This place is horrible. I worked there for a few months and after a while I was the only one left because everyone else was fired. She won't return anything and is always rude.We all thought there was something mentally wrong because there were even microphone in the cash registers so that everything we said could be heard. I've seen people literally be thrown out or shoved out the door and their person items thrown on the sidewalk. The police frequented and they were nice. Even they thought she was psycho but hey they got paid to sit there all day.

As a former worker the truth is half of the people that go into the bookstore have no idea what books their looking for. They simply walk in with a schedule and expect us to find their book for them. Yeah maybe the manager is a bit crazy in the head but she didnt force you to buy a book you didnt need. IF you have no idea its the book you truly need then why would you buy it?? Word of advice go to class and know what you need before you buy something and then cant return it because you cant read the return policy.

The owner of this store has bought textbooks stolen from Richland students. One student had to buy back his own text book for the final exam because it had all his notes in it. They have sued Richland twice and have been turned into the Better Business Bureau many times, it does little good. Marty got angry at an international student and he was arrested outside the store. INS may have deported him, I never saw him again.
You may save money but be careful, document everything, realize who you are dealing with, you have been warned about the privately owned off-campus Richland Bookstore .

When he went to return it, the employees were rude and unprofessional. The rent a cop made him leave when he kept asking to speak to the manager. I went thinking that they just didn't want to deal with students. They treated me the same! VERY RUDE!
Two young girl employees were laughing and being disrespectful. I have never in my life been treated so badly. I went across the street the the campus book store, they exchanged the book and were very polite and helpful. In the short time I was there three people I talked to had similar stories. This is a real problem and something needs to be done. I plan on contacting the BBB and DMM with the Dallas Morning News. I feel so sorry for all the students who have been treated so badly. With all the bad reviews, this is not a fluke!!!

I went to buy a book for my son thinking that he haven't bought one yet. Richland Bookstore is a terrible place w/bad customer service!!! I took my son to purchase 4 books on MLK Day, 01-18-10. I asked for the return policy & they stated as long as it is not open we can get a full refund by January 28, 2010. On Tuesday, 01-19-10, my son went to class & his Psychology teacher stated that the school told them to purchase the wrong book & to go & exchange it for the correct one. My son went to exchange it for the right one & also purchased an ADDITIONAL English book that was required and paid the extra money. He also told the owner that he will be back the next day to return his History Book because he was using his cousin's book. She said that was fine. He went in today & she wouldn't do it because she said he already returned 1 book the day before. I had my husband come in & she still would not return it, wouldn't give him the name of the owner when asked, & also said she can change the policy whenever she wants to. She said it is bad business for her when she returns books. DO NOT GO THERE!! She is a liar & will say whatever she wants just so you will buy books, until you need to return it or get a refund, forget it! PSYCHO! Also she watches everyone like they are going to steal EVERYTHING in site! She is RUDE, not helpful, DO NOT TRUST HER!! She will not give anyone their money back. I will definitely report her to the better business bureau! She will continue to lose customers because I'm sure everyone reads these reviews! GO SHOP AT RICHLAND'S BOOKSTORE!! They are helpful and NEVER gave us problems last semester!!! Don't go to the one on Walnut St. jsut for a few dollars difference!! Not worth it!!

I worked here for a short while and the owner/manager told the employees we were not allowed to give out her name or tell anyone that she owned the store. She has a camera and she sits in the back wactching all the employees and will fire you if you even indicate the owner's gender! She is sexist and racist and would go on long rants about how superior women were to men. She refused to hire men when I worked there. The return policy is a joke as she will change it whenever she wants. She hires security guards because she is scared of all the pissed off customers she has had in the past. In spite of all that the prices are really good. My suggestion is to wait until after the first day of class to get your books. That will you will know the class has made and you will also ensure that you get the right books. Also always sell books right after finals. This is when you will get the most money from the bookstores.

DONT EVER GO THERE MEANIEST OLD LADY THERE. i traded my physics book in and a sec later i went back to ask if i can have it back because i dont need to trade it yet i still need if for my final...she ignored me when i was standing in line!!! and then when i asked her once again if i can please have my book back she told me to leavee!!! !!! Extremely rude racist and big lying awful lady
This is the worst thing I've ever experienced in the USA. A friend of mine who is an international bought a book for 2 days, didnt even open the plastic cover of the book and went to return it 2 days before the deadline. He was asked if he dropped the class as a reason to return the book, he just went on to answer Yes just to get over although he didnt drop the class. She then asked him to show drop slip in order to get refunded. Finally she insisted that he lied to her and didtn let him return the book. He came to campus and ask for one of the counsilor help to write him a drop slip.
He then brought the drop slip back and guess what that female monster said: there is no return policy here, it is her privilege to return whenever she want and accused him of lying to her as a reason to void his return. And asked him to leave the store before security will put him in jail.
Please becareful and NEVER buy book or even step in this store..For those who experienced similar problem like this, if you know where to report
or something to do about this store Pls contact me
This is a book store next to an educational institution, there should not be discrimination or any type of violation like this.

The return service for a college algebra book was terrible. Took a fast track summer class. Attended first day and dropped same day. Went to return book but store was closed. Went next day and the lady (manager I guess) would not take book back. Nor would she take back the MyMathLab that she saw was still sealed/not open. She would take at "buy-back" price. Ripoff. i bet the owner of the store paid amy h. because the policies change on a day to day basis at that store. anyone who has purchased books there or worked there knows that. it is a well known joke to current and former students. the place is awful and the fact that people keep shopping there is beyond me. she treats customers bad and also employees. i had to quit working there because i felt she was morally wrong. the owner rips off students daily. i wish i could tell everything she does but it is so unreal you wouldnt believe me. i have never seen anything like it. its really sad.

This store has all of the policy's posted. I have bought my books from them for the past 3 semesters. And have not had a problem. When you by a book you should know what your looking for it's not the stores job to tell you what you need. Go to class and bring all your info so you don't get the wrong book! ALWAYS make sure you know the refund deadline... Every college bookstore has one!! I had great service when I went, friendly employees. You have to be responsible when you by thing.. Over all pleased with the store :)

My daughter went in to this store in January '09 to purchase her books for the next semester. A member of the staff asked to see her schedule, pulled the books and told her this was what she needed. Total price $300. First day of class she was told these were the wrong books. She tried to take the books back, which were still in the plastic and was offered a fraction of what they were worth even though it was the bookstore's fault. I tried calling to resolve the issue. I called about 10 times before anyone answered then when I asked for the name of who I was talking to they hung up on me without even knowing what the problem was. The problem was they didn't want to give me their name. Read all these reviews...this establishment is a RIP OFF!!! Very sad considering they are dealing with college kids that don't have that much money to begin with. Stear clear of this store and warn your friends immediately! If anyone can tell me what I can do legally I would appreciate it.

This bookstore operates by ripping off poor college students. I bought a chemistry book and lab manual here and then dropped the class on the second day. I returned to the store with my books, receipt and drop slip (proof that I had dropped the class). The woman (who I assume is the owner) yelled at me, and wouldn't let me return my books. I honestly can't believe this store is still in business. Everything I read in the other reviews is true - I've seen her be rude, disrespectful, even hateful to other customers and as well as her employees. Be careful to buy things in her store.
all the policy is a lier. she will use many excuses to refuse students to return the things they bought.
That is true, She is so mean,
I bought today , she said i cannot take books back and said i am playing a game so that she said just doesn't want to return my money back. but actually, i bought the wrong books. before buying, i tried to ask the cashier, the cashier said can take back until tomorrow. Once I want to return the same day i bought, she said i play a game. and said she is not welcome me to come again anymore. even call the security to let me out. even I cannot sign my name in the receipt.
I am wondering why such a little bookstore need to hire a security police there.

HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT SHOP HERE. I purchased a book and drop the class the same week, I tried return the book the same day . I brought my receipt, book still in the package, and the 'drop class slip' they require. The woman would not give me my money back and got rude with me, tried to intimidate me with their security guard and told me 'don't shop here again'. This old woman was sooo rude, arrogant and ignorant. They ripped me off.

Was supposed to be able to return book if not right for class, supervisor would not make an exchange. I WILL NOT BUY ANY MORE BOOKS FROM THEM. I WILL NOT EVEN BUY SCANTRONS FROM THEM.

I called to check and compare the price of a text book,and the person who answered my call would not give me a price quote. They would only tell me that it was a discount rate, and would be cheaper than in my own area. I asked them how they knew that when i had not told them the area in which i lived. The person then gave me attitude and hung up on me. This place is a joke.

They told me if the class did not make that they would refund my money. I brought proof it didn't make and they still refused. I asked to speak to the owner and the would not tell me who it was or give me a number.
