They have steaks in here! Right there and there I was impressed because I can take my steak with some whiskey, because that is how you take steaks.
5Having lived in Johannesburg for a good part of my life, I have really missed the South African way of life and food. Finding the Springbok Bar and Grill was like finding home. The boerwors was fabulous and there is nothing in the world like boerwors. They had biltong that most Americans unjustly compare to beef jerkey. but biltong is so much better. I wished there were some traditional South African desserts but I will make it a point to go back any time I am in LA. The owner, Robin, really made my wife and I homesick with his hospitality as South Africans always have a way of making you feel like you belong and are at home. I am looking forward to going back and hope it is when there is a rugby game because I can't imagine a better to place to watch a game.

My husband and I lived in South Africa; after a year back in the States we were REALLY missing South African food. We had searched high and low and found NOTHING in Las Vegas. On a recent trip to LA, we searched for a South African restaurant since we knew that there was a large South African population. We found Springbok and had a WONDERFUL meal: I got the boerwors roll and he got the braai platter. If you??ve never been to a South African braai, this is the closest that you can get in the US: a giant plate of meat with beer. We??re vegans now for dietary reasons, but we couldn??t help indulging; there is just nothing like South African food. The menu was even authentic, suggesting the best pairings for beer and rugby. Sigh.
I had also struggled to find a South African grocery store, as I learned to cook while we were living in Jo??burg, so I have been unable to make all of my best recipes since we??ve been back. We asked the owner where we could find a South African grocery store; besides giving us a fabulous recommendation, we also got into a great conversation about the country we share a mutual love for, from the food to the music to the society. The owner is from the Durban area and he reminded me what I miss even more than South African food: SOUTH AFRICAN PEOPLE. They are the most welcoming, friendly culture that I have ever encountered and Robin was no exception. After regaling the good old days in SA, he even gave us each a bottle of Mrs. Ball??s! If you??re looking for a lekker meal, the Springbok Bar & Grill is not to be missed.

This place is the best place to eat, drink and party. For the guys there's all sorts of sports being shown. Of course it can be busy at times but that's a good thing the last time I checked. The food just keeps getting better and the

This place has been around for over seven years and has just gotten consistently better. If you are looking for cheap pub grub look elsewhere, but if you don't mind spending a couple of bucks more for a truly amazing culinary experience

if you can get a table, if someone throws a menu at you, if your elbows don't stick to the table, if you don't get food poisoning, then....your golden.

My husband and I have enjoyed eating at Springbok, but it is just not wright that you don't hire enough staff for service. The girls working for you are working their butt's off and always, always have a smile on their faces. They are

Pros: Food great most of the time
Cons: Service and it's not the staff's fault
My husband and I went here on a whim. The drinks are good and atmosphere is fun on a Friday night. There is alot of room to stand and sit which is nice. It does get crowded on the weekends.
3My boyfriend and I decided to give this place another shot, we had gone in the first time on a Friday night and they were busy, but had a couple of tables that that had reserved signs on them, we stood there for almost 15 minutes waiting

Cons: They do not give tables to people who are waiting.
I've been going to the Springbok since it before it was the Springbok. The difference the way it was before and the way it has become after the Springbok was born is the difference between night and day. It is an excellent establishment

You wouldn't think food at a sports type bar or pub would be this good. The filet is awesome. I have never gotten anything to eat here that wasn't tasty. They have a nice layout and attractive, friendly staff. Definitely an interesting

Pros: Atmosphere. Variety of people. Food is great.
Cons: Parking. Service can be slow on busy nights.
Went there last night on a friend's recommendation. It's not in the best neighborhood and has only about 15 parking spaces. You don't want to park on the side streets, unless you don't want to keep your radio. But if you plan to arrive

Pros: Great food, drink and atmosphere
Cons: Wish it was closer to my house
I've eaten twice here and have gotten sick both times. There needs to some health inspection at this place. Do not go there unless you want to spend the night with your toilet.

I went on a random Wednesday night and had a wonderful meal and even some good conversation with a couple "regulars". The bartender was I assume the girl mentioned below "blond, Shannon" and I had no problem with her whatsoever, in fact

Cool Hangout! Bar is open late and the party usually goes on all night at Steve or George's boat. Robin is the best-est bar owner in Long Beach and Los Angeles. Thanks for all the comp drinks. See you in Costa Rica, Robin! Oh, I gave

If you are an ex South African you will love this place. Great food and thats all. The service is the same as in South Africa. Poor. Order 2 drinks when you can get a waitress to pay attention to you. You may not see her again for a while.

The first review on this site (by "blurg") is the most accurate review I've read on Springbok. It's really a cool local place - focused on rugby and South African food/sports - but Shannon, one of the blonde bartenders, is just horrible.

OK, So I have been going to Springbok for 3 years now, I love this place, the people are wonderful, the vibe is great, and the food is to DIE for. But there is this one blond bartender who will ignore you for at least 20 minutes.(no joke

I'll agree the unique food is tasty, but everything we ordered took forever to be served -- even one dinner roll took about 15 minutes to get to the table! The entire inside is barrrom noisy; the best place to eat is outside -- if you
