After driving by this strip mall a thousand times, my husband and I finally decided to give it a try. We had been craving good Peking duck since we moved back from VA where we used to frequent the famous Peking Gourmet Inn and we hadn't

The only place in the area where you can find take out roast duck. The food was fine, typical for the type of restaurant. We didn't really care for the place too much.
3This is our favorite Chinese in West LA! Whenever we can't decide where to go, Hop Woo gets everyone's yes-votes. Very authentic chinese food (I think I'm a fairly good judge of Chinese food since I've been to Hong Kong and China more

Pros: yummy yummy chinese all made fresh
Cons: staff speaks little english
I was brought up on authentic Chinese food, so I know a good Chinese restaurant when I come across one. I like their hot pots here - like the chicken with salty fish (be sure you can handle the salty fish aroma though). Their stir fry

Pros: Authentic Chinese food. Good prices
Cons: Parking
No, this isn't the fanciest chinese restaurant in town- not close- but it has very good food at rock bottom prices. I've had $13 whole lobsters, for instance, and they have tasty and very inexpensive Peking duck. They also have a very

Pros: Good food for fantastic prices!
Cons: Nothing, you can't beat this place for the price.
This restaurant has good deals on food.. but for any respectable cantonese person, HopWoo doesn't deserve more than 2 star. The cantonese chicken and duck is tasteless, cut in a wrong way and the sauces are just not right. The dishes are average and their free stuff is really just not worth the rest. I wouldn't recommend it at all!

It's hard to get good vegetarian food! The salty spicy tofu is out of this world! My husband loves the duck. The prices were very reasonable and portions are large.
5There aren't too many choices for Cantonese on the west-side - so Hop Woo is okay given their limited competition. It's a BBQ style restaurant, and the prices are relatively cheap. The BBQ duck is good - but the BBQ pork is far below

I lived in Hong Kong for over 9 years....and I must say this has really good Chinese food for the west side of LA. All my Hong Kong Chinese friends like this place too! The prices are great...especially the seafood dishes. I highly

there are a lot of better restaurants on the westside, but if you really need to get chinese and have no other options...
frankly, i recommend going to east LA if you want chinese food. i've been consistently disappointed with chinese

Pros: parking, fast service
Cons: bad food
This hole in the wall restaurant, which is located in a shady strip mall, has the best authentic Chinese food on the west side. From its fresh fish to its pungent poultry this is by far an excellent choice for very reasonable prices. Lunch
