Leather Tongue video is almost obsessively curated. From the moment you walk in, if you are a Leather Tongue kind of person you'll know it. Nick Zedd, Lydia Lunch: if that's your style, this is your store. No doubts there. For everyone else there's Lost Weekend down the street. This store does stock lots of VHS and is really cheap.
PROS: Cheap.
CONS: Little. Particular taste.

It's not the biggest selection of videos that you've ever seen, but the variety and niche films that they do supply are worth spending a few months checking them out. Prices aren't too high and the guy behind the counter has some good suggestions.

Some stores have obviously more bankroll and a wider selection of DVD titles, but this one man operation has character and lotsa VHS for you old schoolers. Started over 10 years ago, it's been sitting on the same corner of Valencia & 18th with it's oft wacky window displays creating a stir. Inside meet the punk rock proprietor who will have the latest recommendation whether you dig adult anime, bootleg documentaries or crazy hong kong action. Climb the winding metal staircase if you dare for even more stock...be sure to check the flyers posted at the door for tips on all the latest hubbub going on around town too!
