You have to love this place after midnight! The waitress yelling back at you in chinese when you ask for your order, tables of drunk people on each floor talking ever so loudly to each other... but why would you go here? It's just greasy chinese food that hits the spot after a night of drinking...if you can get yourself to eat here, make sure you get the rice noodle rolls wrapped with bbq pork!

We have been to Sam Wo's twice in the last 25 years. Once by accident and the other on purpose when we needed a fix from the surly, overworked waitress.

Pros: The shreiking waitress, cheap eats

Cons: Everyone gets broccoli chicken -- joking

I have two things to say: 1) Pork Noodle Roll 2) Won Ton Soup. No other chinese restaurant makes pork noodle roll. It is sweet bbq chinese pork with cilantro rolled up into a cold rice noodle and sliced. You dip it into hot mustard

Pros: Best Won Ton soup in the world, and NO ONE ELSE makes Pork Noodle Rolls!

Cons: If you are an Armani bling bling freak don't waste your precious time there.

This is the only place you will find it authentic... Why? They impressed me by continuing to use the very old and traditional northeastern Chinese restaurants' method of #1 Having the chef cooking right where you walk in, #2 Having waiters

We were walking around Chinatown at 10:00 p.m. trying to find an open restaurant and stumbled upon Sam Wo's. What a trip. They say they've been open for 100 years, well I believe it from the condition of the restaurant. But who cares

This place is a straight hole in the wall. You walk in through the kitchen and walk upstairs to be seated. The incredibly low prices is the first thing you'll notice when you open the menu. I would say that everything on the menu is good.

What can I say about Sam Wo's? Only that it's the best Chinese food I've had anywhere in the U.S. It's a complete hole-in-the-wall, but well worth the hike through busy Chinatown. You walk in through the kitchen and upstairs to sit on

Let's face it, when in Chinatown, you have an unlimited number of dining establishments to select from. So, why pick Sam Wo? It is one of the oldest restaurants in the area with the colorful history of a rude waiter, Eddie (deceased now)

Love this place. Hadn't been back since my college days in SF, but looked the place up on a lark.
It's still there. They took all the frat-house grafitti down and added steel I-beams as part of a seismic upgrade, but the food's still

Everything here is so inexpensive it's crazy. The food is good and the service is just fine -- the service isn't rude. They just mean business here, so skedaddle up the stairs, order your food and enjoy.
