I thought that I was going to be really happy purchasing a new sofa and tv from Galen's, but I was wrong. I was able to take the tv home with me the day of the purchase, but the sofa was a different story. I was told by the salesman that it would be 2 weeks for the sofa to come in from the warehouse. There was an older woman (obviously his boss) standing there who said it would only be a week.

After two weeks I called to find out what was going on since I hadn't been called to arrange delivery. The very nice woman on the phone told me to call back later and talk to either the salesman or the furniture department manager. I called back and asked for the department manager, which was a mistake.

The department manager, Chris, was rude and seemed uninterested in helping me. She took my name and number and said she would call me back. When she did call me back, I was told that the sofa would be delivered to Galen's on Wednesday (which is 5 days later). I was then told that there are no delivery dates available until the middle of October!

I tried to explain to Chris that I was told that I would have the sofa in two weeks. She interrupted me to tell me that "We never say that. We always tell customers that delivery takes at least 4-6 weeks." Not only did she interrupt me, but she was very rude about her statements.

I was furious at the way I was being treated and told her that I should just cancel the order. She smugly responded "You can't. All sales are final!" I told her that I would take that up with the finance company and hung up.

My husband called back a few minutes later and spoke with Heidi, who was very nice to him. She told him that the sofa was scheduled to be delivered to them on Wednesday so she scheduled it to be delivered to us on Thursday morning. Although unhappy with the way Chris spoke to me, I was feeling better that finally I would have the sofa.

I was wrong about the last part. I just got a phone call from Galen's telling me that the sofa was not on the truck and they don't know where it is or when it will come in! I purchased the sofa because they said it would be delivered in two weeks. I'm not getting custom fabric. It is a sofa that they have, but are storing in a warehouse somewhere else.

I understand that they are in the process of going out of business and retiring. It is my opinion that they are closing the store because they can't operate their business properly. If I treated my customers the way they do I certainly would be in business as long as I have! I hope no one else falls into the same lies that I did. I'm glad that they are going out of business. If they weren't, I would have to be certain that everyone knew not to every shop there.

Love the selection this place has to offer , recently i bought a range of appliances and furniture for my new house in ephrata from them.
There customer service sucks .... all they will do is sell u there stuff and not back it up...... for instance furniture like our dining set is horrible with all legs uneven so when u sit or eat everything is rocking and they wont do anything about it .
Appliances- my basement got flooded recently so lost my washer & dryer , after a stupendous service charge of $79.85 just to take a look at it was told it wuld be better to buy a new one than go in for repairs ( 450 just for washer+lbr charges).
Got it done myself for $55 from K & A second hand appliances
Will never suggest this place or go here myself again .

Galen's repair service is terrible! The mounting brackets on my dishwasher were broken during installation. Now, Galen's is saying that there is no way to prove that their repairman broke the mounts and wants to charge me $70 service charge to install side mounting brackets(which come with the dishwasher). I have been a faithful customer for years, but if they can't be counted on to take care of this problem, I will go elsewhere for my appliances.

I have had an impossibly frustrating experience with Galen's and would not give them a single star. I recently bought a dishwasher from them. It was delivered to the wrong address. The paperwork was missing when they finally got it to the correct address. The paperwork, which was needed to file for rebates, was mailed to the wrong address, It was useless anyway for rebate purposes as nothing on it was accurate. I requested a new invoice. It too was incorrect; neglected to include the installation charge which I had paid and which was the subject of the rebate. I asked for another corrected invoice. I just received yet another incorrect invoice for the dishwasher, It is almost as if they are being incompetent on purpose.

Galens is a good store in the area to purchase large and small appliances. They have been in business for many years in this area. Brand names are abundent throughout the store. They offer a wide range of makes and models. Periodically they have very good sale events. Delivery and removal of old items is also one of their services.

BUt they have excellent merchandise. And now they are open on Sundays, even better. Makes shopping easier. I lvoe to go and snop around. They have the best entertainment selection as well. I have purchased a tv there and was very pleased.

They have great financing plans and great prices. They carry all kinds of brands of home appliances for everyday and they deliver it right to your door. We purcheased from them when they were doing free delivery and they were very quick.

We recently got a stove from this store and it was a great shopping experience. They took our old stove when they delivered the new stove, installed the stove, and gave us a good run through on usage.
Until a few months ago, it wasnt open Sundays, but now even that has changed. They dont have the largest selection, but what they do have is well priced and good quality.

CONS: Not the largest selection
