It had been years since I had visited Reuben Fleet so I had forgotten how interesting it it.
I don't think it's just for kids. I found plenty to entertain me- It's a great place to browse when you're at Balboa Park.
5For me, this is a childhood memory. WIth a number of hands-on science discoveries, there are a million things for kids to do. Although it is not as large as the Exploritorium in San Francisco, I must say that it is quite adequate for any child. There is also an IMAX theater with a lot of fun educational movies.

When visiting this museum, it's hard to choose what to do first - the IMAX or all the activities. The place is packed with all types of great hands-on activities to do, that even adults find entertaining and informative, which are all kept in good condition. The museum routinely plays multiple IMAX films to choose from in their large theater, all fact-filled and fun to watch.

There is a mini town just for little kids, with conveyor belts and all kinds of hands on stuff. You can spend hours here. There are also tons of displays for grown-ups and teens, and the IMAX can't be beat. 10 am Saturdays they have a kids' star show at the theater.
5The Scary's book themes had a travelling show here now too long ago designed to appeal to younger children. It was so popular that they decided to open something more permanent. It is designed for the youngest visitors. Toddlers are likely to find it the most fun. Exhibits (toys?) are at their level and oriented towards their abilities. They say younger can come but my 10-month old was more interested in the other kids than the new exhibit. I will be coming back very soon though.

I love the Imax movie theater here! It's the dome type screen, where you feel like you're in the movie! The science center has so many different items to check out and learn about different aspects of science, its a great place for young and old alike!
5I absolutely love the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in San Diego's Balboa Park Area. The target audience is more of a youthful elementary and pre-teen age, rather than for older visitors. However, it is fun and still educational for everybody. The exhibits are always changing, so you can take your kids every year. To me, I love the Science Center because it is a huge playplace with many games, virtual reality acitivies, interactive exhibits, IMAX movies, motion simulators, and much more. The colors in the museum are bold and bright, suggesting a very youthful and exciting ambience.
PROS: Very fun with a plethora of thought provoking exhibits and interesting acti
CONS: Target audience = Teens and children, so not everyone would appreciate

Science fun zone for kids. The Science Center in Balboa Park was created specifically for kids. Children can go wild at the center with exciting experiments and games that teach them about many different scientific areas, and more generally how the world works. Great place for school field trips or just to take your kids.

The science center is a great place that I've have gone to many times as I've been growing up. It is a very fun yet educational place which brings science to life and gives kids a hands on interaction wiht science. It is perfect for the family or a school field trip.
