This is the "best" mexican restaurant in town. Truly authentic and yet creative. The food is always fresh and delicious. We've been customers for over 25 years. We keep going back for more again and again!

My husband and I went on a week day for lunch after a doctor's appointment.. There were maybe 3 other people in the restaurant. We're adventurous eaters. My husband had the enchilada mariscos which were fair--to be kind in this review. I had the sincronizadas [this is what's printed on my bill] based on the waiter's recommendation. This was tasteless except for salty. A great disappointment after hearing good things about this place. We brought home the left overs thinking they maybe would improve with time [flavors melding, etc.]--as some left overs do. Not these--they went in the garbage.

We love Pico's and eat there frequently, Recently they catered an event for around 70 people at our home. The food (fajitas, Charro beans, rice, pralines, Queso, guacamole) and Margaritas were outstanding! We were so pleased with the service--all of the Pico's staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our guests.
I recommend that you try the restaurant--and if you want a great Mexican Fiesta--give them a call !

After hearing all the chatter about Pico's Mexican Restaurant, I was eager to try it out. I usually dine at El Patio or Molinas on Westheimer. Both very good, but wanted to see if there was something better out there.

Walked in was greeted immediately by two smiling employees. We decided to eat early, and even though it was only 7pm on a Saturday, the place was almost full. However, there was no wait and we were seated quickly. The chips were bad. The first thing that hits you is the tortilla chips that tasted and looked like they were right out of the bag. They serve to types of salsa, red and green. The green salsa was strange tasting and not that good. The red salsa was not bad, but rather unremarkable.

The service was excellent. The waiter came and was friendly and took extra time explaining the specials of the night. We decided to split the chicken mole, and it was served within 15 minutes, and was very good.

My wife had the "skinny" margarita which she said was "ok" but, again, nothing to rave about.

Overall the atmosphere was good, the service was great, but the chips and salsa needed much improvement. I think that Molinas and El Patio still rank above Picos for great salsa, chips, and margaritas. The mole was good at Picos. I would go back; but was underwhelmed.

Pros: Mole and Service
Cons: Chips and salsa

Why are all the good places in bad areas? Pico's is simply a great mexican food restaurant. Amazing food and the drinks... wow! Not only are the margaritas appropriately strong, but they are blended to perfection with fresh lime juice. This place is everything corporate Tex-Mex restaurants are NOT. A true Houston institution... that lives up to it's billing.

Great Mexican food that wasn't Tex-Mex. Tomato salsa had a smoky flavor, guacamole was tasty and chunky, and the tomatillo salsa was exceptional with it. I would definitely recommend the enchiladas de mariscos. It was stuffed with shrimp and crab and creamy cheese. Margaritas were tasty as well; I recommend the Ultimate. It's tiny and you are surrounded by mariachi but was authentic, which makes it exceptional to me.

I've been going to Pico's for years and it is my favorite restaurant in Houston by far. Their chile con queso is indescribable- it's the best in the world! I went to college in Washington DC and EVERY time I come home I have to go to Pico's to get my chile con queso fix- I've yet to find a place that can rival them! I also know the owners personally, and they are the nicest family. The service is always great, and if you're lucky, you'll get live music at your table! And mmmm, the tortillas! If you haven't been, GO! If you go on the weekend, make a reservation!

When I get a craving for beef I head to Pico's and order the Huasteca. It's always cooked the way I want it, and served with queso flameado, pico de gallo, and guacamole, it makes the perfect tacos. During the Spring and Fall I like to go in the evening and sit outside by the fountain. The mariachis here play without brass instruments, so they can entertain without deafening the diners.

I've been eating here since early '90's and never been disappointed yet for evening or breakfasts. The house specialty entrees are worth a visit -- better than HUGO's in my opinion. If you think the location isnt that safe, please note that there's a watchman out in the parking lot. The owner seems to always be there, so everyone is working hard to please. I was hoping the sale of the next door real estate would enable PICO'S to have a nicer outdoor venue, but still having to eat in a parking lot when the weather is nice. Since moving from SW Houston, I still come back after trying out the choices in Pearland - nothing compares overall.

This is a GREAT restaurant. Since I started going here I have never stopped and I have never had a meal that wasn't good. The service is spectacular. the food is fresh, the variety is great.
This is NOT like those other "hit & miss" restaurants or those others that attract "only the in-crowd" but whose food is less then desirable. This is a great restaurant that you can feel comfortable coming with your family, or work friends or even a date. The outdoor patio is fun and romantic.
But of course the best is the food - the owner, chef is always there and visible. The food is the best that I have had in the 6 states that I have lived in. This is like one of those restaurants that is sooo good that you don't want it known because it will be swamped but I believe they deserved the recognition!!!

Superb mexican style sauteed calamari, the best spinach enchillada's in town and their soft shell crabs are enough to get my taste buds on a roll just thinking of them. My biggest problem is making a decision.
The regular margarita's are better than most places and they also serve "I had a hard day" ones.
Joining the e-mail list is a nice plus that keeps Pico's a step ahead of the rest.
The mariachi's add an authentic atmosphere when entertaining out-of-state guests.
Have had several successful business luncheons and dinners with great results.
LOVE the option of eating outside in our limited climate town.
