I wish I had the option for ZERO stars. I agree with all the negative reviews of this place and there are more on Google. This is a place to be avoided because of some guy (owner?) Tracy. He is awful and the prices ridiculous. He must think he has a monopoly on these parts or something. I found what I needed at Built-In Center and LTE on 715 Stockton Ave, SJ, CA 95126. These folks were great! Very helpful and friendly. Not sure how a toadbag like Tracy stays in business the way he operates. If you go, you will probably be sorry. Read up before you waste your gas and time

As a former faithful customer of APED for over a decade, they were always courteous and helpful. However about four or five years I noticed a change n staff. And while standing in line I watched them wait on male customers with a completely different demeanor than the female customers.Their posture, tone of voice & lack of eye contact reflected nothing but irritation & exasperation when dealing with females. Yet when males were waited on,they were conversaional in tone, engaged eye contact & were otherwise much more pleasant. When it was my turn, though I had the part in hand, they said they couldn't help me without the model number and waved forward the man standing behind me. I wrote a letter stating though I had appreciated their business over the years the change in staff & their behavior was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.
On todays occasion,I had called a week before to confirm they had the part needed by providing the model number. When told they did have the part, I went the following week. Four males were waited on before me pleasantly and I hoped things had perhaps changed. When it was my turn the clerk called me forward as he looked out the open door. I told him what I needed and offerred model number. He said he didn't need it and went down an asile. He came back with a part and when I offerred that the part didn't look the same as the old one,he rolled his eyes with irritaiton and said said "You have to take it apart & you'll see. And there are no returns". I quietly suggested that he didn't need to be quiet so condescending". I then asked that he verify the part by checking the model number. With exasperation he took the number and did find that he had indeed sold me the wrong part and said "well, do you want it?" And with no apology said they didn't have the actual part I needed. Matching his attitude I said "so you were wrong and incompetent so I will return it now". I quietly suggested that he look up the word "misogynist" and as I departed he handed me my refund receipt and making sure to be loud enough for others to hear he said "And, huh, there's a store across the street at Valley Fair , they sell wrinkle cream for those wrinkles around your lips".
The owner/manager was present and observed the entire transaction and was un-disturbed by this discourse. This would indicate the behavior is endorsed. They are a franchise so owner/operated and there is no authority above the store owner to file complaints. I shall be pursuing as many avenues possible to publicly denounce their discriminatory practices...starting with the BBB. Abject incompetence I can do nothing about.
(p.s. The second part they tried to sell me that they didn't have in stock after all was $87.00. I ordered it online from the manufacturer for $34 2 hours later. It's customer service like this that drives people to the internet)

OK we owned a old restaraunt and the equipment was old too! But it was all good and very expensive. One of our walk ins engines quit working. We had to get a new part and APED was the only place to have it! We looked for DAYS! Thank you!
