The salon is good. The business itself is good. As well as the service. I've came to have my hair cut and have hair treatment. The price was not that high, it's just right for their good service.

I really wanted to like this salon.

I recently moved from the Santa Barbara area to Whittier and wanted to find an Aveda salon. The salon I was going to in SB was an Aveda salon and I had such a great experience there...never a bad cut,

Do not waste you time buying any hair products from there. I spent almost $90 and my hair felt like concrete. Now since I'm toward the bottom of the bottle, my hair is feeling like it should. I really believe that they mix cheap stuff into the bottle and leave a small portion of the original product at the bottom. If I wanted to by contaminated products I'd just go to Ross or TJMaxx... why spent $90 on 2 liters of Aveda hair products!!!!!

Earlier this year I cut my hair to donate it in support of my aunt who is fighting breast cancer (and winning!) Id been growing out my hair since I was 18 (24 now) so it was a BIG deal! From when I first made my appointment I knew i'd be ok. Ii was setup with a stylist named Lauren who specializes and LOVES to style and cut curly hair. She is truly amazing! We cut off over 14 inches of hair and weren't left with much but she worked her magic and created a beautiful, bouncy manageable curly bob cut - with a bit of an edge. I just went back to get a trim and Lauren was as sweet as ever, remebered just what my hair looked like when she first cut it and once again worked her magic. If you have curly hair andf arte looking to take a rsik - artika is the place and Lauren is the woman for ther job. Great! Great! Great!

I have moved and had trouble finding a Salon that would give me everything...great service, great stylist and fab price. By recomendation I ended up in Artika, and my God was my friend right! After being a brunette for so long, I wanted to go lighter and was very hesitant. The stylist and her assistant made feel at ease, totally the boost I needed! I should have known it would be great, this place has great reviews from everywhere. On another review a client mentioned they had a bad expeience with the same stylist I got, I'm not a regular and did NOT have that problem at all. Sometimes its the emotional client...not the stylist. I will however, be a regular client from now on! Best experience I have EVER had at a salon, and not only was my hair exxxxxxactly what I wanted ( I wanted to scream, but a bit embarassed. I did squeek in happiness in the car though) but I think its the people that truly make it the cherry on top!

When you go to a salon you want to get your hair done but make friends with your stylist right?? You want to sit and have fun and talk about what you have planned for the week/weekend right?
So yea if emotions have something to do with your hair then yea emotions play a big part!
BUT IF YOUR SAYING THAT IM EMOTIONAL BLAH BLAH
THEN GET OVER IT. I JUST WANTED A LITTLE HELLO NOW AND THEN...

My wife referred me to Cesar, he did a great job I have to say I will always want a mini facial now with my service. You guys really took care of me. Keep it up and I'll be coming to uptown from now on.

I was treated great from phone call to check out. I almost didn't think I could find a salon like ARTIKA. I was referred by a friend and called first to get a feel of the place. Check it out!

My sister purchased a giftcard for me, it was for the makeover service. I can say I really enjoyed this treatment. It included their professional conditiong treatment + a 10 minute scalp massage, which I didn't know how bad I needed. Thank you to their staff for making every effort to make me comfortable.

This salon is beautiful inside, and they take good care of all of their hair utensils. The hair stylist are very nice, and give great hair cuts. They also did a good job with my high lights. It was a bit chilly in here though, so take a jacket!!!

So this was my first time going to a real salon to have my hair done - usually I just have it trimmed by my mother's friend. I searched the best salons near where I work, and Artika came up. When I read the reviews, I simply HAD to try it. Their website is very well designed and informative, which attracted me even more than their prices did. I decided to try it and went in last night at 4PM to have a trim and highlight by Lina. I arrived a few minutes late, but they still treated me with respect and didn't seem too upset. In fact, I was offered a drink as soon as I walked in, and let me tell ya, the tea is wonderful! The wait was not long at all and Lina greeted me with genuine warmth. As I haven't had my hair colored before, I can't rate the quality of this service, but it was a pleasant, peaceful experience. Lina kept up a friendly chatter so I felt very at ease. While waiting for the highlights to set in, there were also some great magazines to check out. But the best part was when I was offered my "sensory adventure" - I got an awesomely relaxing mini-facial that almost put me to sleep! The trim also turned out great and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. And even when the color didn't turn out exactly as I'd expected, they immediately offered to fix it for free! All in all, I can say this was a wonderful experience, one that I'll be telling all my friends about.

I had been searching for a salon like you would not believe it. I read all the reviews on Artika and I just had to try it out. I had my hair cut with Lauren. She is just a friendly and sweet person. I absolutely loved my hair and my husband and daughter loved it as well. Lauren is great she gave me great advise on what would work for me and went over some great hair tips. I have curly hair and she just did an amazing job. I highly recommend Artika. I can't wait for my next visit.

Great front reception, I was given alot of help and they were nice about it. I just walked in to meet one of the stylists that my friend had recommended, the stylist was working on another person but the person(s) in front were very cordial. I appreciated it. Had a great visit, couldn't have started my graduation day any better. Hats off to you, ARTIKA, thanks.

Let tell you my amazing experience, I had an appointment on 3/28 and met one of their creative stylist, Lauren. She was simply adorable and displayed brilliance, flair, and mastery skills. I walked out loving my hair and feeling like two million bucks. Unfortunately my employers did not appreciate my new do and asked for me to have it revised before our big proposal upcoming Monday. So naming the obvious I called Artika on a Friday. A very friendly receptionist picked up and I had to explain to her that I had my hair done 7 days ago and I need it redone that day (aka the busiest day of the week). Surprisingly the receptionist said "NO problem, when can you come in?" My reply was "Will this be free?" Her response "OF COURSE! We want to make you happy. ? Within 2 hours I walked into Artika up to the front counter feeling nervous, sort of embarrassed (and kind of scared if I was to bump into Lauren.) The next thing I know Lina walks up to me, shakes my hand and leads me to her station. Explaining to her my situation, Lina took great care of me; she gave me a sophisticated chic appearance. During the process I bump into Lauren while getting my hair wash, and she was so sweet. She said ?Hi beautiful? with a smile. So with all this is this being said, Artika is the BEST experience I ever had in my past 10 years of receiving hair care. Lina has talent, intelligence, inventiveness and virtuosity. The entire staff is amazing from the receptionist to stylist. So anyone that writes a bad review is wrong and didn?t give themselves a chance. Lauren did NOT display any animosity to me, so there should not be any towards Artika. So let me conclude this review with ARTIKA ROCKS! Price is extremely acceptable= $170 for partial highlights+stylist cut (my hair is 7-8 inches pass the shoulders.)Parking is FREE and convenient . very complete visit. I have curly hair and love precise cuts. Evelyn started my cut by blowdrying my hair straight and then doing a complete flat iron then following with my cut. I have to say I know this my not be the procedure for everyone but I felt great with a capitol G. I just loved the care and precision, it felt like my visit was all about me and I say Thanks!!!, evelyn.

After visiting this salon I can definately say I have no complaints. They made me to feel very special. I had noticed this place at a wednesday night farmers market, and had thought of trying it for awhile. I am glad I took a leap of faith. Would love to download their music selections. I admit I still can't style my hair as well as Aracely did it for me, but I'm working on it.

My hairs been around, literaly to alot of people. I've done professional hair modeling and etc. so I have had the great privilege of my hair being cut by some really great people and one really bad experince. I've used citysearch before & went to another highly rated salon located in BH but it was pricely but worth it-but since I couldn't book with my regular colorist on the same day(my schedule is irregular) I tried Artika & was able to get an appt. with them the same day. Good plus! Anyhow since I use the reviews here decided to give back to other readers like myself.
Location is in a nice area of Whittier & although lacking in a parking lot of their own, there's a public parking lot literally a few feet from the salon which only charges $1 for a whole days parking ($2 if after 5 PM) so pretty convenient . *see extra perk below
The receptionist is extremly nice & friendly via on the phone & in person. My stylist and colorist, Lauren was nice, warm and listened to what I desired in color and cut. I was happy with my new color & they also provide you with a free sensory addition, ranged from a hand massage, scalp massage or mini facial-I got the facial.Very nice & aromatic. Overall the results of my color were great and my haircut/trim was very nice and I was even able to add on an extra service (got my eyebrows done-tint and wax) with ease.
Atmosphere of salon is busy but organized calm-ambient music playing, they were busy but employees seemed friendly, and smiled alot-good thing. Not pretentionous or any sales pressure, staff tried to please, they kept offering me tea or something to drink, so that was very nice. Overall great place because they do a good job just like other very expensive salons, great prices (but hey I understand our appearances are definitely worth it), willing to accomdate i.e. same day appt.s & add on services, simple ease of location and parking.

Thank you to this place, when I couldn't get in...the person on the phone offered a waiting list and to make a long story short they called me when someone cancelled and I was very happy because I always wait for the last minute. They may not know it but they made me feel like they were very happy to have me there and I appreciate it. There are not very many places that care about customers in that way and I only paid 55 for haircut, wash, style and a mini facial.

After reading the many positive reviews, I decided to try Artika HairSpa and chose Cesar as he was highly recommended as well. From the moment I walked in, the feeling was relaxed and very friendly. No snobby attitude at all, highly unusual for a hair salon. I was shown to Cesar, promptly, who looked at my hair and discussed with me what he wanted to do. He took his time and explained to me exactly what he was doing and also gave me advice on my color. My hair looks fabulous and it is the best cut I've had in maybe...years. I almost can't wait to return.

i went in to Artika today for the first time and had scheduled an appointment with Cesar. When i came in i was greated by a very friendly receptionist and my stylist was ready for me. he really worked with my ideas and came up with a really great cut!!! i am into alternative styles and its hard to find someone who knows what they are doing. he was great and i highly recommend him

I have been looking for a salon for quite some time and I finally ended up at Artika. The staff is curteous and caring. I feel like home everytime I get there. My hair stylist is great and I am very happy with the color he did on my hair. He knows what he is doing. He follows the trend and changes my color according to that. He is so much fun. He is a great artist and he is the coolest guy. I highly recommend the salon for anybody.

I went there for the first time after discovering it on citysearch. I was estatic that it wasn't a stuck up salon in Los Angeles or Santa Monica. It was a great experience. I went in a bit nervous because it had such great reviews that I feared the people might be stuck up but that was not the case AT ALL. They were all very very nice and welcoming. I completely recommend Lina. The new talent. She gave me the most amazing hilights. What I loved more? She was my age (20 something). She knew what I wanted and I had no fear telling her what I didn't want. She did an AMAZING job. I can't wait to go back.

i guess the customer is "set-up" with NEW TALENT on his/her's first appoinment,which i had no idea that ,that is how this Salon system works. i mean i looked thu the web site,saw the stylists,coachs the owner,and the new talent,i saw all theire pictures,no biggie. i did remember reading about how the satff went out of their way to get a client a bottle of sparkling water.
I am a fan of sparkling water myself,so when asked by 2 staff members of Artika would you like some water? i responded why yes,do you happen to have any sparkling water? they both looker @eachother,then @the owner and much to my amazement he told them to go downstairs and check the wine cellar(his voice was dripping with sarcasim! WOW! The Owner. Anyway i decided to stick it out because i too had had a long day that began @5am which led me to get off at work 5pm. when i explained to my 'new talent' girl i woulnot have minded if "the boss"would have come around a taken a look a my hair and put his 2cents in,to me she's in training. i could see all the other stylists looking @us,it would have been okay to ask for their opinion,overall whenever i shared vision of colors of my hair,she would speak back to me as if she heard some thing entirely different,which i fine some people just dont fit. i just didn't have the heart to tell her. the color was have bad. BUT on the website it states clients are offered 3 sensory spa treatments,i was only offered 2 the back massage or scalp rub. i chose the scalp rub,i call rub because that's what it felt like; it lasted for maybe 2min.which i had to keep my head up most of the time. if i'm not mistaken i thought a foot massage was one of the spa sensorys offered to clients? I did love my new hair cut,my new talent gave me. i will give Artika a 2nd chance because of that,and it's location.

I recently received a bad haircut from a salon in the area and I left that salon with wet hair and ran into Artika. My friend recommended this place to me before, but I was concerned with the prices so I went into a "cheaper" salon. Big Mistake! Artika made me feel so comfortable and fixed my haircut as well as recommended me a wonderful conditioning treatment which made my hair feel so soft, shiny, and healthy. I left so happy and came back a week later for hi-lights and once again they corrected my previous color. I'm never going to another salon again, even if it means paying a tad cheaper. Thank you Artika for saving my hair!

I moved to Whittier a few months ago and have since been searching for a place to get my hair done. I happened upon ARTIKA and made an appointment to get my hair cut. It was great, the people there were so friendly and my hair cut still looks good 6 weeks later. I will definitely go back.

From the moment I walked in, to the moment I walked out I had the most amazing experience! I was greeted by the front desk who was friendly and welcoming. The assistant hung up my coat and offered me some comforting tea. My stylist listened to my concerns about my hair and put me at ease and gave suggestions in what would work for me and in my busy lifestyle here in Southern California. Afterwards I was shampooed that included an option of getting a complimentary shoulder massage, facial, makeup touch up or hand treatment. I chose the hand treatment while getting my hair shampooed and my scalp massaged that felt like I died and went to heaven. I have been looking for a hairstylist that would meet my needs and this was amazing. I not only looked great, I felt great.

i went to get my hair done a month or two ago and i was really disappointed with the end result. i went in expecting a lot, maybe too much. i felt that it was basically the same as it was, and even now, i can't even tell it's been cut. i brought in a picture of how i wanted it, and it didn't end up looking like that at all. i don't think i'll get my haircut there again, regardless of how nice it is whatnot.

I recently walked into Artika Hair Salon just on a whim. I work near the area and was trying every place imaginable. I was never quite happy with what I had been receiving. Instantly walking in the lady at the desk was extremely friendly and understood what I was trying to achieve. She introduced me to a stylist who guided me through the whole experience. I walked out having my color, highlights and cut with a blowdry. I look fantastic. I have several people asking me, "Who does your color". I have NEVER had this happen to me. Not only was my hair gorgeous but the staff was lovely. I have recommended Artika to all my friends, family and work associates. Thank you to the staff at Artika Hair Salon!

I've got the gossip, I've received so many compliments on my hair since my visit at this salon. They should have a spotlight on them or something for their attentiveness. I was suprised when I went on to review my visit that someone before me had anything less than a great time. I not only got attention from my stylist but from others as well, even from whom I think was the owner.

I am a fan of this place, I actually enjoy getting my do done. Love the fresh floral and the way the staff works together.

Staff is extremely rude and unprofessional !! They will screw your hair and rip you off your bucks. This place pretends to be a high-end salon but once you get there and try their service you'll realise what you got yourself into. So to avoid tears and bitter regret, never go to this aveda salon, unless you want to lose a couple hundred bucks and all of your hair! They might offer a complementary fix-up but it will only make things worse because staff is unexperienced, unprofessional and RUDE! "stylists" are just uneducated youngsters and very rude on top of that, they don't care about your hair, they don't even bother to listen you out .
AVOID!!!

i'm so happy that i finally found the best salon ever! Patricia (the front desk) is just so sweet and accomodating. She called at 10:15am to switched my 10am appt. to 12pm (i thought it was at 12, oops!). She even gave me a dollar for parking when i didn't have any cash on me to pay for it. I was immediately offered a delicious Chai Tea Latte (one that i'm still craving for at this minute) with constant refills.

My stylist was Norma, who worked wonders for what i thought was unfixable hair. She was able to pick a color that hid the orange color blobs in hair and also "complemented the red tones in my skin", according to her. The haircut transformed my limp, dry hair to a volumized, light & airy style that changed my entire face. She was very friendly, and easy to talk to. I definately will go back to ARTIKA again. I've already convinced my sister to make an appt. today!

*A few feet away, there is even a couple of cute (and inexpensive!) boutiques to go shopping at after your services. Who doesn't love that?

Visited for the first time this weekend, and absolutely loved it. I felt immediately like the stylist understood exactly what I was talking about, and she really "got" it. The service was excellent, and everybody was extremely friendly. I was happy w/my cut, but since I'm still getting used to paying more than $20 for a haircut I probably will not pay extra for the blowdry/style next time... but I definitely will be back next time. Everything was excellent.

My visit was very disappointing. I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair to be cut and it ended up looking nothing like the picture. My family cringed when they saw my haircut. I would not recommend this salon.

I've been going to Artika for a couple of years now and the experience is always superb. The staff is incredibly nice and courteous. They offer tea and coffee for your comfort as well as a complementary sensory experience (massage, facial, etc). The owners always let you know how much they appreciate your visit. This place is great if you need a high-quality salon outside of LA.

This is the best salon I've been so far! I've tried so many of them and I couldn't find a single one to fit my needs. If the atmosphere was nice, the haircut was terrible, if the haircut was good, the staff was rude and so on. But for the 1st time I'm very happy with everything! The haircut is great, I love it! The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is awesome! I got a haircut, a complementary back massage and a complementary make up all for $35!!!! Can you imagine that! And all that with no pressure to buy any Aveda products from them or register with the salon (which I expected). The people were just friendly and very happy to see me there!

When I got out of the salon, I loved the way that my hair bounced... But, the staff did not notify me about the preferred progam- which would've been great. Seeing as how I DID buy some of the Aveda products. Anyway, when I got home, my brother AND my mother laughed at the way my hair looked (I have part African American hair.) because my hair was really big and puffy. I looked like a Texan to say the least. My stylist was nice, she took care of me, and I even tipped her... But the staff was slightly indifferent, and not as friendly as I expected them to be.

Everything about Artika is 5 star....cuts, color, massages, pampering, VIP treatment from everyone!!...and the greatest luxury are the rock bottom prices...CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!

I was referred to artika by a local restaurant. My visit was a great one, boy was I taken care of, they even arranged for makeup tips with their visiting makeup artist. A personalized conditioner was made for my color, I have never felt so good about a salon. Aracely set a plan already for my next color. Thank you to her and to everyone there because they were all so kind.

With a recent stay at a local hotel, I visited this salon because I love the aveda products, I'll be back for their service. I decided to write a review because just yesterday I received a call from them asking how my service was and how they could do better. I enjoyed my haircut service but that was a topper, today at work I was raving about them.

I walked in one stressful day after work.. had no idea what i wanted to do to my hair or what i would look like when i walked out.. A young pretty girl was working that day.Evelyn came over said to sit at her station she asked," what would you like today ." i said," not sure my head is in your hands." I was worried ,scared.. but it now has been 4 years later and no one.. and i mean no one is allowed to touch my hair ,, even when i am broke and can,t afford her i save till i can go back and have her do her magic on my hair.. all my co workers always aske me were i get my hair done at first i would tell them but now it is hard to get an appointment so i dont tell anyone anymore.

my mother and i were scheduled with two of their established stylists. mom gets the correct stylist. my stylist is finishing up, and she walks over... to take another client. WHAT??? the staff said nothing to me. fifteenminutes later another girl calls on me, and i realize that this was now my stylist??! she was the new talent, and in my opinion, not as experienced.
her opinions on how to cut my bangs were unsure and not very creative. when she lopped off my bangs (way too short) she actually tried to style my hair WITH bobby pins. WHAT? i go to a hair salon to make my hair look good WITHOUT accessories.
totally disappointed with the service and with my hair. at least sonja did a great job with my mother's hair. i will never go back here, or recommend anyone here again. this place has gone downhill.

This place is a space of it's own, it definately stood out to me. Lauren guided me through every step of my service. I am sending my husband to enjoy their 6 months of haircut experiences giftcard. I appreciate being taken care of, it's nice to see that a business still cares that you are their client. The extra touch, I prefer carbonated water, they sent out for one just for me.

It's a hot spot! The space was great, I think it's a keeper.

I have to shout thanks to my sister for the giftcard, Jesse and Lina were a great team, Jesse's humor made me comfortable. I pay attention to detail and they had it covered.

I had received a gift card to be used at Artika once from a friend and so I went there to try it out. The place was quite modern in decor and the staff were so friendly and courteous. I was even given a hand treatment while my hair was washed. The stylist that cut my hair did such an excellent job, I was so happy with it. If the place was so far from where I live and didn't cost so much I probably frequent it.
