For being a city and all, there's no swing dance culture in Boston. Sure, every now and then a group does a swing dance night, but its usually in the basement of some church. If you're young and want to head to an actual bar for some night life, and know how to dance this is the place to go. We went for my birthday and they actually had a combination swing/salsa night. Although we got there too late, they actually do a free group dance LESSON before the night really gets going. So, novices have no excuse now! Goooo.

Since 1919, this historic Inman Square jazz club has featured national musicians such as Arturo Sandoval, McCoy Tyner, Maynard Ferguson, Jon Hendricks, and the Count Basie Orchestra. The venue?s large windows on Hampshire Street lure you in to hear their fantastic live music. The club?s first floor performance space has a jazz theme with instruments and framed pictures of jazz legends on the wall, and dim lighting to set the mood. Their dinner menu features BBQ ribs, pulled pork, and seafood options including barbecued shrimp, fried catfish, and Maryland crab cakes. But jazz isn?t the only music on the menu. Brazilian, blues and swing bands perform nightly. Ryles is also a dance lovers paradise with weekly salsa, merengue and cha-cha classes. They also have a hugely popular Sunday Jazz Brunch with live music, fresh strawberry mimosas, Bavarian French Toast, and over 10 types of omelets.

I don't write reviews too often, but I had to write one about Ryles, especially since these others don't reflect the experiance I had.

I thought their Jazz Bruch was terrfic. Good music, great food and prices. I got the freshly squeezed OJ and the Bavarian French Toast (Stuffed with cream cheese and jam) delicious!

I did have trouble flaggin down a waiter, but once I did the service was acceptable. I will defiantely be back and soon :)

Pros: Food and atmosphere

Cons: Service, service, service

The food and service at Ryle's was absolutely horrible. Our food was served burnt and cold. Our waiter was lazy and basically nonexistent even though we were his only customers at that time. I would never recommend this place to anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

I went here to see some Portugese Jazz and it was a nice venue to see a performance. The service was good and bottles of wine were cheaply priced. We only had drinks, no food (other than a simple appetizer).
It fills up quickly as it gets closer to the performance time and it can be hard to get a table. The bar is quite large and looked inviting.

Cons: Chairs can be uncomfy after awhile.

Haven't been able to find any good BBQ in Boston. Tried this place on a whim while in Inman. We were the only table and the service was okay. The food was just average, it wasn't very saucy, and the meat was kinda tough. The hushpuppies were really bland. There was a bumping after work group upstairs though. Seems like it would be fun when there's music.

Horrible service upstairs! Lousy food, got the nachos and it looks and tasted like a can of tomaotes was dumped on the top of the nachos. At least the manager comped the meal but we had to wait forever to get waitedon and it was not that busy and the waiters were rude and then just tried to avoid us.
Over all, the music was good but that was it.

PROS: good music
CONS: LOUSY SERVICE UPSTAIRS ON THE FLOOR
