We have taken our cars to San Carlos Auto since it first opened and have had great service. Ask to speak to Brian. They have always been very helpful, and stayed open late one time before a holiday weekend to help with an issue.

Took my vehicle in for an oil change. When I got it back, white smoke billowed out the tailpipe. Went back inside and was told by the owner (an old man) to bring the car back the next day as he was closing shop. He could care less that the car was smoking as a result of their service. I told him the engne might be damaged if I drove it home--again, he could care less even though the car ran perfectly before they worked on it. I told him I would be leaving it in the lot and he better rectify his mistake. His attitude was--you guessed it--indifferent. The next day, Brian called and ADMITTED ON THE PHONE they had put twice as much oil in it than it needed, but that they had corrected it (but he gave no apology). When I went in the next day to pick it up, I asked for a copy of the work order, which the owner had in his hand, but he refused to give me a copy and instead sent me home. Subsequently I learned he violated the law by denying me a copy of the work order, so I decided to report them and write this review. After years of taking my cars (3 of them) there, there is NO WAY I will ever do business with them again.

BEWARE!

granted the shop is clean, i took my car a while back for a check engine light and it was mis diagnosis from Brian and his crew. i was leary about their ability to fix this problem because of how the more i asked what caused the problem the more frustrated Brian became. they gave me the price i feel was high to fix what he told me i was. always take your car for a second opinion because i did that and it was a vacumm leak. Brian wanted to sell me an oxygen sensor for 250.00 installed. a piece of vacumm hose to fix this problem cost me nothing from another auto repair shop. so if you know what is good for you go elsewhere.

We have used San Carlos Auto Service for well over 10 years, and got the first recommendation from our neighbor who uses them for all of his landscaping vehicles. Brian, and his team, provide the best value for dollar of any mechanic I've used. Above that, you get an honest estimate and courteous service.
On one occasion, my son (on a limited budget) needed some advise on what needed to be done. When he went to get the car, he was told what needed to be done ASAP, what could be deferred, and what he could do himself. Now that's an honest mechanic.

I've been having my car serviced at San Carlos Auto for many years. They have never let me down. Their prices are very competitive and reasonable. It is a family run business. The only downside is that they are closed on weekends.

I first used this after I bought my very own car years ago. I took it in to get the oil changed and discussed with the mechanic how I was going to Vegas. When I picked the car up, he had inflated and rotated all the tires, too, because he said that they needed it especially before a trip like that.
More recently, we took our minivan in for work. They have always been reasonably priced and reasonable. When the "check engine" light came on a couple days after we had the car serviced, they investigated for free although it had nothing to do with the work they did. The man then told me a sensor had died, and I could have all the sensors replaced at once but he wouldn't recommend it as it would get expensive (at a dealer they would recommend getting all of them replaced at once). He also explained, patiently and in detail, what the sensors did, all of which I checked out later with my father in law and husband, who know more about cars than I do. They did they work while I walked down to the gym so I wouldn't have to catch another ride, and each time the car got worked on, they were done when they said they were going to be done.
