I found this location to be dry. I found the manager to be some what distant with clients.

I actually met one of the owners and found her to be very charismatic and polite.

I found some of the staff a long with the manager negative

Whew! Where to begin....Ok, I went to Absolu for a Brazilian wax. I had one done at another place (Naked Monkey) so it's the only comparison I have. I asked for Miriam because I read on other reviews that she's the best. Well.....maybe...I can only compare her to Naked Monkey and she comes up short.
Here's why:
I was told to get undressed and lay on the bed but was given no towel with which to cover myself for the few seconds when the door is opened. She jumped right into wazing -hot wax, rip, hot wax, rip and so on. I finally started to pull my skin taut so it wouldn't hurt so badly and ended up getting wax on my hands. (NM instructed me where and how to do it and gave me a towel, as well). A Brazilian is painful, that's a given, but this was my second one and it shouldn't have hurt quite as much. At any rate, when it was done, Miriam rubbed some oil on the area and gave me some for my hands so we could get the wax off. As expected, the waxed area was swollen and red but, rather than apply the healing cream before I left (as they do at NM), she gave me a small packet of it( there is plenty in it) and told me to wash and apply it when I get home. She did warn that it would "tingle" so that wasn't a problem. The problem was that I wasn't going right home. IN fact, I wasn't going anywhere where I'd be able to do this, so I spent the rest of the day in pain and discomfort. (At NM, after the cream (finipil) was applied, I was comfortable, although a bit pink, the rest of the day.) In the evening, after the swelling went down a little, I still had a painful, sensitive spot in one area. Turns out, I had either a cut or scratch. I can tell you that wasn't there before the waxing! All night, I itched and hurt. This morning, I have a bright red rash, so still can't surprise my hubby with the waxing;) I haven't gone anywhere but the two salons but the treatment was very different. Absolu is cheaper (by 5.00) but Naked Monkey is much more service and care oriented. ONe last thing, Miriam did not leave the room to allow me to get dressed privately afterward. We can quibble over the fact that she just waxed my whole *** but it's an illusion of dignity and privacy that should have been offered.

NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a gift certificate from this place!! Turns out if they do not have your information in the system, which they only keep on average of 6 months, they will not honor your gift certificate! Even though I provided them with the certificate that they wrote last year at christmas time they would not honor it. Makes no since to me how they can not honor it considering I have the actual certificate. Its not my fault they dont have it in their system. So, I done a little research!! A unclaimed or unused gift certificate has to be filed with the attorney general and that money goes to the state as unclaimed money. The person who purchased the certificate can apply online to get their unclaimed money back. In this case Absolu does not file unused gift certificates. If you dont use it before the 6 months then it is no longer in their system then they keep your money as a profit even though a service was never provided! My certificate was 225.00 and at this rate they are making bank for doing nothing other then writing these things out. Maybe that is how Claire, the owner can afford her trips to South Africa??? According to the staff that is where she is currently so she can not be reached.

I was really looking forward to trying Absolu spa. I had never gotten a bikini wax before, and now am very scared to go again. I was expecting pain, but for her to try to talk to me while ripping the wax off seemed a tad unprofessional.

It's difficult to find a good waxer, in fact I'm still looking here in Phoenix for someone who can even come close to Mariam! I even went back to her went I visted Indy. If you're looking to get a bikini wax of any kind, request her, and

I have visited Absolu Spa and Skin Care for few times. The spa's pedicure is worth every single penny - it is about 40 dollars. They do a scrub, a mask, moisture and massage even before they get to the actual toenails! I did this before few months and now i am not sure about the price. They also have many products and give sugestion in selecting the product you need if you are confused on which product to buy. Call in advance, it's always booked up a few weeks out.

I went to Absolu for some waxing services. Their facilities are beautiful and their prices are very fair, but I was not blown away by their customer service. I felt like the waxing was not as professionally completed as I've experienced at other salons, and the girls at the front desk did not seem to go out of their way to make sure you had a good experience. I would go back again, but would probably ask for a different aesthetician.

This is a very posh, upscale spa. I've had great facials and manicures there. They have all of the latest in skincare and massage technology available. Super nice staff and will fit you in during any time. A bit on the pricey side.
