Most of the time, it is hard to find street parking in downtown San Francisco. Sometimes, you're better off paying a few more bucks for garage parking. If you need to find parking in the heart of Chinatown, you might want to consider Portsmouth Square. The garage does get busy due to the multitude of restaurants around it. There are several floors of parking and you can learn some Chinese phrases that are wriiten on the columns. When the garage gets very busy, consider taking the stairs! The wait for the elevator gets agonizing.
