If you really love books, then this is your place. The staff will even hold a book for you! It's cozy and warm, not cold and sterile. The clientele love books, too -- no people in a rush to grab a copy of the latest trash book. Everybody takes their time to browse. The staff is a wonderful asset and makes great recommendations. As a treat, they feature books by local writers. The children's section (in a completely separate space) is a great addition.

I have always liked supporting locally owned book shops and this is one of the best. They have an amazing selcetion for such a small shop. I almost never make it past the staff reccomendations before wanting to buy more than one book! They also have great events from the small in the shop readings to the books and brews events. I never make it to either of these as much as i would like to, but I do try. I mark them on my calendar every month and try to make one or two. Such diversity.

Newtonville books is a great store. Many large corporate books stores are becoming more popluar recently, but Newtonville Books will always be my favorite. It is a small place, with workers who know their books, and always are willing to lend a helping hand.

PROS: Small, Local
