My experience with Mulloys spurred me to create a Citysearch account. I found this store while searching for Tacori rings and I was helped by pleasant lady named Mary. Compared to the other three people I had talked to about the line, she definitely knew the least about it, offering no technical expertise or explanation of design but instead, simple, empty flowery adjectives like "nice, pretty" and "special." So is the puppy at the local pet store, but it doesn??t mean that I want spend $8,000 on it.
From there, I inquired about the price, I was placed on hold and then Mary came back and quoted the price the other three stores had but then she said, "now wait, let me see what special price I can give you." Then she said that she could do it for a much lower price. I asked her to e-mail me the quote and she sketchily said that she couldn't do that but she assured me that she could honor the price. Thinking that this store might be pawning off fake rings as real Tacori's, I called Tacori directly. What I found out made me write this review. Tacori signs a contract with all of the jewelers who carry their line and they establish pricing minimums, so even if the store has rings on sale, the ring can not be sold below a set price. Tacori assured me that the price that Mary gave me over the phone "had never been authorized" and I then found out that Mulloys is in danger of losing the entire Tacori line of rings FOREVER because of repeated "contract violations." As in, this store would no longer be authorized to sell, service, clean, size or repair any of Tacori's rings...ever. The representative suggested another store that carries Tacori that is in good standing with the company. She also explained that if a store sells below the pricing minimum, they could, at any time, lose the entire line and the right to service them, permanently. With that in mind, I bought from a store that plays by the rules and one that can guarantee me service for life. If a jeweler is willing to lie and cheat on one end, why wouldn't they do it you?
