What the heck. Is all I'm saying. What-the-heck.

Okay, so walk in to a regular pet store and find, what? A few parakeet, some tropical fish, I don't know, the usual.

Walk in to Newtonville pet and the first thing you're greeted with is a wet puppy nose and a lick to your foot. [well, depending on your height]. I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say "snappy" and such as the Owner, Co-workers go. I for one, found them very nice --hey, don't you get snappy sometimes too? Unfortunately, you may have just gone in at the wrong day, which is the Worker's fault, but hey, there's more to just a person than being a bit cranky after a long day of work sitting in a store all day.

God! They probably are snapping at you because, um, maybe, they actually CARE for the puppies there? Seriously, it would be hard to explain to your manager 'so-and-so has a broken leg because I was being nice and let this woman hold the dog for a few minutes' NO! Rules are rules. Wouldn't you have rules in your own house?

Now, about the "Puppy Mill Problem" GOD people, can't you believe a person when they say 'they DON'T?!' They only reason they probably look different to you then the regular 'buy from a breeder' dog, is because they've been in that damn cage way to long. Now, I'm not saying that they DON'T absolutely postitivley; but have we really gone that far done the gutter these days we can't even believe what a respectable human being has to say?

It is not their fault if the dog is sad --I have been there numerous times and all of the time, I see the cages cleaned a lot, and the puppies get a decent amount of time to run around and interact with other dogs and people. The dog is sad BECAUSE he is not cared for INDIVIDUALLY and does not have a REAL home.

The prices? Come on! From a regular breeder, they are just as much or even more! I should know, for I have actually taken the time to SEARCH it up and such. Now, I may be a little "stuck up Chinese girl" but I'm giving you facts here, and you'd be a fool to not listen to them.

I was reading some of the reviews and comments on this page about Newtonville Pet. First let me say, I have been going into this store for many, many years. My oldest is now 24 and my youngest is turning 18. I bought my oldest his first turtle, bunny, hamster, guinea pig, and many a dog here. Oh, I can not forget the fish. I believe if I count right, we have purchased 6 dogs there over the years. Not to mention the bunnies, the hamsters, and so on. As far as puppy mill dogs, my dad took my kids there one day back when my oldest was in 3rd. Grade, he bought a pekinese and a Lhapso. We lost our Butterball two years ago due to an accident and we lost Willy this year. They were 13 and 15 years old. They lived a long time and were never sick. I still have the other 4 dogs, Border Collie is 9 years old, 3 Shitzu's 7-3-& 2 years old. We had another Shitzu from there, our baby Vito, he died two years ago from an accident also. Both my dogs were attacked in our backyard by another animal. But my points, they have all been loving, healthy pets. As far as being favorable to others, not true, being a long time customer and having purchased many animals from them, we wanted one puppy and there was another family interested as well, the other family got the dog, both Peggy and Steve felt badly, but they put toehold on first. If they had favorites, I would think I would of been chosen since I have been such a long time customer. Unless they do not like me and I am unaware of it, I think they are fair. Newtonville Pet is the last of the pet stores. I have often said to my kids that both Steve and Peggy are so nice and have such patience to let people bring their kids in there with no intentions of buying an animal to play with the animals. Believe me, I have had somethings that upset me with the store on the way they handled a couple of things, but not everything is perfect in any business. But, a majority of the good outweigh the bad.

well i work at this pet store that someone is claiming to be so horrible,so this is for her.the pekingese that you are referring was named pekie queen well atleast that was what she called and she was sold, that's what happens to dogs at pet store we sell them. so before you go around accusing people of killing or getting rid of our dogs maybe you should look into first. and the other thing i have a problem with is the puppy mill comment, we don't get our puppies from mills, the owners of this store takes alot of time and effort to make sure of that. and the 12 year was probably me, and i'm 18 and know exactly what i'm talking about when it comes to animals and so does everyone else there and we all care about these animals more than anything, we treat them as if they were our own. so you can get lost and never come back to the store we really don't need lie being spread around about you're "experinces" there.

so everyone please stop saying things about my work, you have no clue what you're talking about. we treat these animals better them some people treat their own pets.

I live fairly close to this pet store and go in there frequently to see the puppies. I would NEVER purchase one from them though. First of all, they are way overpriced for these puppies. I'm pretty sure that these dogs just come from a puppy mill and live in horrible conditions. The first time I went in there, I asked the girl at the counter (who looked like she was about 12) where they got their puppies. She proceeded to recite something that sounded like it had been memorized. It's probably written on an index card under the counter in case they forget the lie they are supposed to tell the customer. $1199 for a puppy in a pet store? Ridiculous. Those poor things sit in those glass cases all day with 3 other dogs. It's heinous. They are the rudest people that I have ever encountered. They give you an attitude if you ask to see one of the puppies. They just let them run around and go to the bathroom all over the store. Why don't they have a room for the customer and puppy to go in? There was this adorable puppy there that was born in January of this year. She was so cute and I loved her so much. I was almost tempted to just buy her because I fell in love with her. I kept going back to the store to visit, week after week. Initially, she was around $1000. Then once she got to be 6/7 months old, they dropped the price down by $100. Seriously?? How do they ever expect to sell these poor pups if they are so ridiculously overpriced? Then one day....she was gone. : ( I know that no one would pay that much for a dog that is almost a year old.....I wonder what happened to my little Pekingnese.....: (
