A comfortable chair, a good book, and a cup of coffee--my prerequisites for a great day. Thankfully, all of these are provided by Borders, and more. When there are too many people inside the store, I would buy my pick for the day, and head home, to curl up in my own bed, with my dog and blanket for added warmth.

Bigger store, yet lousy selection. Last time I visited, the odor from their bathroom was really horrible too. It even spread throughout half the store. Yuck!
2The service is not as good as it use to be. I went in to buy Christmas gifts and when I asked for help the first person told me the journal I wanted was probably in the back in one of the many boxes they still have to open and that I should ask someone else because she was off. So I did and that person told me that if it wasn't out they probably didn't have it and I felt they just weren't in the mood to help a customer.

Pros: convienant
Cons: service
Borders is a bookstore were I go to study and have some coffee. The customer service is always excellent and the coffee is always made as I like. It has a peaceful enviornment and many individuals sit and study in the cafe. Whenever I need a book for school or just for my personal collection, I always find the book because they have a great variety. I only had one bad experience in this particular bookstore. An employee was extremely rude, however, she was placed to shelve books. I would highly recommend this bookstore to anyone who wants to have a peaceful day for studying, reading, or just relaxing.
PROS: excellent customer service
CONS: cafe prices are somewhat pricey

They just newly remodeled the cafe area in this bookstore and i have to say that it is so much better. Th eplace is now more modern and clean. And they have a lot of staff members around to always answer your questions. I like their kiosk stations palced arounf the stores. They are very convient for locating books and music. And their music sections are great too. They have a lot of sample music that you can listen to before you buy. Great place to shop and sit and have coffee.

This Borders isn't nearly as well-stocked as the one downtown. It is located in a mall area, so the building itself is only one story, and space is limited. Not nearly as many sections as the one downtown. If you have a choice, don't come to this one.

this is like the book heaven. if you need books, DVD's, or music you can get it there. they even have sales. is a good place to study. the have food and drinks and tables to study at. o theres also a great little section for kids!
4Borders is a great place to study, read, or meet up with friends. I like the quiet atmosphere that allows me to read my books and study without any interruptions. When I am bored, I can go listen to various kinds of music. Borders is a great place to find artists and books that you like. The beverages sold at the Border's cafe are delicious. The prices of books, cds, and dvds are pretty fair. The staff really makes sure you find what you need.

I go to two borders. The one in downtown s.f and the one at stonestown galleria. I like the dt one much more because it's a big store. I believe it has 3 floors. The one at stonestown is also nice but it does get crowded, especially after school. They have good service and i always find the book i want. If they don't have the book they will order it for you. overall i give these two store 5 stars.

Aside from the fact that this bookstore is located next to my school, it's a nice place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee while reading a prospective book buy. I recently went to Borders to purchase some books for a college project and I found their workers to be helpful, knowledgeable and eclectic. They offer wi-fi access through t-mobile; however it used to be free. I also appreciate the fact that they have a section that features products from local artists.
PROS: Wi-Fi Access, Helpful staff and books by local artists.
CONS:

Great store! I have found books here that aren't in any other bookstores. There are tons of people in there because it's at a mall. Too many people sitting around and reading the materials. The employees are very helpful. The music and cafe sections are pretty good too. They have tons of new books, cds, and dvds.

way too many peeps go here. it's so overcrowding. it's real nice though and they have an upper level. a lot of nice books. not a lot of deals. too many long lines.
2this place seems more like a zoo than a bookstore. there are way too many people here. no one can get any studying done here at all. it's very noisey since it attracts tourists. this is the type of place to go and hang out or get a book and be on the go. i really do not like crowdiness in places.

This place is huge - two stories in San Francisco! Usually there is a great selection of books and magazines. I particularly like how there are places to lounge around and sit during a busy weekend shopping in SF. Very relaxing with it's faux stone fountains and the occasional popular artist who come in and play music. for all to enjoy.

Borders in SF is one of the greatest Borders that there is! Famous musicians often come here to play. I've went here for a Maroon5 show. They have wide variety in choices of books and probably offer more books than any of the Borders that I have been to. It's always packed and full of people. The workers here are very friendly and nice. And this Borders have two stories in it, so imagine all of the book choices over here!
PROS: a lot of choices, musicians come here to play, often crowded, too noisy.
CONS: no parking, take public transportation.

This store has a great selection of books, and they'll find and/or order you something if you can't find it in the store that day. That's the good part that I've experienced first hand.
The bad part is that this store gets a lot of traffic (mall location), and so can get pretty noisy and messy - books and magazines all over the place, bathroom reeks. So if you're looking for a place to relax for the afternoon, this might not be the place.
Additionally, many college and high school students use the Cafe to study at (SF State and Lowell High very nearby), so it's literally impossible to find a place to sit at the Cafe. I repeat - impossible! And they're pretty lax on the enforcement of buying something to eat/drink in order to use the Cafe seating.
So overall, good place to find a book, but not a great place to hang out.

I'm a fan of Borders. It your typical corporate book store that is all over the country. But they have all the latest books, music, and other literary goods. You can just pick a book out and sit down in one of their couches. You don't even have to buy anything. Lots to choose from, you can listen to music, browse through magazines, and it is a relatively big store. Good place to waste a couple of hours of your day.

A nice mainstream bookstore chain. Has something for everyone - books, music, DVDs, and a cafe. The music and DVD departments are pretty small, though. Lots of bargain books in the center of the store. Well-organized, clean, and well-lit. The gift cardsare widely available-another plus. The Stonestown location unfortunately doesn't have too many events such as author readings or music performances.
