. OH. AND Monday. They just started a karaoke night, which is a BLAST.

It really is family here. From DJ Daniel to Doug and Gordon. I truly love this place. It's my home away from home. Never a bad night here. Been coming here at least twice a week for over 2 years and I have not witnessed one fight or any misconduct. This bar is nothing but good times and even better people. Take my word for it. I'm a PSA veteran now. :-p

PS - Hi, Daniel. I know you're reading this.

Love all you guys! <3

About 30 years ago i went to work for Doug at the Pierce Street as their DJ. I think i was the first one.
Although i havent been there in 30 years it remains today in my mind as the most fun i have ever had in a nite spot. I am currently working on the west coast and have every intention of visiting it on my way home. I hope it hasnt changed.

Hello Everyone, its Dj Daniel here at Pierce Street every Sunday and Monday. I read a review describing my performance as tolerable? Due to not playing regulars requests. I play a mix as requested by the management. Hip Hop, Modern Rock, Old School, Classic Rock, Dance, Etc... If you request a song and are polite, NOT RUDE. Your song will likely get played. I even go as far as downloading a song if it dont have it. I almost never say no unless the song is crude or inappropriate. I do a all request live up in LA and playing other genras are not a problem. don't believe this behan's review.
Pierce Street is great! I love going to work there, the locals are always fun, the bartenders make great drinks, you can even cook your own food on the patio's bbq grill, play some pool, foos ball, make some friends, Dance the night away, and have a good time everyday of the week!

Don't believe the hype seen in previous reviews referencing "...not worth risking your life over." or, "... no religious tolorance." PSA is a great place to hang out whether it be after work for Happy Hour, or a full on Night Club experience on Friday and Saturday nights. A recent change in policy allows hats just so long as they have no dubious references. There is no cover charge, there is no waiting in stupid lines, and there is no pretentious snobbyness. What you will find is a varied mix of people, great drinks, and an awesome patio with a BBQ grill.

They have great drink and food specials throughout the week making it even more appealing if you are on a budget.

DJ Johnny B is great... DJ Daniel is tolerable (he won't play requests for regulars... just aweful pop and techno music ad nauseum) In any case PSA is still great. I recommend it highly!

In reading these reviews, it seems many rate the experience on "1" specific occurance. As an objective person, here are the facts: I am 41(but never guess that) , family, professional, great shape, and luckily above average looks & dance skills. My wife and I visit this Location 2-3 times annually.--1st, arrive early (930ish) because it gets crowded at the blink of an eye. its nice to have a table to relax during the evening. NO COVER is a nice "un-O.C." way to begin the evening. The D.J. plays a wide range of music (Classic Rock, Hip Hop, R&B), but the dance floor is only average in size. The floor does get packed but NOT unbearable. The Service and Drinks are always above Average. There is a nice out-door area (large), and 2 pool tables inside the Bar, adjacent to the Dance Floor. There is a large mix of people that visit this establishment. As a result there might be a handful of people "YOU" would not associate with. If you are the OC-Judgemental Type, then you might be happier going to a "Snobby" place, because most people here are relatively friendly. As with any "club," you DO have the groups only looking to hook-up, however that's simply part of the entire experience. Everytime I've gone to this spot (Btn 25-41 yrs old), I have had a Great Time!!! Go there thinking you WILL meet Every HollyWood Diva, or thinking it will serve you a Seven Course Steak Meal, then you will be disappointed. If you Arrive anticipating an Exciting time for you and your friends, then You Will Certainly Have One!!! ~~ some reviews indictated only Hicks go to this place. Well, let me give you the Line-UP of friends I attended with 2 weeks ago. Me (Commercial Pilot), Wife (Doctor), Wife's co-worker, (Fe-Emerg Room Doctor), Sis-in law (Head Rep Fed-ex), Friend (local Police officer). Before you judge people, you might "ask," because you NEVER know! I did have one bad experience with "regulars" over the pool table, but that was "the individuals" & NOT the Business.....Go & Enjoy!!!

Cons: None really (maybe overcrowded at midnight)

This place was once a classy joint but not anymore. First of all they are too lax with their dress code in that now foolish mob members are walking in this place with their foolish white tee attire. I wet to this place after watching a couple of games at a sports bar, going here was a mistake. The place was full with a samoan organized mob who later cowardly tried to jump two gentlemen outside for no reason whatsoever.. They are the same people who were bullying people in the club pushing them and looking for a fight all thie time. The security at this place is too lenient with who they let in. In a nutshelll if you are going to risk your life going here, avoid standing next to any of those mob foolish members in sagging jeans and white tees. Especially teh samoans they are there to look for trouble half the time. This place has to have better security and control who is getting into their club to at least get their class back.

Not that young of a crowd. However the bigger issue is that the dress code is apparently unmovable for religious tolerance. A medical student from UCI was not let in recently because he was wearing a turban. Google "pierce street annex no hats sikh" for the full story.

Someone wearing head covering for the purpose of religion should not be barred because of a so-called dress code. What sort of ridiculous place is this?

This is such a great place! I've been there a few times now on Saturdays and Sundays. It's Really fun to go dance and on Sundays, the band is GREAT!!! Drinks are pretty cheap unless you order something with redbull. The bartenders are pretty cool and my favorate waitress Marisa is really cool and friendly. We always have fun with her and good conversation. Very upbeat. I absolutely recommend the place! See you there one of these nights soon. Oh yeah! One of the best parts is you can grill your own food out on the large patio. If you want to make something they don't offer, you can bring it in. I LOVE this bar!!

I LOVE going to Pierce Street for it's outdoor BBQ. It's open every night except Fri & Sat until midnight!! I work late a lot and I know I can jet into Ralphs next door, buy some meat and go grill it late at night! They sell burgers, chix breast and brats...but you're allowed to bring in anything they DON"T sell and grill it! That means, I take in steaks, ribs, shrimp and grill up a storm! We all meet at 7 and their happy hour is EVERYDAY UNTIL 9:00 PM!!! ALL DAY!!! I don't know of anyplace that has happy hour all day long and until that late!! Their well drinks are $3.50 and jack/cokes are $4.00...can't beat it!!
Also, I love their Tuesday nights. Happy hour till 9, then 3 drinks for $9 and their burgers (normally $4) are $1.50 until midnight!! Stephanie and Kimberly are awesome and way cool and the crowd is FUN!

We were just there Sunday 7/8/07 with a very large group of Harley riders. The staff was tremendous, friendly and attentive. Very capable of handling a group of 100 people who all walked in at the same time. The band was fabulous, the food great and we will definitely be back. A great place to go on a Sunday afternoon to listen to music, catch a little sun and have dinner...all at the same place. It's casual and fun. Thanks for having all of us Harley riders!

I recently moved to OC and a girlfriend and I wanted to try out bars in the area. After reading a good review on (ta da) citysearch, we decided to check it out. It was an interesting Thursday night to say the least. This bar attracts an older, mixed crowd, which ranged from mid 20s to 70s. I was there with a girlfriend and a drunk 70 year-old lady tried to convince us to dance with her equally old friend. It was cute acutally, but we sadly declined. Friendly bartenders. Good parking. Good music. Spins mostly hip-hop and top 40 music in a decent sized dance floor. Pool tables. Cond0ms sold for $1 in the restroom---there's an actual dispenser. Interesting, no? 3 for $9 specials on Thursday nights. Very fun and recommendable. It's definitely not a trendy, attractive, single's scene but it's an ideal place to hang out with buddies after work and to dance.

It's definitely not a trendy, attractive, single's scene but it's an ideal place to hang out with buddies after work and to dance.

Pros: 3 for $9 Thursdays, parking, no cover, music

Cons: less than trendy crowd

.

i had a fun time there, but i'd say it's not a glamorous hot spot. go with your group of friends and just hang out. shoot pool, dance, and drink it up!

My Co-worker recommended this place to me so my friends and I decided to check it out. I wanted to beat my co-worker when I got back to work on Monday. My friends and I were the hottest people in there. It seemed like a place where all the rejected people went when they got turned down at the hot OC spots. The dance floor was so tiny filled of people who can't dance. There was a lot of hick looking people, old folks that think they are still young and perverted men. If you do go make sure your all liquored up. My friends and I could only stay for one drink then we left.

Been to alot of places and I like this the best due to the chill atmosphere. If you're a chick, you can relax and have fun, and not worry about every drooling dog hu%p*ng your leg because they have a great security staff. And if your with the guy's you can hang out. listen to the tunes, play pool, watch sports and respectfully check out the scenary. I'm sure you can find some rude bar staff at times, most likely you'd want to evaluate your own attitude first before saying they have the rudest staff, cuz it's not true at all. Not the newest bling bling spot in the OC, but certainly long standing, and that's not a mistake. I'd highly recommend the place... It really all depends on what your mood is, but it's always good for a little people watching and music playing. P.S. It IS like CHEERS

Pros: Tons of parking, and you can leave your car overnight without worrying about getting towed

Granted, it was a Wednesday night so I wasn't expecting much. Drove up, there was no cover and the place wasn't crowded at all. I was in town solo and thought it would be a cool place to meet some folks. The moment I get to the bar, I meet a nice couple who just got off the dance floor. Moments later I meet a couple of cool dudes who recommended other places in town. The beer was cheap. That night, everytime you bought an adult beverage, you were given a raffle ticket to win a Grand. Talent wasn't great, no real eye candy. Again, it was a Wednesday night, but it had potential. Alas, there was a banging waitress to ogle over that night. I'd recommend because of the potential for trouble.

Pros: Free, Friendly Atmosphere, Cheap Drinks

Cons: Music was lame

The gin and tonic I ordered was mixed poorly the first time, and poorly the second time when I had the bartender remake it. The crowd was not a twenty-something crowd. It was more like late-twenties to early-forties. The crowd also lacked good looking, young, in shape women. I am 23 and use to going to LA spots. I wouldn't spend the ten bucks to go again.

DJ hooked me up with the bday wishes all night. Good drinks. Great music, mostly R & B, but a little other stuff. Restroom lady was on top of things. A little ghetto with numers written on the stall doors. Friendly staff. VERY mixed crowd, kind of low key until later on. Definitely some "adult" dancing going on. Which is fine if you like that. I just went to dance, met some nice peeps, and had a great time! I guess there were burgers on the patio, but I didn't get one.

The first time that I went here I went with a woman... BIG MISTAKE. If you have $20 and want to meet someone... this is a guaranteed hook-up spot. The drinks are cheap, and there is never a lack of women. Sure go to a club on Saturday, but every other day of the week should be spent here... there should be a law about it!!!

Very cool bar to come to on a weekend. It is always crowded and the usual crowd is quite friendly and outgoing. They even have an outdoor patio with heatlamps if needed. The line is long sometimes but it usually moves quickly. Don't wait more than an hour because their are some other pubs nearby and they're just as good. A fun place to come with friends.

This is a very fun dance club in costa mesa off of 17th street. It can get pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday night and the line can get to two hours long and there is a cover charge of $20. Inside the bar is pretty large and the dance floor is always packed, they also have a decent sized patio outside for smokers! Come check this place out, your guarenteed a fun time.

Nice, laid-back, drinkin spot. Fun to get a little tipsy, and off your dance moves. Usually a wide variety of folks, old and young.

Pierce Street is a pretty decent sized bar with a patio and dance areas. It is always crowded so come here when your in the mood to be around lots of people and get your groove on. The dress code is fun and casual and everyone is friendly and looking to have a good time. Sometimes the line outside can get pretty long, I don't think it's worth waiting more than 30 minutes for though.

No $20 cover charge here, no cover charge at all. Why pay a $20 cover elsewhere when you can see the same losers here for free! I recommend getting to Piece Street before 10pm or else you will end up standing in line to get in. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Get there before 9pm and you can grill a good tasting hamburger on the patio. Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays are best!

This place manages to serve up good times all the time! Good crowd, cheap drinks, + thumpin music. We need more places like this in OC.

I frequent Pierce Street Annex ( mostly on weekends ) and I find the place to be great. If you go there enough, you'll eventually know everyone ( from the bartenders to the other regulars ). From Thursday through Saturday there's always a party as Johnny B knows exactly what you want to hear ( or is that the other way around? ) My suggestion is that you go around 8, partake in a few inexpensive beers, wait until 10 and then watch the party people ( and other lovable freaks ) break out.
