Seigakuin is an elementary school which offers instruction in Japanese. At the time our child attended they accepted non-Japanese speaking children to the 1st grade, they also have 3 levels of pre-school education. At the time of our involvement the non-native Japanese student was becoming more prominent.
They offer a very small class size with amazing teachers. They are the epitome of educators, caring about students and their education and lives. They provide daily feedback on the child's experiences.
Their education is based upon the Japanese Ministry of Education's guidelines. It is very comprehensive and challenging, but not overly stressing. They also provide seperate English classes for native English speakers and ESL students. I believe that they now teach science for English speakers. Most instruction is in Japanese and provides the immersion a child needs to make learning new language much easier.
They are now in a new location in a good suburban area. Easily accessible from most locations, and close to I-285 and I-85. They also offer a bus route.
Seigakuin is affiliated with the Methodist Church and has daily prayer time first thing in the morning. They also introduce the traditional Japanese cultural experiences such as the rice pounding and sports day.
PROS: Excellent education, new language instruction at most opportune time.
CONS: For parents dealing with a new culture
