We have an adult cryptorchid shepherd. Dr Jones is so very caring, and staff member Amanda went to great lengths to assuage our fears. The outcome was perfect. We have seen Dr K, Dr A, and Dr R there as well, we have great confidence in the team.

I had to take my dog in to see Dr Jones due to the mailman hit him and left. I can not tell you how upset, scared, and worried I was that my best friend was unable to use any of his body. We walked in, no apt, and they took us in like we had been there before. Unfortunatly they had to call a day later to tell me that my beloved pup passed away. With in a few days I had received a card in the mail from Dr. Jones and some of the staff saying how sorry they were....GREAT people! A year, and new pup later, I had to take my new buddy up since he was not feeling himself. Turns out my dog has Pneumonia, and after a short stay is feeling back to normal. Appox 3 days later I have received a call from Dr Jones himself asking how my Camshaft was doing. I cant tell you enough how much I appriciate the follow up call, and the personal service! I would HIGHLY recommend this establishment!!!

I have been taking my dog to Dr. Kempf for almost a year when I got him as a puppy. On his puppy visit, he had a reaction to the flea meds and Dr. Kempf took him back in right away and corrected the problem. ALL my friends recommended him and I understand why. The practice is great. They take all walk ins. If you don't have an appointment, you will wait longer as a walk in, but that is in any practice (vet or human doc). He has so many clients because he is the best and his prices are so much better than other. He actually loves all his animals. My dog recently had a virus and was so sick, I though he was going to die. I called the office at 10:30 pm on Friday evening, and was in the office by 11 pm with Dr. Kempf treating him. I don't know any other vet that would do that. I have been there maybe a dozen times with my pup and have never been treated rude or anything. I would refer him to anyone and will never take my dog anywhere else.

I'm not sure who is writing these reviews but from my experiences I can only assume that they are not true. They have always treated me and my 4-legged family members with the utmost respect and compassion. I am so grateful that West Charleston Vet is here to help us when we need it.

Trustworthy and thorough is what comes to mind when I think of my extended family at West Charleston! Biscuit the cat was very sick and Dr. O'neal immediately got to the bottom of it and walked me through every step of the way. I had never had an animal go into surgery so when I dropped Biscuit off I was a mess and Bernie and the West Charleston team comforted me and kept me posted. Biscuit ended up not having to have the surgery because he passed the stones but again Dr. O'neal was very thorough by doing an ultra sound first and seeing no surgery was necessary! Biscuit the cat means the world to me and I am so grateful to Dr. O'neal and the entire West Charleston Team for making Biscuit just as important to them!

I had a very good experience with this vet. My cat had gotten into the garden and eaten some flowers and began throwing up all over the place. I rushed her down to the vet and was greeted very warmly by the front desk girls. Velvet and I were taken into a room and seen by Dr Jones. He was very sympathetic and took very good care of Velvet. They gave her some fluids and medication, and she was right as rain. Very happy with the entire experience.

I and my dogs love this place. Usually my dogs are really picky (a chihuahua and a terrier) about who they are handled by, but they love everyone at this clinic. They always are cared for quickly and all my questions get answered. The clinic is clean and always there whenever I need them, even at 3am when the dogs have gotten into something they shouldn't and throw up everywhere. Great vet!

After reading the other posts, I've realized why they are all similar ... THEY WERE POSTED BY THE SAME PERSON WHO'S JUST PISSED OFF! I dare you to read them and then say they aren't from the same guy just trying to slander the clinic! I am utterly aghast that anyone could think this poorly of what I consider one of the best animal hospitals in the valley.

I've been coming to this clinic for over 4 years. I (and my dog, Hoggle) have never been treated with anything less than respect and dignity. The staff is friendly and professional, and yes, even Dr. Jones! He's really nice and very good at his job. The prices are reasonable, and I've checked around. Just like human medicine, it ain't cheap! Sure I can go to the super cheap place down the street, but you get what you pay for and I love my dog!

Hoggle is healthy and happy, and that is in no small part due to West Charleston Animal Hospital and their wonderful staff! I would whole-heartedly recommend this vet to any and every pet parent who wants quality care at a reasonable price!

Did you have proof that your dog had cancer? Did you see actual test results? My dog was diagnosed with cancer with an uncertainty of how long she would live and without test results and Dr. Jones was ready to operate even though she was so weak. I took her to another vet and she doesn't have cancer at all. I was also told she had a big mass in her abdominal area which she did not. A few months down the road, a small abscess was found attached to her colon and was removed and was also benign. Don't let them fool you. Dr. Carney is the only doctor I would trust. Dr. Jones does not want to be bothered during the night and he could care less, so just be careful and make sure you see actual test results.

This hospital has been caring for my dogs and cat for 6 years.
I have had great service and my animals love to go there.
Recently, my german shepherd was diagnosed with cancer. There performed the surgery in December and have continued with follow-up. So far we are clear of any recurrance.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS CLINIC!!!! I took my dog there because she had some vomiting, and after keeping her overnight and claiming they did all types of tests, which I never saw the results of, Dr. Warnus said to take her home, give her Pepcid (for which they charged me $35 dollarsfor one dose) and feed her chicken and rice. All this for almost $500 dollars! He called me the next day to say her urine had crystals and she needed more tests & a special prescription C/D diet (Hills Science Diet). By now my dog was fine and after talking to some other dog owners I realized I had been taken. This clinic should be ashamed of themselves for preying on people's love and concern for their animals and only being interested in taking their clients' money. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! AND DO NOT USE SCIENCE DIET. NOT GOOD STUFF FOR DOGS!!!

I have spent thousands of dollars here over a years' worth of time for my dogs and all they did was take and take and I never got any kind of info when they took the same tests over and over and kept on charging me. Dr. Jones never showed me any of their test results and I trusted him. Well, I learned my lesson. I don't even know if he took half the tests that I paid for. I feel like I was ripped off. I see another vet now that loves and cares for my dogs and shows me the results of any tests she takes and gives me copies of their bloodwork, etc. All Dr. Jones ever gave me was BS. He was too concerned about the way he looked to give a damn about any animal. One of my dogs jumped and touched his knees and he brushed them off right in front of me. nice, eh? Is this the kind of person you want taking care of your pets? This is why he squats all the time--he doesn't want the dogs jumping on him. He's afraid he might get dirty. Don't think he is cut out to be a vet.

beware of this place --very deceiving

Dr. Jones only cares about himself. One of the other reviews stated to stop and think that maybe the client was arrogant and rude. Well maybe you should stop and think that the client is telling the truth and wants to spare someone else the unnecessary stress that he or she went through. Any man or woman has to know deep inside when they are wrong about something. If this person cannot step up to the plate and apologize, is this someone you want to take care of your animal? He left my dog thinking she was dying of cancer without doing proper testing and never called to see how she was doing or even apologized for his negligence. I went to another vet for a second opinion and my dog is alive and well with no cancer. Dr. Jones could care less.

As some of the other reviews have said, this doctor is very rude and only wants your money. My cat was very sick from getting into some peace lilies and I was worried how bad it really was (some lilies can be fatal). Dr. Jones said it would cost $600 and I told him I'd need to think it over and call him back. He proceeded to actually say, "Lets do us both a favor and not be up at 4 am about this." MY CAT COULD DIE! I don't care if I'm up at 4 am! Maybe you shouldn't have a 24 hr emergency clinic if this is a problem for you Dr. Jones! Instead I called poison control and they gave me professional advice on how to care for my kitty and she was ok to wait till the morning to go to a more caring vet that charged half the price to do the same treatment Dr. Jones wanted to do.

Dr. Jones does not give his clients individual attention. You can be waiting for him in one room while he is with another client in another room. While you may be waiting to have tests done, then he will be in another room. When he finally gets back to you and you are getting ready to leave, he is already with another client. It's like ding, ding, ding, line them up next, next, next. He takes on too many patients like he needs to make some kind of quota and he doesn't have time to keep accurate records. Just wait till the day that it happens to you and then you will understand what I mean. He needs to grow up and go back to school and ask himself is this what he really wants to do. Why, because it pays well. Maybe one day someone will sue him for negligence. Maybe that would be a wakeup call for him.

My dog was seriously misdiagnosed and Dr. Jones never followed up or called to apologize because he has too big an ego and a God Syndrome to humble himself. He doesn't care about the animals, he just cares about how much money is in his wallet. Many people have complained to me about him and if you look at his profile you will see he has had disiplinary action taken against him. The client is not the one with the attitude problem, he is. Open your eyes and wait till you have a serious problem and see what happens.

Doctor Jones has been handling the care of all of our dogs for over 3 years now and has been nothing short of professional, caring and extemely knowledgable. When something comes up he is not familiar with he will not try to diagnose without consulting other doctors or reading the book to find the correct answer. When you read some of the complaints stop to think that maybe the person writing that was very rude and arrogant as many people can be. We will continue to go to Doctor Jones and should a time come when he is not available the other doctors at West Charleston are equally as competent. Additional the pricing at West Charleston after having lived in several areas of the US is extremely reasonable.

Dr. Jones is very incompetent and forgetful and has also been very rude to me. My animal was seriously misdiagnosed and fortunately I had the instinct to get a second opinion. Now my dog is happy and well. Dr. Jones needs to go back to school and learn how to be civil and respectful to his clients.

Was recommended by a friend to see Dr. Jones. I have been totally satisfied with the care my Shih Tzu has gotten. He has been courteous and caring. If there is something that he isn't sure of he lets me know that he will consult with another & get back to me. There is no doctor that knows everything about every animal. That is why we have consult visits. I appreciate being able to see him any day that he is there without an appointment. Fees at WCAH I feel are fair and competetive. I will continue to see Dr. Jones and I will refer anyone that needs vet care to him.

We have bringing our pets to West Charleston for 2 years now. They have always been friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Our animals are definitely part of our family and the cost is never too much for the high quality care we have gotten here. Last month, our shih tzu began vomiting and the doctor came in at 1 am to help her. Turns out, she had eaten one of my children's toy and it was stuck in the stomach, not allowing food to pass. They took her into surgery immediately to remove it and she is now a happy, healthy puppy. I cannot thank them enough for the care given both to me and my baby. This place is excellent!

I've spoken to many people that have had bad experiences here, especially with Doctor Jones(inexperienced and money hungry). He's ok for minor problems or vaccinations but not seriously ill animals. A few people mentioned that there is a Board of Veterinary Examiners where you can send a complaint. I'm seriously considering it. WWW.NVVETBOARD.US

I would never recommend them to anyone. Doctor Jones is very inexperienced and only in it for the money. He pretends to care but he really doesn't.
He is very happy to take your money though, and their prices are quite high. If you must go there,
see Dr. Carney.

I took my cat in and after some tests while I waited, I was told that he has diabetes and would need to stay in the hospital for several days for nutrition, fluids, and to get regulated on insulin. I asked how much the vet bill might be and the vet said about 1000.00! I was shocked but I have had my cat for 11 years and he would be fine once regulated. When I picked him up FOUR days later, they said his bill was just under 1800.00!!!! No one warned me about this! Not only that, but they had him on the wrong dosage and type of insulin, and didn't even tell me to refrigerate it so it quickly lost it's effectiveness any way! My cat was not really helped in any way! I took him to Bonanza Cat Hospital and all turned out OK!

I have been taking my dogs to this animal hospital for the past 4 years and I will never bring them back again! Before leaving on a short weekend trip last month, I brought my three small dogs to this place for boarding. I requested the following: I wanted all three dogs to be placed together, which they said was not a problem; two of them needed their nails trimmed and their ears flushed; the other one will need just an anal glands expression. When I picked them up a couple days later, I found out that the ears were not flushed; and instead of doing the anal glands expression for the one dog, her nails were trimmed. The ONLY thing they got right was trimming the nails for the two dogs. The worst part of this whole event was that they had separated one of my dogs (the youngest one) from the other two and when I asked about it, the woman at the front reception area (Mandy) who initially assisted me when I brought my dogs in totally brushed it off and made it seem that money was the issue and just told the other woman who was helping me out to charge me for just one kennel. Mandy missed the whole point and had absolutely no regard, let alone any respect. The scary thing about this whole deal is that I filled out the necessary forms and they obviously did not follow it. The Vet had even asked me about their needs, but he didn't listen. Yes, my requests were quite petty, but their carelessness says a lot!

That is so weird that the other lady had a bad experience here. I would like to know what Vet at the clinic she talked to...
I was referred to this vet from my Vet out of state - that was 5 years ago. I have been seeing them since. (I stick with the Gentlemen Vets in the clinic... I seem to get the non-nonsense, no-added expense version from them).
They do a great job & don't jerk you around. It is what it is & when it comes to taking care of my animals thats how I like it to be.

We found out about West Charleston Animal clinic after taking our new puppy there for her initial checkup and shots. Our first visit, we found out that there were no appointments necessary, nor extra charges for walk ins, we were estactic. We live 120 miles from Las Vegas, a 2 hour drive, and it is really hard, when you bring your pet for an emergency. The hours are fabulous and I've never had any problem with the staff. They are courteous and eager to help you. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen by the doctors there. They were willing to keep our animails for a little extra time while we did errands. Thumbs up.

I took my puppy here after she had mis-stepped and took a tumble in the park. After xrays, I was told she had fractured her pelvic bone in 3 places, needed emergency surgery to place plates and pins in. I was also told she had blood in her urine and the bone may have punctured her bladder. My only other option to this $4000 surgery, plus rehab cost, was to put her down. They referred me to a specialist. Me and my kids were in tears all afternoon, I pulled them out of school to say 'good bye' if the specialist said there was nothing they could do (especially after her 'bladder was punctured') We went to the specialist....NO SURGERY is needed, all she needs is rest and a heating pad. This is from the same exact xray I had carried to them from West Charleston Animal Hospital!! And it seems as though animals when experiencing a trauma frequently have blood in the urine. Thank God I took her to the specialist! I am a medical practitioner, after hearing she had this internal bleeding for 18 hours....I almost had her put down at West Charleston Animal Hospital. I understand second opinions, but the diagnosis I got her was so WAY off that this place CANNOT be trusted. We dont take our animals to a vet, pay good money just to HAVE to get a second opinion (that we also have to pay for) STAY AWAY....take your animals to the Vet. Referral Specialist on Tropicana and Durango

I took my cat here that suddenly got very sick and needed treatment and emergency care immediately. The doc didn't want to treat him to get him more stable. Only wanted to run every test not considering that my cat was in critical condition and running all the tests would be too stressful. I have worked with vets and my mom is a licensed vet. tech with over 20 years experience and she could not even get him to treat or try to stabilize my cat. He wanted to keep him overnight for emergency care. However, their "emergency care" has a staff member (not a licensed vet or licensed vet tech) watching the animal, so when my cat went from bad to dying nothing was done until the morning staff came in .. oh yeah no one called me to let me know this either. I picked up my cat immediately and took him to another clinic which they immediately took ACTION to get him stable. In short Dr Jones is inexperienced (thought he may mean well) to deal with a emergency and did nothing to help my cat just stood back and watched him get worst. Find a more experienced and knowledgeable vet!

From the front office to the back office, this animal hospital is a wonderful place to bring your pets. All of the staff is friendly, helpful and will make you and your pet feel comfortable. Our pupply was created (our English Bulldog was born by way of artificial insemination) and born at this hospital. We saw Dr. Jones and he was extremely professional, caring, and compassionate. He was also very patient with all of our questions regardiing our first puppy in the family. Definitely take your pet here.

Not the fall of Roam

Dr. Bernard is fabulous! I frantically brought my sick little puppy into his clinic one Sunday afternoon because everywhere else was closed. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and had a slim chance of survival. Dr. Bernard straight shot it all the way. Roam stayed over night at the clinic for several nights in an oxygen room and needed a nebulizer. While Dr. Bernard never gave me false hope for my little puppy Roam, he did take very good care of her and kept me constantly informed of her status and what he was doing to save her life. He went out of his way to check on her in the clinic in the evenings. Several days later I brought my puppy home! And while we are still not out of the woods with this deadly virus pneumonia, she has the spark back in her that I fell in love with? She is eating and drinking and playing! Thank you Dr. Bernard!

I have been at this location many times, the Doctors are wonderful. The office help has good days and bad days...they could be a little more friendly and not so "snappy" at times. I thought about changing VET'S becuz of the office staff, but I like the VET'S so much I stay. The pills are a bit clostly also. I asked for a written precription and do it online for much cheaper.

PROS: Close location, GREAT Vet's.
CONS: Office help

I took my dog here when they first opened. The receptionists were friendly and the boarding was satisfactory. I was not happy with the boarding as of recently. The staff was not as friendly or helpful, and did not make me feel reassured that my dog would be safe and well loved in their care. I left and took him to another boarding facility and vet.

PROS: close location
CONS: unhelpful staff
