I've always been a fan of Blue Mesa Fort Worth but on New Years Day I called the Southlake restaurant and asked if they might possibly have black eyed peas on the menu. I know they don't normally but it's a fun southern tradition and we wanted to find a restaurant that would oblige. When asked if they did, the guy that answered, in the most pretentious voice, told me, "No! Never!". Now I respect their decision not to serve a southern dish... ever. But to insult the tradition that many enjoy to participate in. It was uncalled for. It will be a long time, if ever, that I go back.

I went here for brunch one day and the food was fresh and delicious. They also had bottomless mimosa's.... need I say more?

We (party of 3) went for the Sunday Brunch and was told our wait was 30-40 minutes. We sat at the bar and drank our complimentary mimosas. Good start. 30 minutes later, we swore that people who arrived after us were getting seated before us (and I called ahead and they don't take reservations) but we were patient. Everyone around us were getting seated and we were the last ones waiting. The hostess told us, "you're next" but somehow a party of 3 who had just arrived were seated immediately, leaving us to wait for another few minutes. This was very aggravating and insulting.

The food was ok, not great, for $16.95. Not all of the buffet trays were labels so we were often left wondering what mystery meat we were eating. Is it beef or lamb? And they need to do a better job of replenishing the food. The mimosas and the poinsettias (champagne and cranberry juice) were good, not very strong, which I like. It was an ok experience but I expected a lot more for my money and for the ambiance.

Pros: Nice location, nice atmosphere

Cons: Bad hostess, poorly organized/managed buffet, unknowledgable wait staff (they couldn't tell us what we were eating either!)

My husband and I love Blue Mesa - every one of them. Some are better than others, and for different things. This Blue Mesa is good with general dining. I hosted a graduation party at this location and we were able to reserve the whole front room; the service was friendly and capable and the food was fresh and hot. We have been to their Sunday brunch, which is what typically draws us to this restaurant chain. I have to say that there have been times that the brunch at this location is not up to the same level as many of the other Blue Mesa Locations. The layout is a little awkward, and later in the brunch hours it is hit or miss to get an omelet or some of the food items are overcooked. Overall, I would go to this restaurant again, and I would recommend it to other people. I would recommend to go to their Sunday brunch earlier rather than later in the day.

If you are interested in trying new restaraunts and new food, this is a must try! The service was excellent and the food is out of this world! It can be a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it. There are several "original" recipes on their menu that this restaurant is known for. If nothing else, definitely try the corn on the cob with goat cheese. Sounds a little weird but tastes amazing!
