The doctor was extremely thorough, knowledgable, and informative; however, I wish she would have been more direct and honest about my guinea pig's prognosis. It would have been difficult for me to accept that the best course was euthanasia, but I wish she would have helped me see that. It may not have been her intention, but I feel she took advantage of my desire to save him, by selling me nearly $600 dollars of diagnostics & treatments. I subjected the poor guy to the stress of poking and prodding by strangers, followed by multiple medications, treatments, forced feeding and fluid injections at home, and he died within 48 hours. Now I must live with the guilt of prolonging the suffering of someone who was obviously near his end. Euthanasia would have been much kinder to the animal and much more affordable.
