Place is not fancy but is fresh quick and tasty. Me and my co-workers ate there at lunch and had loved the food.

I'm usually not a complainer about what I eat. I'm usually pretty satisfied with the meals that I eat out.

Pancho Villa Taqueria was recommended to me by friends and also when I'd go searching for a meal on the Internet, so one Saturday evening, the wife and I decided to give it a try.

Parking was ridiculous and after driving around for 15 minutes looking, we parked in the Dreygers Market parking lot, which is not recommended...there are signs stating "Customers Only". But, in our pursuit for great Mexican food, we took the chance.

The place was packed, loud and all the employees were moving at an insane pace. With no place to sit and people standing, waiting for their order we ordered a couple of the Grilled Chicken Burritos, to go. Waited about 15-20 minutes and raced home to eat.

The burrito was tasty, but was very light on the quantity of the chicken, which was very delicious. The rest of the burrito was very juicy with lots of beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. I really wish they would have been more generous with the amount of meat and went a bit lighter with the other ingredients.

We tried again on a weekday a few weeks later. We were able to dine in and both of us got the carne asada enchilada plate. Two enchilada's rice beans, salad and tortillas. They were a bit more liberal with the meat here, but the whole meal was just "good" at best. Nothing to write home about.

Also, the price of these meals seemed to be a bit on the pricey side. We've eaten much better food at better prices at other taquerias'. Maybe for the ritzy people that shop in the area this is a great place to eat, but my suggestion is to NOT waste too much time and effort. Try a local taqueria that's close to home, find a good one you like and stick with it.

Man! The burritos are great. Everytime we are in th bay area, we make it a point to go here. We have had the oppurtunity to eat at all three locations. The good thing is that the quality remains the same no matter where to go. The carne asada is full of flavor. I think that the San Mateo location is the best only because of the size. You can usually find a table with out have to stand and wait for someone to finish and leave so that you can sit down.

Best fast food I've ever had.

I don't know how anyone could say the people are unfriendly! I've been out of town so I can't really say anything about the change in staff, but when I used to go there with my younger brother when he was still little and we'd always get him a smoothie and the smoothie guy would aaaaalways give him extra in a little cup. It was cute and endearing.

I don't even need to say anything about the food, it's obviously delish. I'd say it's a great place for people to go to since it doesn't carry the most allergic to foods like peanuts or dairy products. try the frescas <3

Only con is that they aren't open as long as I'd want them to be - 24 hours!

Had a super carne asada burrito to go- yummy grilled flavor overall. My trick is to tell them to go easy on the rice! : )

I know lots of people go here. but personally, I don't like the service. The cashiers are always so unfriendly. Never see a smile on anyone's face there, have you noticed? It's like they are not allowed to smile. YOu would think for a mom and pop place they would be better. Mcdee's has better service with a smile better than this place.
THe food is ok but nothing great. I like La Cumbre much better. THe burritos at Pancho is a bit on the dry side.
And at Pancho, the flies that are always buzzing around makes me a bit paranoid if they ever landed on my meal before i got to it.
It's not even that cheap. and the wait certainly makes it even less inviting. It's been around for a while so i guess that's why people go. But if you want yummy food with atleast decent service, go elsewhere.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in San Mateo! Great veggie options, always fresh, and I love the different choices! Choose your salsa, beans, and tortillas!

PROS: Great Food!
CONS: Not enough places to sit. It's challenging to find seat during lunchtime.

Wow, I love the burritos here. Very authentic. Lots of options so you can make it exactly the way you like. In fact, maybe there are too many choices...

Clean -- all food prep is done under your nose.

Always very busy, but the line moves fast.

Pros: Excellent burritos, lots of choices, authentic

Cons: prices are a bit higher than most burrito places

Located on San Mateo's burrito row (B Street) which contains about a dozen burrito stores, Pancho Villa is among the biggest and really caters more to gringo palettes than providing great tacos and burritos. Its merely average, though the food is fresh and the resstaurant is clean and inviting

PROS: Clean, friendly restaurant with fresh food
CONS: only average quality food

I have been going to Pancho Villas for awhile now and have never been disappointed. The seating and comfortability is not the best, but the food and the price MAKE-UP for it.

I had a taco al pastor and a (spicy) steak fajita taco, but there was absolutely no flavor whatsoever in the meat. I did like the idea of the sauce bar, but I shouldn't have to sauce up my taco just so it has a bit of taste.

Maybe I should've gotten a burrito, you say. However, the same bland meat that filled my taco would have also been in the burrito. My experience with Mexican food in the Bay Area hasn't been the greatest so far.

The burritos are always delicious. They are always bussy, the service is really fast. I love that they have a salsa bar, so I can taste the different ones and refill my container without having to wait for them to do it for me.

Pancho Villa is our favorite local taqueria. And we must be in good company since it is always crowded.

There is wider than usual array of choices for fillings for tacos, burritos and more. Multi-time California State Fair award winning salsas on the help-yourself bar. The flavors are bright and fresh.

I'm partial to the grilled chicken tacos with black beans and hot salsa, but there's something for everyone here. Our daughter likes the pinto beans a lot.

Definitely the best burrito and taqueria in the area. Food is excellent quality, and is always consistent. The constant ordering line is testimant to the taqueria's popularity!

It has a very good food but more expensive than the one in the San Francisco and less portions.
