The Navartan Korma is almost as good as sex.
This place, even has a lunch buffet in weekends, and every dish is phenomenally savory.

Emperor of India has a great lunch buffet. I remember eating dinner here a la carte maybe once and it was good, but the buffet remains the main reason why I come here.

The restaurant is very clean and the decor makes the place look a bit more upscale.

The lunch buffet is large with a lot of meat and veggie options. The standard chicken curry, the tandoori chicken, the saag, and the veggie korma are very tasty. But, there are always varying and new stuff to try that never fail to satisfy! And any Indian buffet that allows me to eat as much gulab jamun as I want gets 4 stars in my book.

For dinner, their lamb korma and hydrabadi chicken are TO DIE FOR. Oh yeah, and definitellyyy order the basket of mixed naan. The garlic naan and the onion naan are sooo good that sometimes I just eat them plain without dipping them in my curry :)

I come here for dinner with my family. The waiters know us by now because we're the family that doesn't take garlic/onion dishes :P Dinner time isn't usually crowded, and they're open during several holidays.

They've made great vegetarian suggestions, which we've ordered repeatedly. My favorites (excuse my spelling) include Aloo Gobi, Malai Kofta, Bhindi Masala, and Palak Paneer. Don't forget your Roti! The pricing is okay - not the cheapest, but a good meal nonetheless.

My cousin works near here, and she goes there for their lunch buffett too.

Good food been going here for Indian cusine for nearly five years, Just the other day I learned that the owner
does not give his employees any of the tips that customers leave. I actually learned this from one of the owners family member who also works for him. I see a high turnaround in hired help and now I am sure why this is. Anyway the food is good but the portions are very small for the price and I am not so sure on the quality, because once I orderd the lamb simosas and the lamb seemed to be bad. It was as if they had refrigerated the simosas for days. I asked for something else and I got a dirty look from the cooks when they took the simosas back. So if you go to eat here make sure not to leave a tip and by all means don't send the food back.

Pros: Okay food....and good indian beer!

Cons: The owner pockets all the tips!!!!

This is one of the fancier Indian places in South San Jose. The lunch is pretty crowded. Always a good idea to go early to get the fresh thing at a buffet. Good selection of veg and non veg dishes. The servers were nice and polite.

This is my second time eating at this restaurant. The service was good, although when my brother ordered a Corona, the waiter had to leave the restaurant to buy the beer at the corner market. The food is excellent. We ordered the Navartan Korma which gave you the feeling of comfort all over. The vegetables, I think were from a can or previously frozen, mixed in a warm cream sauce with a delicate trace of garlic and spices which blended so well together. It was heavenly! The butter chicken was also great. Chicken pieces were in a orange colored mild and creamy butter sauce with the perfect spices and chili that made it very tasty and smooth to the palate. I was too full to eat the Emperors Sampler of grilled meats and vegetables. I never had basmati rice and was a little hesitant because there were black flecks and small pods in the rice, but after one spoonful, I was glad I tried it. The food was served in small copper bowls and at first, I did not think that this would be enough food. I was wrong, after our meal, we asked for containers to take our food home because we could not finish everything. Overall, the food made you feel good and happy that the money spent was worth it. The food did take time to get out to our table but, we knew that they were making it fresh and not stored somewhere only to be microwaved. I would definitely go back again and again.

We made a stopover at San Jose for a night and were craving Indian food. This was the closet to where we were staying and headed there at almost closing time. They were kind enough to prepare Chicken Biryani and Prawn Biryani to go. Having tasted Biryani's at most major cities in the US and being a Biryani aficionado - I can say this rates in the top 5 Biryani's I?ve had in the US Indian restaurants. The spices were spot on so was the texture of the rice. It was a good marriage. I will definitely go back on my next San Jose visit.

We have been going to this place for last 3-4 years at least once or twice a month. The owner is very friendly and makes sure the service is great. There had been a rude waiter who has now gone to to a famous Santa Clara restaurant after he got fired from Emperor - the owner tried to make up in customer service himself but finally had to let him go - so things are well. I am sure the waiter will run into problems in the new place as well.

This restaurant has done well even though its in an area where not many Indian restaurants survive. Good place & ambience in a nice neighborhood.

The Emperor of India has a really nice modern decor, and great tasting food. I really like their buffet because they always have different foods offered. The menu is extensive. They are prompt and efficient. It is reasonably priced.
