I've been to Azul several times and the food, service and the view are to die for. If you are looking for a wonderful place for a special occasion you can't go wrong. Another reviewer called it expensive, but I say you get what you pay for (sometimes). Azul is really a cut above the others and absolutely worth a few dollars more

I finally tried Azul with friends and though I thought the food was fresh and well prepared I also thought it was expensive.

Also- I had a baked potato and the waiter commited one of my pet peeves at restaurants- he insisted that the chopped green onions were actually chives.

This is actually becoming the norm at almost every restaurant you go to.

Kind of pricey, but ok if you want a special treat. The service is wonderful and if you go to a wine pairing dinner, you can have 4-7 courses (wine included) for under $100 per person.

Azul is a nice restaurant set in downtown La Jolla. You can get a great view of the ocean while you eat. I went here during restaurant week and the food was delicious. The scallop and desserts were amazing. It was rich tasting, but not to the point of too much. This place is not for everyday eating though because the prices are fairly pricey. It is nice for special occassions or during happy hours.

Cons: brunch is only on sunday and they don't serve breakfast the rest of the week either

The elevated view over La Jolla Cove and the Pacific Ocean is stunning and only visible from Azul or one of its neighboring restaurants. Be sure to step outside onto the terrace/stairway for an even better perspective. Prices here are very expensive (read: impress your date by taking them here), making it a nice treat for a special occasion but impractical for an everyday meal. Best kept secret: until 7pm everyday it's happy hour and items on their extensive tapas menu can be had for half-price at the bar or on the outdoor patio. The tapas are not really Spanish tapas in the traditional sense, rather appetizers and even some small-meal sized portions a collection of which could certainly make for a hearty meal.

PROS: The view, the food, the ambience.
CONS: Very expensive (except the happy hour!)
